DESCRIPTION

New Jig(s) Expect to be manufacturing 130nm stave cores by the end of – Procedures probably same as previously so ‘new’ jig should be capable of manufacturing staves more-or-less immediately Proposed programme – Review design of CF jig and ‘C’-channel jig Identify components (eg inserts, edge close-outs, facesheets?) which could remain the same (i.e. drawings exist) and manufacture could start now. Identify components needing design revision & what input is needed to do so; – Eg ‘C’-channel jig needs stave width, ‘C’-channel jig fixes hole positions in CF jig. – Suggest ‘mini-review’ at Oxford sometime late June/early July to discuss Jig requirements. TJJ, JLC, GV, SY + (IW…. ?) – Jig Schedule Parts manufacture from now to end August Stave Jig assembly from September (last one took 3 months – expect this one to be quicker!) Assembly trials from mid-October

Current Tooling• Components

– CF jig + ‘C’-channel jig & various face-sheet positioning aids

• It works!– Seems to produce nice flat staves

• What needs to change?– Geometry: 13 modules, width, thickness

• Are there any cosmetic/functional improvements?– One of the steel feet fell off!– Segment the vacuum channels?– Large number of internal ‘inserts’ of several different types – Think about materials for long-term use
