Remarks:

In the first stated reason “to run to gain power in the barangay”, majority of the respondents cannot decide, since their decision depends on a “situation”.

The situation(s) in each statement is unknown, and only the respondent knows his condition, depending on the situation whether he/she will finally agree or disagree, depending on the “situation” he is considering in his mind.

For this reason, the responses together cannot be perceived to lie in a continuum of decreasing magnitude from SD to SA.

When do we calculate the mean of several responses in a SD, D, Neither, A, and SA by assigning scores 1 to 5 respectively? Suppose we want to measure degree of “punctuality” of an individual using his perceived ratings on 5 statements on punctuality. All the 5 statements describe performance of an individual who is punctual. His average perceived rating on these statements will be a measure of his perceived degree of punctuality.

Page 4: Statistical analysis on my thesis

The situation in your paper is different from the example given. Your stated reasons above however did classify the respondents as to what group they belong: SD and D, will decide depending on the situation, and A and SA groups.

I suggest that you focus on the majority’s responses in each statement.
