The production of composite elements is becoming more integral towards saving the worlds natural, sustainable resources. Due to the numerous available combinations of different materials in composites, they can be used in varied fields of application such as the construction of buildings, rails, trucks, ships, automotive vehicles, caravans, motorhomes and other industrial products.
Stobicoll® B and T adhesives provide the following key features: conserve energy due to insulation panels with cores of Polyurethane or Polystyrene for building panels, refrigerator trucks and door panels; more safety due to low-flammability panels with Rockwool for facades, ship equipments or dry wall constructions; and reduce weights due to lightweight boards constructed with a honeycomb core for a wide range of applications, from the furniture industry to car parts for the automotive industry. And these are only a few examples of the possibilities that can be developed.
The use of renewable based polyols serves to limit the emission of CO2 and provides a sustainable alternative to fossil fuel derived materials. Along with an increasing diversity of materials involved in these composite processes, physical requirements and customer expectations are also on the rise. All adhesives used in these products must be adapted specifically for these requirements. When properly used, adhesives can improve a composite’s performance and increase its longevity.
