4CsActivities with Natural Flow
Welcome to the LEGO Education way to teachActivity Packs from LEGO Education are developed by experienced educators and have a natural flow that engages and motivates students. We call it the 4C approach: Connect, Construct, Contemplate and Continue.
1 CONNECT
4 CONTINUE
2 CONSTRUCT
3 CONTEMPLATE
It is important to capture students interest in order to have a positive and motivating learning environment. LEGO Education always begins with an engaging challenge introduced through real-life video clips, photos, stories or animations that students can relate to and find compelling.
Students work in teams to solve an open-ended building task related to the challenge. They make their own solutions, then plan, build and test their models or software programmes.
Extension ideas that present a new challenge within the same theme are provided. Students are encouraged to change or add features to their models, thereby leadingthem to a new Connect phase. This allows them to enter a positive learning spiral, in which they take on increasingly difficult challenges.
Students think about what they have just constructed and achieved. They discuss the project at hand, reflect on and adapt their ideas, and teachers can encourage this process by asking questions.

Lets help Sam and Sally!
Build a popcorn cart like the one in the picture.
Your design brief is as follows: Build a popcorn cart. Make a sign that can turn. Build a mechanism that makes the sign turn when you turn a handle.
When you have fi nished, test your cart. Count how many times the sign spins for every fi ve turns of the handle. Assess how easily the sign can be read at a distance. What makes it easy or diffi cult to read?

LME EV3 Design EngineeringProjects
This curriculum package comes with 30 hours of classroom
instruction and open-ended problem-solving activities that
make learning of science and mathematics through real-life
robotics engaging and fun for students. The curriculum features
three main sections with five design projects per section for a
total of 15 projects.
The structure of the activities mimics the engineering design
process used by scientists and engineers in many industries.
Each project starts with a design brief explaining the challenge,
uses videos of robots in action to make real-world connections,
and culminates in a final project that can be shared and
presented. Throughout the process, students gain and use
knowledge of science, technology and mathematics as they
engineer a solution. This structure is designed to help students
develop the 21st-century creative thinking, problem solving,
teamwork and communication skills required for success in
school and beyond.
The curriculum is digitally-delivered and installs directly into the
LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 programming software
lobby. The in-built content editor enables teachers to customise
the curriculum and create their own lessons. It enables students
to capture their work directly inside the content creating their
own digital workbook, making classroom management and
assessment easier.

Innovation Lab by LEGO Education in Science Centre Singapore, is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
The Innovation Lab provides a unique hands-on, minds-on environment that supports and enriches the entire learning process. Its an innovative way of both learning and teaching one that will stimulate your students, motivate your teachers and enhance the wider academic reputation of your school.
Research has shown that when we allow children to use multiple senses during the learning process, they have better chances of fully understanding and remembering what they have learned. We believe that more playful, creative and hands-on methods engage students of all abilities to achieve results. While this lends itself to the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) a more progressive approach can be successfully applied to all curriculum subjects, including literacy.
Tomorrows scientists and engineers are sitting in our classrooms today. Lets build something that will transform these classrooms into places for creative and successful learning, as well as encourage and inspire students by bringing the subjects to life.

Rocketry is thoroughly explored in this course where students build and experiment with four types of rockets: easy straw rockets, air-powered tube rockets, water-fuelled bottle rockets and solid-fuel rockets. Along the way, they learn about centre of gravity, types of variables, design, apogee measurement, basic trigonometry and much more.
Mechanical drafting doesnt have to be intimidating. This course helps students learn about drafting tools and instruments and basic concepts for using them, such as lettering, measuring and line conventions. After students master these draf t ing basics, they move on to dimensioning and drawing, and are challenged with drawing exercises.
Transportation, production and building would still be in the Dark Ages without mechanical engineering. By building electric, solar and mousetrap vehicles, students understand performance and energy before using cranes, siege machines and hydraulic robotic arms to experience force, initial velocity, potential and kinetic energy, mechanical advantage and more!

Hydrocar
i-H2GO
Solar HydrogenScience Kit
Hydrocar demonstrates a complete, clean-energy system
with solar to hydrogen power generation. Powered by
electricity from sunlight, the reversible fuel cell illustrates
the principles of water electrolysis, separating hydrogen
from water and then recombining these elements to create
power in an extremely efficient process. Also, the car can
steer independently to avoid running into obstacles.
The i-H2GO is the most technologically advanced toy car on
the market. Harness the power of sunlight with a solar panel in
order to charge the hydrogen refuelling station. Use the
station to generate hydrogen through water electrolysis,
refuel the car and charge up the super capacitor. Transparent
casing and LED lights are designed to highlight all these
electrochemical processes the same processes as in
real-scale hybrid vehicles. Control the car using a smartphone
or an electronic tablet engage gyro-steering to turn the
i-H2GOs wheels simply by tilting the device.
Invent your own clean energy applications using fuel cells
and the power of the sun. Generate hydrogen in a
completely sustainable process by using a solar panel to
power water electrolysis. Convert hydrogen into electrical

Salt Water Fuel CellScience Kit
Horizon EnergyMonitor
Ethanol Fuel Cell Science Kit
Thermal Power Science Kit
Now you can demonstrate a cutting edge fuel cell concept: combine a saltwater electrolyte with magnesium plates to generate electrical energy. This kit enables you to investigate the science behind saltwater fuel cell technology, either by powering the included mini-turbine or creating your own power applications.
Voltage, current, power, joules, resistance and even RPM speed become available at the touch of a button displayed either on the LCD screen of the monitor itself or as graphical data on your PC. The Energy Monitor helps bring lab and field experiments back into the classroom, making it the ideal tool to complement the Renewable Energy Science Kit (FCJJ-37).
Discover the workings of a direct ethanol fuel cell and the principles behind the conversion of ethanol into electrical energy through oxidisation. Begin the process in the ethanol/water mix container, then transfer this solution into the fuel cell via silicon tubing where it will be converted into electrical energy to power a mini turbine.
Now you can generate electricity using nothing more than a combination of hot and cold water and a special conversion cell. As the temperature evens out between the two containers of water, the power level drops. LED and mini turbines demonstrate the variance in the electrical power being generated. Also, there are two thermometers to keep track of the temperature levels.
