TILT DOWN across a vast sea of stars to find a sparse, barren asteroid belt. DISTANT FLASHES OF LIGHT and MUFFLED BOOMS -- A space battle...?

And then -- BOOM -- a lone starship EXITS hyperspace, a rusty LIGHT FREIGHTER. Real piece of junk. The "HOWLING DEMON".

INT. HOWLING DEMON - COCKPIT

A METAL FINGER FLIPS a switch. A HUMANOID DROID in the pilot's seat in front of a large viewing window. This is MR-V1 (MISTER SIX): TALL and VERSATILE, Onyx and ruby color.

Mister Six routinely flips a few more switches, notices something on his console, stops, then looks outside the cockpit window and stares...

MISTER SIXUh oh.

We hear someone SNORING LOUDLY next to him. Six turns towards his co-pilot. KICKS the other chair --

A BRAWNY, FOUR-ARMED BESALSISK JOLTS AWAKE. This is ZAZIK.

ZAZIKAagh, what!?

MISTER SIXThere's a problem.

Zazik looks around, surprised.

ZAZIKWe're already here?

MISTER SIXYes.

ZAZIKWhere's the client?

MISTER SIXThere!

Six jams a finger at the window. Zazik blinks through the grogginess to see: A CARGO FRIGATE SMOLDERS in the distance, FLASHES OF DOGFIGHTING FIRE all around:

The ship is under attack.

Cannons and a few escort ships meagerly defend the frigate against six or seven fighters (specks of light this far out).

ZAZIKOh, kriff...

MISTER SIXYes.

ZAZIKThat's our client!?

MISTER SIXYes!

Zazik lurches out of the seat and SPRINTS away --

INT. HOWLING DEMON - CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS

Zazik hurries down a messy corridor in disrepair. STEAM suddenly spews from a pipe in the wall --

ZAZIKBlast it -- Captain!? Hey! Captain!

He wafts it away and keeps moving and we --

INT. HOWLING DEMON - BUNKROOM

A HUMAN HAND delicately holds a GLOWING MARBLE, lowering it onto a carefully crafted PYRAMID of GLOWING MARBLES. The color and pulse of their glow oscillates in fluid harmony --

And now we see: a young, bright-eyed woman is giving this her utmost concentration. AXEL (20s), captain of the Demon. Bold. Eager. A warm, optimistic face hidden behind layers of grime.

She's in the bunkroom beneath the rest of the ship. Three pairs of bunkbeds, enough for six people. Only two beds look used. The others are bare. It's peaceful down here. Calm.

Axel carefully retracts her arm, a smile forming across her face. The pyramid FLASHES in unison. Axel beams. And then --

BANG -- Zazel LANDS HARD just outside the door, bypassing the perfectly good ladder -- Axel YELLS and involuntarily SMACKS dozens of marbles across the floor with her arm --

AXELHEY! Zaz, how many times do I have to tell you!? Use the ladder!

ZAZIKThere's a problem.

Beat. Axel frowns.


Axel and Zazik stand behind Six, looking unsure. All three of them stare out the cockpit window. The frigate, still under attack, suffers an EXPLOSION. Axel let's out a WHISTLE.

AXELWhat did they hit?

Six is already checking the console.

MISTER SIXLooks like the engines. They're trying to cut off its escape. They want it intact, for now.

ZAZIKAnd who's they?

MISTER SIXBased on flight pattern, attack strategy, and star-fighter make: most likely pirates.

Zazik lets out an EXASPERATED SIGH. It's always pirates.

AXELHang on. No need to despair just yet. Six? How many of them? Think we could take 'em?

ZAZIKIs it worth it?

MISTER SIX(calculating:)

I'd say we have about a 68% chance of holding our own out there.

AXELThose aren't bad odds, right?

Axel flashes Zazik a hopeful smile. Zazik shrugs. Just then, there's another BEEP:

MISTER SIXOh, hold on.

A PIRATE FREIGHTER BLIPS out of hyperspace, next to the smoldering cargo ship. Axel's face falls.

MISTER SIX (CONT’D)Make that 57%.

