JV SOCCER  Even though the rain kept falling, the boys JV Soccer team wouldn't let that dampen their spirits as they played to a 0-0 tie against district rival Thomas Jefferson.  There were multiple chances created by many players, including Jake Hessinger's great shot and Brendon Luong's near miss at the back post. John Haskett came up with a great one on one kick save to preserve the shutout. The coaching staff would like to say how proud they are of the boys continued improvement throughout the season. We will meet on Friday to turn in uniforms after school.

Rowing ClubThe Stone Bridge Rowing Club rowed in the Washington Metropolitan Area Scholastic Rowing Associations Novice Championships for first year rowers. Both the men’s and women’s top boats came from behind to win their respective events.  The men’s second eight came in a strong second and the men’s and women’s four oared shells also came in second. All of our athletes performed well against several well established teams from the area including several well funded private schools like Gonzaga.  In addition, all of our boats left no doubt that they are the fastest crews in Loudoun County beating Briar Woods in every event that we entered.

SAT QUESTION

Andrew Jackson’s ideal vision of an American nation composed of farmers and artisans had become increasingly ------- by the 1860s, when the new ------- economy was turning craftspersons and planters into factory laborers.A. antiquated . . agriculturalB. feasible . . industrialC. elusive . . artisticD. fanciful . . manufacturingE. progressive . . urban

Page 41: STONE BRIDGE Thursday, May 10th. Room 401 Open 8:25-8:55 daily

SAT ANSWER    Choice (D) is correct. If Jackson’s vision were of a nation peopled by farmers and artisans, it makes sense to say that that vision had become more “fanciful,” or imaginative, than practical at a time when manufacturing was drawing people to factory jobs.
