PROCEEDINGS
Bro Morris Lee pastor of Walnut Grove Baptist Church welcomed everyone to the 100th Annual Session of the Stewart County Baptist Association and opened the session with prayer.
Bro. Jerry Essary, TBC expressed his appreciation for the generosity in giving to the Cooperative program, Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong, and other missions. He stated currently in Tennessee there are 5.6 million people of which on any given Sunday 4.5 million are stating home from church; 2 million claim to have zero religion. He challenged the group to pray “God open my eyes to those around me” so we may become intentional again in winning people to Jesus.
Bro Bruce Evans gave the Youth Directors report. He stated there were five events this year to involve youth and seven (7) were saved. They have started a Stewart County Youth Allegiance to glorify the Lord.
Bro Russell Luffman gave the Music Report. He stated he had participated in several campground ministries, homecomings, and Revivals.
Sister Molly Taylor gave the Prayer Coordinator Report. She gave thanks to TBC representative Jerry Essary and said great things are happening. She closed with the following quote: “People may refuse your love, your message, but they are defenseless against Prayer” (written by Rick Warren).
Bro. Benny Mann gave the Sunday School Report. He stated the average Sunday school attendance for this associational year was 690 and our enrollment was 1,138. The department’s goals are to encourage each church to take part in the Associational Sunday School meetings and to reach 1,000 in Sunday School on S.O.S Sunday (High Attendance Day).
Bro Bud Sherrill gave the Discipleship Training report. He encouraged all churches to participate in DT classes. Currently only half of our churches are actively involve. He invited all, not having some type of DT training, to visit Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. He reminded all of M – Night to be held November 03.
Motion was made, seconded and passed without opposition to accept these reports as given.
Congregational singing of “Take the Name of Jesus with You” was lead by
Bro. Russell Luffman while playing his guitar. Special Music was presented by Larry Fitzhugh of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Bro. Ben Clark of Lakeview Baptist Church presented the Doctrinal Message. He read from John 3 25-30. Bro Clark said God has a plan for everyone. We must settle within ourselves who we are. We need to get the right relationship with God and read the Bible. Once we know who we are and trust God, God will guide our paths in the direction he has chosen. We must decrease ourselves and increase God in our lives. We need to let God come alive within us and then spiritual growth will begin.
The call to order for the 100th Annual Associational Meeting was given by Bro. Wray Forrest, Vice Moderator. He thanked Walnut Grove for the delicious meal and their gracious hospitality.
The vice moderator called for the seating of the messengers. There were 69 messengers present. Churches represented were Bear Spring, Big Rock, Calvary, Carlisle, Corinth, Dover First, Fairview, Hurricane Creek, Lakeview, Maranatha, New Haven, Pleasant Grove, Pleasant Grove Hispanic Mission, Pugh Flat, and Walnut Grove. The Hispanic Mission is traveling between Bumpus Mills and Pleasant Grove preaching. Employers are cooperating by allowing employees to get off earlier to attend services. Bro. Vidal stated God is blessing them a little at a time. He stated he had performed 25 funerals since the start of the war.

At this time the Annual Program and minutes were dedicated to Deacon Hugh Anglin from Maranatha.
A motion was made and seconded to accept the dedication with no opposition.
Sis. Patsy Forrest presented the Resolution Committee Report. The committee wishes to give praise, honor, and glory to our Heavenly Father for his love and mercy. She expressed appreciation to Walnut Grove Baptist Church for hosting the meeting, the delicious meal, and special music. She thanked Bro. Clark for the Doctrinal message and Bro. Sherrill for the Evangelistic message. She thanked Bro. William Gray for his leadership in the association and the men and women who gave their time to make our meeting a success. She resolved we pray as never before for our country and its leaders and to continue prayer for our pastors and churches. Sis. Forrest concluded by reading from Deuteronomy 31:6.
A motion was made and seconded to accept the Obituary and Resolution Committee reports as given. There was no opposition.
Special Music “One Day at a Time” was presented by Sis. Bernice Fort.
Bro Bud Sherrill delivered the evangelistic message. His text was from Luke 16:19-31. He stated Jesus spoke in parables but not in this portion of text. There are three very important differences in Life, Death, and Eternity for persons who know Christ and those who do not. In Life if you know Christ you will glory in him; if not, you will glory in material items. In death, if you have known Christ, you will be carried by Angels where your soul and spirit live on; didn’t know Christ, you will lay in the cold ground. For eternity if you have Christ, you have will spend your time in heaven, but if you didn’t know Christ, you will spend eternity in the flames of hell.
At this time Bro. William Gray offered the invitation for any lost souls. He asked all to pray daily for one person in our life, who is lost. If we do, then we will be able to give testimony at the 101st Annual Meeting, of their salvation.
Bro. Russell Dunn from Calvary led in the benediction.
The 100th Annual meeting of the Stewart County Association was adjourned.

