Rogers Business Phone – a building block of a successful business.

Calling Features

Calling Features

02 03

Call HuntingSay goodbye to busy signals with this handy feature. When your pilot line is in use, incoming calls route to the next available line in your hunt group, reducing the chance of a caller getting a busy signal. You can even set the hunt group sequence, specifying the order of lines to reroute calls.

Distinctive RingHow can you tell if the incoming call is for you, for your partner or if it’s a fax? Answer: by adding the distinctive ring calling feature. Add up to two additional rings to your main phone ring by adding virtual phone numbers, each with its own ringtone.

Distinctive ring doesn’t allow simultaneous incoming or outgoing calls; it’s still one physical line.

Simultaneous RingYou’re on the line when an important call comes through. Rather than routing to voicemail or to a busy signal, simultaneous ring allows the call to ring on (up to) four phone lines in your office. That way, someone is sure to answer it right away.

This phone feature can be managed online (see Business Online Manager, p.6), via your office phone (dial *53) or through a Remote Access Number with PIN code.

While voicemail and call waiting are well-known features, Rogers Business Phone offers much more.

Call ForwardingStay connected with your business phone – wherever you are – with call forwarding. Set calls to be forwarded to your mobile phone or another land line.

ACtivAte CALL FoRwARdinG

1 Dial *72.

2 Dial the 10-digit phone number you’d like your calls forwarded to.

3 If someone answers your call, remain on the line for five seconds or longer till call forwarding is activated.

4 Confirm activation by redialling *72. If you hear a busy signal, it’s working.

deACtivAte CALL FoRwARdinG

1 Dial *73.

2 Listen for two beeps, then hang up.

Rather than forwarding all calls to one number, enhanced call forwarding allows you to forward calls to several numbers based on answer type.

Busy CALLs Forward calls to another number when the line is busy:

1 Dial *90 and listen for the confirmation tone.

2 Enter 10-digit forward-to number.

3 If someone answers after you dial, remain on the line for at least five seconds.

4 If the line is busy or there’s no answer, redial *90, then redial the 10-digit forward-to number. When you hear two beeps, you’re set up.

To deactivate: dial *91, wait for the confirmation tone, then hang up.

no AnsweR CALLs When there’s no one to answer a call, forward it to another number.

1 Dial *92 and listen for the confirmation tone.

2 Enter 10-digit forward-to number.

3 Follow Steps 3 and 4 outlined at left.

To deactivate: dial *93, wait for the confirmation tone, then hang up.

Enhanced Call Forwarding

Long DistanceHaving a reliable, inexpensive and customizable long-distance plan is key to all businesses. For example, if you’re calling a certain country often, you could tailor your plan to match. For detailed information on Rogers Long Distance plans for small-business owners, visit rogers.com/business

Business Phone also includes basic, essential services such as Emergency 911, service for hearing or speech impaired, unlimited local calling and access to extended local calling (in some areas, GTA includes Barrie).

Call hunting subscribers can’t order call forwarding on phone lines in the hunt group, as this hampers the hunting sequence. voicemail can only be ordered on the pilot line.

tip

Manage calling features online, any time you want, with Business online Manager (see p.6).

tip

Remote call forwarding allows you to activate this feature from any phone.

tip

LookinG FoR MoRe FeAtuRes?Business Phone customers can add more features including Call Trace, Call Screen, Call Display – as well as Call Display Blocking. Here are some other features:

CALL wAitinG: Lets you know when someone’s trying to ring through; answer it, or let it go to voicemail.

thRee-wAy CALLinG: Nothing says “business” like a conference call. Easily set up three-way calls with this feature.

CALL tRAnsFeR: Send calls to another line with the press of a button.

Work from Home? While the calling features detailed in this guide are for companies situated in commercial spaces, home-based businesses can still subscribe to many calling features specifically tailored for the business user.

Besides being eligible for all Rogers Home Phone calling features, residental businesses can add up to four lines, make use of the Directory Listing and sign on to Business Online Manager (see p.6).

private Branch exchange Fraud is a global concern for all businesses. essentially a computer system used to route calls to internal phones and outgoing lines, pBx fraud occurs when an unauthorized third party gains access to a phone system, likely using it to place costly long-distance calls – using your company’s equipment remotely, at your expense. here’s how Rogers Business phone customers can avoid pBx fraud:

Change your default voicemail password as soon as possible.

Choose a secret password at least six digits in length, and frequently change it (say, every other month).

Make sure your password(s) are unique and not easily guessable (e.g., not 1-2-3-4-5-6 or the last six digits of your phone number).

how to use piCtuRe-in-piCtuReYour television doesn’t need to have picture-in-picture functionality if you’d like to watch any two TV shows at once. With Rogers Business TV, you can set one show full-screen and another in a smaller window. Here`s how:

1 Be sure you’re watching a show with no other menu screens open (such as the Interactive Program Guide). Press Exit on the Rogers remote to return to full-screen viewing.

2 Press the On/Off button on the Rogers remote to activate Picture-in-Picture. The last channel you were on will appear in a corner of the main screen. Change channels on the smaller window by pressing the + and – buttons on the remote. (Note: You will only hear audio for the channel on the main screen.)

3 Press the Swap button on the Rogers remote to swap the channels (switch the video in the small window to the main screen). You can also move the smaller window to a different corner of the main screen by pressing the Move button.

4 To deactivate Picture-in-Picture, press the On/Off button again and the smaller window will disappear.

you can record a show you’re currently watching at any time by pressing the ReC button.
