PURPOSE OF WEBINAR

Develop and promote collaboration and partnerships between ILCs, government, and community organizations serving individuals with TBI.

Provide ILC and other community organization staff information about DOR’s activities, initiatives and resources directed toward coordinating, improving and increasing TBI services statewide.

DOR MISSION

“The California Department of Rehabilitation works in partnership with consumers and other stakeholders to provide services and advocacy resulting in employment, independent living and equality for individuals with disabilities.”

Independent Living Philosophy

“NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US”

“Consumer Control” - Consumers have the right to fully participate in decisions that affect their daily lives.

Each person is unique and has the same civil rights as others.

IL Philosophy (continued)

People with disabilities should be able to live, work, shop and play where they choose within the community.

Disability is a natural part of the human experience.

Fix the environment and not the person.

Californians with a brain injury live in their community of choice and contribute to society.Available resources empower individuals with a brain injury to be participating citizens. The inclusion of individuals with brain injuries is essential in our social and economic success.
