What is a STILL LIFE? A still-life is a picture of objects that don't move. Often vases, bowls of fruit, bottles etc.

•A still life may be a drawing or a painting. •The artist looks at the objects and studies their shape, where the light falls and the shadows the objects make in relation to the other objects.

YOUR PROJECT… •We will set up a still life in the classroom for you to draw from. •You will spend 2 days creating a CONTOUR LINE drawing of the still life in class.

Notice how well watercolor paints BLEND and FADE OUT!!

•The objects in your still life should OVERLAP each other to show a sense of SPACE. •Include CAST SHADOWS and HIGHLIGHTS in your still life. This will make your art look more 3-D!
