1. Introductory provisionsThe aim of the international wine competition IceWine du Monde is to conduct an evaluation and comparison of ice, straw and other sweet wines from various countries of the world on a high professional level.

2. OrganiserThe competition is organised by the company

3. Conditions of EntryThe competition is designated for sweet wines with a residual sugar content of minimum 45 g/l. The competition is not designated for fortified wines.

The entered wines must meet the conditions of these statutes and be produced in accordance with the wine-making legislation in the country of origin of the given wine. By entering a wine in the competition, the applicant expresses agreement to respect the conditions of these statutes.

The sample of the entered wine must originate from an integrated batch of at minimum 100 l.

4. Date of EventJudging of competing wines: 30 August – 1 September 2013

The judging of the wines and the ceremonial announcement of the results shall take place in the superb premises of the state chateau in Lednice, which forms part of the unique Lednice-Valtice complex, entered in the UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage List.

5. Entry of Wines and Delivery of SamplesEntry of wines takes place via an online system at the internet address www.elwis.cz/en/icewine-du-monde-2013

For each wine, the applicant enters the following information in the on-line application form:

• Trade name of wine (in accordance with wine label)

• Cultivar or composition of cuvée (by statement of proportion of cultivars in %)

• Year of harvest

• Quality classification or appellation

• Country of origin, if applicable also wine region and sub-region

• Batch number

• Size of batch in litres

• Sugar content (glucose + fructose) in g/l

• Total acid content in g/l (expressed as tartaric acid)

• Actual alcohol content in % vol.

• Sugar-free extract (g/l)

• Total SO2 content

• Competition category according to these statutes.

In exceptional cases it is possible to complete the application form also in the format of an MS Word document. This form can be requested at the e-mail address [email protected]

Deadline for entry of wines: 5 August 2013

Deadline for delivery of samples: Samples shall be accepted until 12 August 2013

Delivery location for samples: Národní vinařské centrum, o.p.s., Zámek 1, 691 42 VALTICE, Czech Republic

One sample constitutes:

• 4 fully adjusted bottles in the case of 0.75 l bottles; or

• 6 fully adjusted bottles in the case of 0.5 l or 0.375 l bottles; or

• 9 fully adjusted bottles in the case of 0.2 l bottles.

All the samples of wines must be fully adjusted in the manner in which they are presented for sale, and must meet the legislative conditions of the country of origin.

Any statement of false information in the application form or false indication of the sample authorises the organiser to exclude the sample without providing the compensation of return of the application fee.

Together with the samples, the applicant shall deliver:

• the application form, printed from the internet application system and signed by a competent person on behalf of the applicant

• a copy of a chemical analysis of the wine

• in the case of wines from the Czech Republic also a copy of a document on classification of wine from the State Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority.

Any customs charges shall be covered by the exhibitor at its own costs. The organiser shall make no allowances for samples on which customs charges have not been paid.

6. Application FeeThe application fee for each entered sample constitutes:

• For applicants from the Czech Republic: CZK 2 800.00 or € 120.00 plus VAT according to the legal prescriptions of the Czech Republic (21%), i.e. CZK 3 388.00 or € 145.20.

• For applicants from the European Union outside the Czech Republic: € 120.00 plus VAT according to the legal prescriptions of the Czech Republic (21%), i.e. € 145.20. Applicants – VAT payers in their own country are entitled to pay the fee exempt from VAT in the Czech Republic. A condition is substantiation of the applicant’s valid VAT registration number in the European Union.

• For applicants from outside the European Union: € 120.00 plus VAT according to the legal prescriptions of the Czech Republic (21%), i.e. € 145.20.

The applicant will pay an entry fee in cash during the delivery of samples or by a transfer to the bank account of the organiser of the expert judging (based on an invoice that will be issued in accordance with the entry form):

The amount must be credited to the bank account of the organiser of the professional judging in the full amount by 28 August 2013 at the latest. In the case of a bank transfer, the amount must be sent in such a manner that ensures that the applicant bears the costs of all bank charges.

