Long-distance journeys are particularly dangerous, especially at night when driver fatigue is most likely to set in. The hazards of headlight dazzle and animals on the open road are made much worse when the driver is tired. Falling asleep at the wheel for just a moment can kill you and your passengers, as well as the occupants of another vehicle. So stop often, before you feel drowsy. Eat, drink, stretch and walk about, then continue your journey. Passengers – keep your driver alert. A safe journey is also up to you. More people are killed and injured on the road in December than at any other time of the year. TAKE YOUR TIME. Don’t drive when you are tired.
