ATTENTION PARENTS OF ENTERING KINDERGARTEN AND 7TH GRADE STUDENTS: Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, there are new immunization requirements for children entering kindergarten and 7th grade.

All students entering kindergarten must have had TWO varicella vaccinations All students entering 7th grade must have had one Tdap vaccination and one meningococcal

vaccination These new requirements are in addition to the existing school immunization requirements. According to Maryland School Immunization Regulations (COMAR 10.06.04), to be allowed in school, students must be immunized according to the Maryland Recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule. A child has up to 20 days from the start of school to show proof of vaccinations or that they have started a plan to get the missing immunizations.

Page 3: Step up to Respect Jump to Responsibility Accelerate to ...images.pcmac.org › SiSFiles › Schools › MD › StJoanofArc › School › U… · with David unningham, a local artist,

You should work with your child’s doctor to get his/her immunization record or the vaccinations that are missing. If you are unable to get an immunization appointment with your child’s health care provider, call your local health department. If you have questions about immunizations that are required for school, please call your child’s doctor. Please be sure to provide the school with your child’s updated immunization record. FACTS TUITION PAYMENTS FOR 2014-15: We are quickly approaching the deadline for finalizing payment plans for the 2014-15 school year. The Reenrollment Notice was emailed to all current families through the FACTS system in April. Second notices were emailed the middle of May. The email asks you to review the information and complete the Payment Option Information. You are also asked to complete the SJA School Information section at the bottom indicating your parishioner status if you are Catholic or if you are not Catholic. The form must be signed and returned to school as quickly as possible in order to complete the finalization of your FACTS payment plan. Otherwise, you will be charged the non-Catholic rate of tuition. There are still some families who have not yet returned their forms. If you have not received a finalization email from FACTS outlining your payment plan, it is probably because we have not received your form. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

“Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry” -— Padre Pio

St. Joan of Arc School Aberdeen, Maryland

(410) 272-1387

June, 2014

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GRADUATES

Congratulations to the Graduates of the Class of 2014!

Each year, we are saddened when our students leave yet excited for the opportunities ahead for which we have prepared them well. You have been taught and formed by the faculty and staff at St. Joan of Arc School, many of you since Kindergarten. During those years, the faculty and staff have grown to love and care for you as they provided you with an excellent education. It is our mission to nurture the whole child; intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually which is exemplified in you, our students.

This year, we are so proud of the accomplishments of the class of 2014! Our 21 students were accepted at 34 schools to which they applied. Many of these programs are highly competitive, such as the science and Math Academy, the North Harford Animal Science and Natural Resource programs, the International Baccalaureate Program and the Catholic High STEM program. You have received over $190,000 in scholarships to Catholic High, John Carroll, and Calvert Hall. We are delighted that you have taken advantage of the STEM education offered here at St. Joan of Arc School to better prepare you for the future. The world continues to change each day and I am confident that the skills of innovation, collaboration, problem-solving and reasoning will be significant to you as you form your future. God has created each of you uniquely with talents that can be used to enrich society.

To all of our graduates, we pray that you will remember us fondly, visit us often, and keep us updated on your progress as you continue to grow and learn. In a smaller school, relationships are forged which will continue to influence you for the rest of your lives. May you always be influenced by God, who created you uniquely and loves you unconditionally; by Jesus, who modeled a life of service to others; and by the Holy Spirit who will guide you with wisdom. I know that the quote from your beautiful mural of St. Joan of Arc will shine forth in your lives-- “You are brave; you have the strength of an army. Believe in yourself and you will be your own.” We believe in you!

I wish you peace and all good, Mrs. Bahr

As we say good-bye to yet another school year, we would also like to take this

opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our faculty and staff, as well as all of our school families. Working together has produced wonderful results for our children.

Our school families are to be commended for the time you have given and the talents you have shared with the children, faculty, and parish. We are most appreciative of all you have done to make St. Joan’s such a wonderful school. Most especially we would like to thank our Home School Association Officers Megan Cornett, Jennifer Crosson, Claudia Brown, Carrie Stock, and members at large, Annie Hinton, Christina Kennedy, Robin Phelan, Joe Cianelli, and Shani Ortiz who have worked so hard this year. The hours upon hours of time you have given to the school is greatly appreciated.

BEST OF LUCK

We send our best to those families who will no longer be with us in the fall. Thank you for the time we’ve had together and may God bless you and keep you well. We will miss you and hope that you will look back on St. Joan’s with many fond memories.

ARCHDIOCESAN POLICY ON DELIQUENT ACCOUNTS

We would like to remind families whose account may be in arrears that St. Joan’s does follow the policy of the Archdiocese of Baltimore in withholding student progress reports, diplomas, transcripts, etc. until such time that full payment is made. This includes payment of service hours that have not been completed. If your account is in arrears, all final payments are due by June 9.

MEDICATIONS

Parents are asked to please pick up any student medications from the health room. Any medications that are not picked up will be discarded at the end of June.
