Name of Artifact: Project 3: Language Newsletter

Course: EDUC 121: Child and Adolescent Development
Brief Description: This artifact is a Language newsletter that would be sent home with my students. It encourages parents to be involved in their child’s language acquisition.
Rationale: To document my understanding of InTASC Standard 8, Instructional Strategies, I have created a monthly “Language Newsletter” to send home to parents.

This Month’s Topic: Speech Practice at HomeThere are many fun and interesting ways our students can practice their speech at home. The more they practice their newly learned sounds, the stronger their language will
Try these creative and unique ways to practice at home with your child:
Post words that contain your child’s speech sound on their mirror either in the bedroom or bathroom. Ask them to say these words several times a day.
When driving, ask your child to try and find words containing their sound while looking out the window. Ex: I see the road for the /r/ sound or I see the stop sign for the /s/ sound.
Place a list of words containing sounds on the refrigerator and every time he opens the refrigerator he must say a word with his sound correctly.
At night after dinner play a board game. Every time he moves his pawn he must say a sentence using his corrected sound.