PRAYER MINISTRY REPORT
Have faith in god, Mark 11:22. As we close out this year and begin a new year, our focus should be our faith in god. When our faith is in god, nothing shall be impossible. We will believe that by the power of prayer, we can bind on earth and loose in heaven, that Satan can be cast out, that souls can be saved, that mountains can be removed, and that the prayer of the church will be the power through which the name of Jesus and his word is glorified. We must continue to give ourselves to prayer, holding fast to the confidence that in due season we shall reap if we faint not. He is moving in our midst, in that over thirteen hundred prayer concerns have passed through our prayer network this year, thanks to our faithful prayer coordinators, who work willingly to keep our needs and concerns ever before you and him. Last march, we were blessed to have Bro. Don Pierson lead us in a prayer conference. if you missed, you missed out. Blessings and thanks to you who faithfully attended our crusade and the early morning prayer meetings. Have faith in god and pray with us, as we pray for Bro. Gray, Bro. Pat, pastors and all those who are in authority over us. Be joyful always, pray and give thanks in all circumstances.
SUBMISSION BY MOLLY TAYLOR
ASSOCIATION PRAYER COORDINATOR
CHURCH MUSIC
We as the Associational Music department workers desire to help you or your church in any area of music ministry that you may find need of help in. We also would like to encourage you to participate in the State training meeting offered by our State Church Music Department. The T.B.C. Church Music department schedules associational projects annually in additions to its ongoing programs of providing Summer Music Missionaries, Camps, Retreats, Conferences and other music opportunities. We will have another Music School next year if there is enough interest. As the churches in our association continue to gather in Christian Worship, we are reminded what the Psalmist wrote: “Make His Praise Glorious.”

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Thirteen churches conducted VBS for a total enrollment of 1013. This is an increase of 102. I would like to thank all those in each church for the wonderful effort they have made in VBS in 2003. We are thankful to Terri Redmon and her team that lead a great VBS clinic. Our theme for next year will be “Rickshaw Rally, Racing to the Son”.

SUNDAY SCHOOL REPORT
We averaged 690 for this associational year. Our S.S. enrollment is 1,138.
GOALS
1. To encourage each church to take part in the Associational Sunday School meetings.
2. To reach 1,000 in Sunday School on S.O.S. Sunday (High Attendance Day).

EVANGELISM
The churches in our Association for the year 2002-2003 reported 111 baptisms (increase of 9). There were 79 (increase of 7) members received by letter and statement. The total decisions by baptisms, letter, and statements were 190. Our Area Wide Crusade was a great success. We had several professions of faith and several rededications. We are looking forward to next years crusade. We had only one church reporting no baptisms. We encourage that each church observe or attend the following:
1. Soul-Winning Commitment Day. 2. The State Evangelism Conference. 3. The Association Evangelism conference. 4. Youth Evangelism Conference in Nashville. 5. Conduct witnessing training.
To encourage and assist TN. Baptist to communicate personally the gospel to every person in TN.

EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT
The purpose of this report is to highlight the actions and decisions made by the Executive Board during the year 2002. The following churches hosted quarterly meetings: Big Rock, Calvary, Carlisle, and Corinth.
In April of this year, the Constitution/Petitional Committee received request from New Hope Baptist to join the Stewart County Association. The committee recommended this request and was voted to approve request.
In September the Associational Link-up was held at Sylvia Baptist Church. October was the month of the 3rd annual Joint Associational Meeting with Truett, Judson, and Stewart. This was held at Little Rock Baptist Church in Erin.
In October, the Executive Board met at Corinth Baptist Church. It was voted to seek new entertainment/evangelist for the 2004 crusade. The Evangelistic Committee will bring recommendations to the January Executive Board meeting.
All meetings were conducted in a mannerly and harmonious atmosphere reflecting our Christian faith.

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING REPORT
The Association Discipleship Training Program serves the churches through its effort to satisfy at least four needs:
1. More meaningful Christian fellowship.
2. Increased spiritual motivation.
3. Better understanding of Discipleship Training.
4. Greater involvement in shared experiences.
The Association has an opportunity to help churches accomplish these training tasks: training new church members, training church leaders, and training church members. Training is still done in the majority of our churches on Sunday nights as on-going training in small groups by ages using pre-graded materials, but it is being expanded more and more to other approaches using Equipping Centers, New Member Training, Masterlife and Disciple Youth , Individual Training, Study Course Books and Baptist Doctrine Study. We assist churches in all areas of training and believe our task is to see all church members following Christ in discipleship. All church members disciplined to their full potential is exactly what Jesus told us to do in Mt. 28:19-20, “As you go make disciples....and teach them to do (observe).”
To accomplish this goal we will work towards the following objectives in the coming year:
1. Lead our churches to provide new member training.
2. Encourage members from each church to attend “M” Night. (A Goal of 100 in attendance).
3. Encourage members from each church to participate in our Associational D.T. Program.
4. Promote participation in the Church Study Course, and Life Programs.
5. To strive for 100% of churches in the association with a Discipleship Training program.
