Scope:
The scope of this document is limited to the steps involved in restoring database from a valid backup to a new server.
Steps
1. Create a new database instance and startup in nomount mode.2. Create the instance sub-client within Commvault.3. Restore using a valid backup within Commvault- See the screen shut below:
Expand the Client Computers
Scroll down to the Client required for restore.
We are interested in the ddcerp006 and APP1PRD instance.
Highlight the Oracle Instance and right click for All Task, View and Properties.
Click on View to check the backup history needed for the restore.
Click OK
This gives a view of the entire available backup for the particular instance. Choose the desire backup for the restore.
Double click the highlighted to get the details of the backup.
Right click to get the Browse and Restore page
Click on View Content
Select the Instance
Click on Recover All Selected
Change the destination Client to where you want to restore to.
Change the Number of Streams to use for restore
Select Restore Control File
Select NO CATALOG
Click on Advance
Click on Redirect Tab
Click Redirect All Table Spaces/Database to: Once and Click on Redirect again in other to activate the Find and Replace button.
Click on Find and Replace button to replace all location to the new location.
Click on Replace All

Check that the replace was done correctly by expanding each table space object
Click on Restore Tab
Click on Ctrl & SP Files Tab
Select Restore From Autobackup
Select To Point In Time (This is optional)
Match the time with what was in the Restore TAB.
Select Recover Tab
Change the time to match Restore time to time.
Click on Options Tab
Select Set DBID
Click OK
OK to start the restore
Go to the job controller to view the Job progress.
Highlight and double click the job
And Click on View RMAN Log