7. Judging Commission

Competition President

The competition president (president of the jury) directs the work of the commissions and supervises the regularity of the competition in co-operation with the competition director and oenologist. The president decides on the method of judging and the work of the commissions, and addresses any contentious issues in the judging of the wines. The president has access to the preparation of samples, in which he/she is authorised to abide by the principle of preserving the anonymity of the presented wines for the judges.

Competition Director

The competition director decides on organisational matters and directs the work of the auxiliary staff in co-operation with the competition president and oenologist.

Competition Oenologist

The competition oenologist is responsible for the correct handling and labelling of wines, correct classification of wines in the computer evaluation system, correct allocation of wines to commissions, temperature and regularity of presentation of wines, and guarantees the anonymity of the presented wines. Upon request from the president of the jury or the chairmen of the commissions, the oenologist shall provide further analytical information on any applicable contentious issues; naturally without compromising the anonymity of the presented wines.

Chairman and Members of Commissions

The wines shall be judged in five-member international commissions composed of distinguished international wine experts.

The individual members of the judging commissions shall be appointed by the organiser from the ranks of generally recognised experts in the field of sensory analysis of wine. A precondition for the participation of judges from the Czech Republic is valid State Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority sensory examinations or wine tasting examinations according to the European norms ISO 8586-2.

The judges work under the guidance of the chairman of the commission, appointed by the organiser, who has experience of demanding national or international wine competitions. The judgement of the chairman of the commission is calculated in the overall judgement.

8. Judging of Competition WinesThe wines shall be judged by a one-hundred-point system according to the OIV standard from 2009, with the help of the National Wine Centre’s computer system for judging wines. The resulting evaluation of the sample is given by the arithmetical average of the judgements of the members of the commission, eliminating the outermost values.

The resulting judgement of the wine taster printed from the evaluation system shall be signed by the wine taster and the chairman of the commission, and shall be archived for a minimum period of 5 years.

Wines shall be classified according to categories, after which they shall be classified according to residual sugar content in ascending order.

The wines shall be presented for judging at the temperature of 10 – 14 °C.

Judging of wines is strictly anonymous, the organiser shall ensure such a method of service which ensures that it is not possible to identify the sample before sensory evaluation.

Each of the wine tasters judges independently and has his/her own wine tasting seat allocated according to the tasting rules, which is provided with in particular still water, white bread products, napkins and a vessel for pouring wine into after tasting. Judging of the wines is independent, with emphasis on a high degree of objectivity of the judging. No discussion of the sample is permitted before submission of the evaluation, with the exception of cases in which one of the members of the commission proposes a repeat or elimination of a sample due to a defect thereof.

The commissions shall judge the wines from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. Each judging day commences with a discussion and calibration sample. The total number of judged samples in a single commission during a single judging day shall not exceed 20.

9. Awards, Diplomas, Medals, Labelling of WinesThe following medals shall be awarded in the competition:

• Great gold medal – from 92 points upwards

• Gold medal – from 88 points upwards

• Silver medal – from 84 points upwards

• Bronze medal – from 80 points upwards

The organiser undertakes to award medals to no more than 30% of the total number of entered wines. This criterion will be applied in each category. If there are several wines with the same rating and this is over the limit of awarding medals in a category, another criterion for awarding medals is the arithmetic mean without eliminating the extreme values, or average.

Possibility of labelling bottles

On the basis of the issue of a diploma certifying the awarding of the relevant prize or medal, the producer has the right to label bottles of the production batch in question with adhesive logos stating the award and competition:

• Great gold medal

• Gold medal

• Silver medal

• Bronze medal (if awarded in accordance with the rule of max. 30% of awarded medals).

The applicant may purchase these self-adhesive logos from the organiser. Any other labelling of the bottles with logos other than those issued by the organiser is prohibited.

The applicant may also use the graphic form of the given medal in its promotional materials, catalogues, website etc. This use is subject to the written approval of the organiser.

10. Media Coverage of ResultsThe results of the competition shall be published in a competition catalogue, which shall be issued on the day of the public announcement of the results and awarding of the prizes. In addition the results shall be published by the media partners of the competition, on the websites www.icewine-du-monde.com, www.wineofczechrepublic.cz and on other websites.

