A street in an Indian town. It is winter,& the whether is rather cold. A shop is to be seen with theShopkeeper sitting over his little charcoal fire. Bhim comes in & salaams to the shopkeeper ,holding on his biggining-bowl.the man pays no attention to him,but shout ,``jao!”Bhim sit down on the path ,and continus to make appeals to the Shopkeeper.

BHIM: sir!Kind master!See how cold I am.You have your fire your warm blanket,but look at my naked body.have pity on te poor on such a cold day.Master, sparesonly two annas

SHOPKEEPER: Get away from my shop.You are very lasy fellow.how dirty you are,and how dirty your cloths are. You sopil all the look of my shop.BHIM master,maharaj! Help the hungry; I have not eaten to-day.

BANKER: what are you bigging here! I thought that my begger questions had been settled.In this town.You seem an able-bodied man. Do you know that a strong fellow like you can getTwelve annas a day, digging the bund of new tank? The police have ordered that arrest all beggers.

BHIM: Sahib, I have no strength for to the dig.I am weak & I have no food for days. Sahib for pity’s sake, just four annas.BANKER.certainly not! Why I was the first to raise question of beggers in the muncipal council! I told them what a bad thing it is to encourage beggers. Off you go!The banker goes inti the shop, but BHIM continues to make appeals from outside.

BHIM: Maharaj I shall die if I do not eat son. I am truly dying the hunger.But four annas would save my Life.I would be a glad to work if I could get a chance.

BANKER: there is a plenty of work in our town now-a-days.But I know men like you.they will never work as long as silly people give them money and food for nothing. Send him away!(A SERVANT comes out of the shop & pushes cloths, comes along and look at the scence

POOR MAN: Hulloa! What is this about? What have you done to offend gopalan , the shopkeeper That his servant trees you like this?

BHIM: Sir,I have done no harm. I did but I ask for one anna, to help me out of my hunger.

SERVENT: This fellow stand outsides the shop and annoys my masters computers with his bigging.And he will be arrested and locked up if they see you.Life is very hard for poor people ; I can’t tell you that,because I am one of them.BHIM. But you have some cloths to wear such a cold days.Look at my cloths.!POOR MAN. They are not very grand, but they could at least they washed.And tear can always be mended .If you gave a little care to your cloth, They would look better. But I must go. Here is half an anna for you.

Lady luck: I see you are greedy in your own wayas the Banker and the Shop-keeper. Well, here you are ; one-two-three-four-see, the calabash is breaking![The old begging bowl breaks into with the weight of gold , and the cooings fall to the ground. At once they all turn to dust and disappear. So does Lady luck.Bhim tries to save than from falling ,but finds only dust in his hands.]Bhim: Oh, my money ! It is all gone ! Help me,Lady luck! She is gone too. Why was I so greedy? Why did I not listen to her? O how foolishI have been! Come back , Lady Luck ,and give me another chance! Come back!
