Aggregate Types and Calculation of Multiplier Factors 313.05.01 Asphaltic Concrete Subsection 313.05.01 of OPSS 313, March 1993, is amended by the deletion of the first paragraph and its replacement with the following: Asphaltic concrete shall conform to OPSS 1149, March 1993, amended as follows: 1149.05.01.02 Aggregates Clause 1149.05.01.02 of OPSS 1149 is modified by the addition of the following: 1149.05.01.02.07 Stone Mastic Asphalt The coarse and fine aggregates used for Stone Mastic Asphalt mix shall be obtained from the same source and selected from the following: trap rock, diabase, dolomitic sandstone, or meta-arkose. Freshly crushed coarse and fine aggregates less than 30 days old shall not be incorporated into the mix, unless hydrated lime [Ca(OH)2] is added to the mix and the resultant mix has been reviewed and verified by the Contract Administrator as specified elsewhere in the Contract. 313.09 MEASUREMENT FOR PAYMENT Subsection 313.09.01 is amended by the addition of the following:

313.09.01.07 Stone Mastic Asphalt The payment quantity indicated in the tender is based on a reference density for the mix of 2.600 t/m3.

313.09.01.08 Superpave 12.5FC 1 The payment quantity indicated in the tender is based on a reference density for the mix of 2.512 t/m3. 313.09.01.09 Superpave 12.5FC 2 The payment quantity indicated in the tender is based on a reference density for the mix of 2.600 t/m3. 313.10 BASIS OF PAYMENT 313.10.01 Hot Mix Clause 313.10.01.01 of OPSS 313 is amended by the addition of the following: 313.10.01.01.12 Stone Mastic Asphalt

Superpave 12.5FC 1 Superpave 12.5FC 2

A payment adjustment for aggregate density for each lot for these tender items will be determined by the following formulae:

(1) )(t/mBRD)(t/mD

3mix

3RMF =

(2) Payment Adjustment = Mmix x Contract Price x [MF – 1.000]

Where: “MF” is the mass multiplier factor calculated to 3 decimal places; “DR” is the reference density, with the following values:

2.600 for Stone Mastic Asphalt and Superpave 12.5FC 2; 2.512 for Superpave 12.5FC 1;

“BRDmix” is the lot average bulk relative density calculated from values obtained in the testing of bulk samples obtained during production. The values shall be the same as those used in calculating the final air voids payment factor for the lot.

“Mmix” is the weighed mass of the mix in the lot incorporated into the work; and “Contract Price” is the unit price of the tender item for the mix. When the mass multiplier factor is less than 1.000, the payment adjustment due to the selected aggregate combination will be a reduction in payment for the item. When the mass multiplier factor of the selected aggregate is equal to 1.000, no adjustment will be made to payment for the item. When the mass multiplier factor due to selected aggregate combination is greater than 1.000, the payment adjustment will be an increase in payment for the item.
