Why Health Professions in High School?

According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 3 milllion RN’s will be employed by 2016 yet only 200,000 nurses are passing board tests each year.

According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, almost every state will have a shortage of primary care physicians by 2020.

Future dual enrollment options in the program can have a direct impact on college success.

1st Year Findings

State High has many students interested in pursuing professional health careers

Surveys at the beginning of the year indicate that while students are interested in being health care professionals, very few students have had any shadowing experience in their field of interest because of difficulty finding opportunities.
