Oculus Quest headset set up: developer mode

• You must enable developer mode for the Oculus device in the companion app on your mobile phone. Before you can put your device in developer mode, you must belong to (or have created) a developer organization

• Enable Developer Mode

• Once you belong to a developer organization, follow these steps to put your device in developer mode:

1. Turn on the device you want to use for GAIM application.

2. Open the Oculus app on your phone and then go to Settings.

3. Tap the device and then go to More Settings > Developer Mode.

4. Turn on the Developer Mode toggle.

5. Connect your device to your computer using a USB-C cable and then wear the device.

6. Accept Allow USB Debugging in headset and Always allow from this computer when prompted to on the device.

Download and unpack zip-file

• Download your GAIM VR Installer software on:

• https://www.gaim.com/gaim-os

• Important: un-zip the whole file (do not open file and then right click on ”install” to un-zip thatfile alone, else this will cause problems later)

• Note: If you are engaged as beta tester for new hunting scenarios, that installer is called ”GaimOS_Installer_Beta” and can only access development software

Connect computer and Headset• You need to use PC, we do not support Mac yet

• Connect USB-C connector in Quest headset and USB-C connector in PC

• If your PC does not have USB-C, you need a cable with:• USB-A (USB-3.0) male and USB-C male

• Most tech stores have these, e.g:• elfa.se (art nr: 301-30-539)

• netonnet.se (art nr: 1004181)

• Webhallen.com (art nr: 319421)

• Only using an adapter (USB-A to USB-C) is not enough

• When headset is connected, you need to approve that PCinside headset

Run installation files on PC

• Open the un-zipped file from GAIM.com

• Double click on ”GaimOS_Installer_v1_0 when PC and headset are connected

• Approve on PC if requested (depends on your settings)

Run and install GAIM software

• Expected result in command window for version 1.2.0:

Start GAIM application

1. GaimOS Installer is available under ”Apps”

2. Change sources to include ”Unknownsources”

3. Click on GaimOS Installer to start• First time: approve that Installer can run on your

headset

• Let Installer stay on headset for future needs

4. Then click on GAIM_OS to start yourhunting experience• Next time use: only click on GAIM_OS

Bluetooth pairing: Trigger - Headset

• First time:• Re-boot Oculus headset

• Insert battery in Trigger unit

• Open Oculus app on mobile phone

• Pair new controller: Gamepad

From V26 in Oculus it’s possible to pair the trigger with the headset, the solution is under development by Oculus why we also offer a back-up solution with dongle, see last slide.

Bluetooth pairing

• In headset you can check your paireddevices:

• Settings / Experimental Features /Bluetooth Pairing /Pair

• GAIM Controller should be visible in the list and availableas ”Input Device”

• Next time you use the headset:• Start Oculus headset

• Pull trigger one-two times

• Wait 20-30s, for bluetooth connection to establish

• Done!

Enter License key

• In your delivery confirmation e-mail there is a license key(e.g ABCDE-NAME1-ABCDE)

• Inside headset, enter your key exactly as written in your mail. Press ”play”

• In some cases, you need to go back to license key input and press ”play” again

• If license key is not accepted, try to reload game

• If that does not work, re-start headset

• If that does not work – contact [email protected]

Download content1. When license key is accepted, you can download GAIM content

2. All modules download and are ready to be used, click on any tileto open content.

USB Dongle pairing

• First time:• Insert USB dongle in headset. LED should turn purple to indicate it is ready to be paired

• Then, long press your trigger -30s (to re-set trigger)

• When trigger and USB dongle are paired, the USB dongle turns black

• Now, every time you pull the trigger, the USB dongle should turn green

• Leave the USB dongle in headset while using the system (it is a temporary solution until Oculus release a SW thatremove the BlueTooth bug)

• When you are finished using the system, remove USB Dongle and charge your headset

• Next time you use the headset:• Insert USB dongle in headset

• Pull trigger one-two times

• Wait 10s

• USB dongle and trigger are connected. Check by pulling trigger to see the green light
