Zebras belong to the horse family. Each zebra has its own unique pattern of black and white stripes. The stripe pattern can be a form of camouflage and confuses predators. Zebras have excellent sight and hearing. They stand up while sleeping. They eat mostly grass. Zebras run from side to side when being chased by a predator. They can run up to 35 miles per hour. Zebras live in the wild in Africa or in zoos. They stay together in groups called herds.