Judging of Competition WinesThe wines shall be judged by a one-hundred-point system according to the OIV standard from 2009, with the help of the National Wine Centre’s computer system for judging wines. The resulting evaluation of the sample is given by the arithmetical average of the judgements of the members of the commission, eliminating the outermost values.

The resulting judgement of the wine taster printed from the evaluation system shall be signed by the wine taster and the chairman of the commission, and shall be archived for a minimum period of 5 years.

Wines shall be classified according to categories, after which they shall be classified according to residual sugar content in ascending order.

The wines shall be presented for judging at the temperature of 10 – 14 °C.

Judging of wines is strictly anonymous, the organiser shall ensure such a method of service which ensures that it is not possible to identify the sample before sensory evaluation.

Each of the wine tasters judges independently and has his/her own wine tasting seat allocated according to the tasting rules, which is provided with in particular still water, white bread products, napkins and a vessel for pouring wine into after tasting. Judging of the wines is independent, with emphasis on a high degree of objectivity of the judging. No discussion of the sample is permitted before submission of the evaluation, with the exception of cases in which one of the members of the commission proposes a repeat or elimination of a sample due to a defect thereof.

The commissions shall judge the wines from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. Each judging day commences with a discussion and calibration sample. The total number of judged samples in a single commission during a single judging day shall not exceed 20.

9. Awards, Diplomas, Medals, Labelling of WinesThe following medals shall be awarded in the competition:

• Great gold medal – from 92 points upwards

• Gold medal – from 88 points upwards

• Silver medal – from 84 points upwards

• Bronze medal – from 80 points upwards

The organiser undertakes to award medals to no more than 30% of the total number of entered wines. This criterion will be applied in each category. If there are several wines with the same rating and this is over the limit of awarding medals in a category, another criterion for awarding medals is the arithmetic mean without eliminating the extreme values, or average.

Possibility of labelling bottles

On the basis of the issue of a diploma certifying the awarding of the relevant prize or medal, the producer has the right to label bottles of the production batch in question with adhesive logos stating the award and competition:

• Great gold medal

• Gold medal

• Silver medal

• Bronze medal (if awarded in accordance with the rule of max. 30% of awarded medals).

The applicant may purchase these self-adhesive logos from the organiser. Any other labelling of the bottles with logos other than those issued by the organiser is prohibited.

The applicant may also use the graphic form of the given medal in its promotional materials, catalogues, website etc. This use is subject to the written approval of the organiser.

10. Media Coverage of ResultsThe results of the competition shall be published in a competition catalogue, which shall be issued on the day of the public announcement of the results and awarding of the prizes. In addition the results shall be published by the media partners of the competition, on the websites www.icewine-du-monde.com, www.wineofczechrepublic.cz and on other websites.

1. Introductory provisionsThe aim of the international wine competition IceWine du Monde is to conduct an evaluation and comparison of ice, straw and other sweet wines from various countries of the world on a high professional level.

3. Conditions of EntryThe competition is designated for sweet wines with a residual sugar content of minimum 45 g/l. The competition is not designated for fortified wines.

The entered wines must meet the conditions of these statutes and be produced in accordance with the wine-making legislation in the country of origin of the given wine. By entering a wine in the competition, the applicant expresses agreement to respect the conditions of these statutes.

The sample of the entered wine must originate from an integrated batch of at minimum 100 l.

4. Date of EventJudging of competing wines: 30 August – 1 September 2013

The judging of the wines and the ceremonial announcement of the results shall take place in the superb premises of the state chateau in Lednice, which forms part of the unique Lednice-Valtice complex, entered in the UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage List.

5. Entry of Wines and Delivery of SamplesEntry of wines takes place via an online system at the internet address www.elwis.cz/en/icewine-du-monde-2013

For each wine, the applicant enters the following information in the on-line application form:

• Trade name of wine (in accordance with wine label)

• Cultivar or composition of cuvée (by statement of proportion of cultivars in %)

• Year of harvest

• Quality classification or appellation

• Country of origin, if applicable also wine region and sub-region

• Batch number

• Size of batch in litres

• Sugar content (glucose + fructose) in g/l

• Total acid content in g/l (expressed as tartaric acid)

• Actual alcohol content in % vol.

