Statement of Scope for the Annotated Bibliography
Choosing the right career or rather future can be tough when parents are being critical with everydecision made. For instance if one wants to be in army rather than being a businessman, his/her
parents should be supportive of the career rather than criticizing it. Sometimes, being too critical
about such decisions in life can lead to a disastrous relationships among the family. So why does
one earn the support of their family after success and not before? Why do parents criticizecareers? The answer to all vary, depending on how healthy ones relationship is with his/her
parents. Therefore, Because choosing the right career is one of the most difficult decisions a
person can make, parents should be less critical and more supportive of the decision made.
This essay will explore ways parents can improve their relationship with teens who are
transforming into adults and tips on how can one be supportive when the career chosen by theteen might not be the one that the parent wants. I will inform how criticism can affect one in a
positive and a negative way. Furthermore, I will discuss how one can decide which is the best
career for them. In addition, to deciding the right career I will also discuss why parents are oftenunsupportive of the career one chooses, but later become supportive when the career is
successful. I will provide examples that effectively show the progress of parents being more
open minded about teens choosing their career over the years.
This selected bibliography includes sources that address the effect of criticism as well as
choosing the wrong career. While I have an essay that discusses the transformation fromadolescence to young adulthood by Freek Bucx, I also have an essay that informs about various
ways that criticism plays a crucial role in the construction of the eighteenth century literary
culture by Michael Gavin. One of the most important source of this essay is an article byMarjorie Ellis which states that there is often a certain amount of fear that goes along with
making decisions about one's future. Furthermore, the Jennifer Marshall essay discusses how the
M.S Foundation believes that more educational and vocational opportunities certainly offer manybenefits to women. In addition to benefits for women provided by the M.S Foundation, Sara
McLanahans article concludes that children who were born to the most-educated women are
gaining resources, in terms of parents ' time and money, those who were born to the last-
educated women are losing resources.
