Position Title Bureau of Meterology - Data Analyst Intern Location Sydney, NSW Position Duration Minimum of 152 hours or 4 weeks full time Commencing December 2019 Position Overview Space Weather Services ( https://www.sws.bom.gov.au ) within the Bureau of Meteorology ( http://www.bom.gov.au/ ) delivers products and services to government agencies and industry to help mitigate the effects of space weather on technological systems. We are keen to host an intern this summer at the Bureau's Sydney office. We seek someone pursuing a degree in science, mathematics or computing to help improve our capability to describe the current state of the ionosphere. No knowledge of ionospheric physics or space weather is necessary. The main tasks relate to mathematical/scientific computer programming and data analysis. The successful applicant will be primarily supervised by Zahra Bouya, a Space Weather Scientist working on ionospheric modelling for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and high-frequency (HF) radio communication applications. Position Overview

Space Weather Services (https://www.sws.bom.gov.au) within the Bureau of Meteorology (http://www.bom.gov.au/) delivers products and services to government agencies and industry to help mitigate the effects of space weather on technological systems. Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

Permanent residents and Australian citizens only

Identify as having disability

Successful completion of the Bureau's ICT Security Compliance online course on commencement, and adherence to the Australian Public Service Values (https://www.apsc.gov.au/aps-values-1) and Code of Conduct (https://www.apsc.gov.au/code-conduct) for the term of the internship is required