• Sugar-free extract (g/l)

• Total SO2 content

• Competition category according to these statutes.

In exceptional cases it is possible to complete the application form also in the format of an MS Word document. This form can be requested at the e-mail address [email protected]

Deadline for entry of wines: 5 August 2013

Deadline for delivery of samples: Samples shall be accepted until 12 August 2013

Delivery location for samples: Národní vinařské centrum, o.p.s., Zámek 1, 691 42 VALTICE, Czech Republic

One sample constitutes:

• 4 fully adjusted bottles in the case of 0.75 l bottles; or

• 6 fully adjusted bottles in the case of 0.5 l or 0.375 l bottles; or

• 9 fully adjusted bottles in the case of 0.2 l bottles.

All the samples of wines must be fully adjusted in the manner in which they are presented for sale, and must meet the legislative conditions of the country of origin.

Any statement of false information in the application form or false indication of the sample authorises the organiser to exclude the sample without providing the compensation of return of the application fee.

Together with the samples, the applicant shall deliver:

• the application form, printed from the internet application system and signed by a competent person on behalf of the applicant

• a copy of a chemical analysis of the wine

• in the case of wines from the Czech Republic also a copy of a document on classification of wine from the State Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority.

Any customs charges shall be covered by the exhibitor at its own costs. The organiser shall make no allowances for samples on which customs charges have not been paid.

6. Application FeeThe application fee for each entered sample constitutes:

• For applicants from the Czech Republic: CZK 2 800.00 or € 120.00 plus VAT according to the legal prescriptions of the Czech Republic (21%), i.e. CZK 3 388.00 or € 145.20.

• For applicants from the European Union outside the Czech Republic: € 120.00 plus VAT according to the legal prescriptions of the Czech Republic (21%), i.e. € 145.20. Applicants – VAT payers in their own country are entitled to pay the fee exempt from VAT in the Czech Republic. A condition is substantiation of the applicant’s valid VAT registration number in the European Union.

• For applicants from outside the European Union: € 120.00 plus VAT according to the legal prescriptions of the Czech Republic (21%), i.e. € 145.20.

The applicant will pay an entry fee in cash during the delivery of samples or by a transfer to the bank account of the organiser of the expert judging (based on an invoice that will be issued in accordance with the entry form):

The amount must be credited to the bank account of the organiser of the professional judging in the full amount by 28 August 2013 at the latest. In the case of a bank transfer, the amount must be sent in such a manner that ensures that the applicant bears the costs of all bank charges.

7. Judging Commission

Competition President

The competition president (president of the jury) directs the work of the commissions and supervises the regularity of the competition in co-operation with the competition director and oenologist. The president decides on the method of judging and the work of the commissions, and addresses any contentious issues in the judging of the wines. The president has access to the preparation of samples, in which he/she is authorised to abide by the principle of preserving the anonymity of the presented wines for the judges.

Competition Director

The competition director decides on organisational matters and directs the work of the auxiliary staff in co-operation with the competition president and oenologist.

Competition Oenologist

The competition oenologist is responsible for the correct handling and labelling of wines, correct classification of wines in the computer evaluation system, correct allocation of wines to commissions, temperature and regularity of presentation of wines, and guarantees the anonymity of the presented wines. Upon request from the president of the jury or the chairmen of the commissions, the oenologist shall provide further analytical information on any applicable contentious issues; naturally without compromising the anonymity of the presented wines.

Chairman and Members of Commissions

The wines shall be judged in five-member international commissions composed of distinguished international wine experts.

The individual members of the judging commissions shall be appointed by the organiser from the ranks of generally recognised experts in the field of sensory analysis of wine. A precondition for the participation of judges from the Czech Republic is valid State Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority sensory examinations or wine tasting examinations according to the European norms ISO 8586-2.

The judges work under the guidance of the chairman of the commission, appointed by the organiser, who has experience of demanding national or international wine competitions. The judgement of the chairman of the commission is calculated in the overall judgement.