A SECOND PIRATE FREIGHTER arrives. And a THIRD.

MISTER SIX (CONT’D)You know what, nevermind.

ZAZIKAnother job ruined by pirates! We gotta call this one, Captain. This was supposed to be a simple pickup. We're in no shape for this.

Axel stares out the window. Her optimism draining fast...

AXELWe really needed the money...

They all gaze out the window, their golden opportunity disappearing before their very eyes... Then --

The console BEEPS TWICE.

ZAZIKDon't tell me there are more.

5.

MISTER SIXNo. We're being hailed...

(beat, checks:)It's the client's signature.

Six and Zaz look at Axel. Axel looks between them both, surprised. Then moves towards the panel. She FLIPS a switch:

AXEL(stiff)

This is... Captain Axel speaking.

There's STATIC at first.

MALE VOICE (COMMS)Captain... Our ride is under attack. We need extraction.

AXELI hear you. Are you alright?

Zaz shoots Axel a 'come on' look. Axel scowls back at him.

MALE VOICE (COMMS)For now. But I think they plan on boarding. We need help. Fast.

AXELOkay. You still have your cargo?

MALE VOICE (COMMS)Yes. And the job still stands. You help us get it to safety, you'll get your reward.

MISTER SIXThey're boarding.

The three look up to see one of the pirate freighters moving in to dock with the frigate. Axel grimaces. Glances at Zaz. Zaz shakes his head: "no". Axel is quiet for a moment...

MALE VOICE (COMMS)Please, Captain. You have my word.

Long beat. Axel makes her decision.

AXELOkay. Okay, we'll come get you.

Zaz shakes his head in disbelief. Six is already prepping the controls to fly in. But Axel's not done --

AXEL (CONT’D)But you're going to pay us double.

Six and Zaz, freeze, surprised. There is a long agonizing pause... Unsure, Axel continues:

AXEL (CONT’D)I think -- uh -- I think it's only fair. This is a lot of heat for what was supposed to be a simple cargo drop. Double is more than --

MALE VOICE (COMMS)Okay.

Beat. Zaz and Axel are wide-eyed.

AXELWha -- Okay?

MALE VOICE (COMMS)Yes. I can get you double.

Axel flashes Zaz a look of amazement. Zaz is impressed.

AXELExcellent!

MALE VOICE (COMMS)So, you'll come get us?

AXELWe will.

(quick thinking:)Right after you pay us half the amount up front.

Silence. Zaz gawks. 'Is she insane?'

MALE VOICE (COMMS)I'm sorry... You... You want me to pay you half? Right now?

AXELYes.

MALE VOICE (COMMS)Half of double would be what the entire original payment was.

AXELUh, correct. I have to know you're serious before I risk my neck on this cargo... whatever it is.

Another long beat. Axel nods at Six.

AXEL (CONT’D)Send them the routing number.

Six taps away at the console. Zaz is absolutely stunned, but Axel holds up a hand in a "I got this" gesture.

AXEL (CONT’D)(into comms)

Send us half and we'll help you.

ZAZIKCaptain, they're not going to do that. They'll just think we'll take the money and run.

AXEL(muffling comms)

But they're desperate!

ZAZIKOh, who isn't?

AXELExactly! We need the money!

Axel gives Zaz a meaningful look. Zaz doesn't like it. But he nods. They wait... Outside, the second freighter starts docking. The battle is still going on in the distance...

MISTER SIXThe other one's boarding.

AXELHow many per ship?

MISTER SIXMaybe a dozen each.

AXELOkay. So, what, a little over thirty guys? We could take that on.

ZAZIKNo, we can't.

AXELWe can if we're smart.

ZAZIKWe're not.

AXEL(to comms:)

Look, sir... We look forward to doing business with you but right now it seems you're running out of time so either take the deal or --

ANOTHER BEEP. The comm is dead. There is another EXPLOSION on the frigate in the distance...

AXEL (CONT’D)Did they hang up on me?

MISTER SIXNo. Pirates took out long range comms. They must have been calling from a ship terminal. But they could probably still make the transfer if they wanted to.

ZAZIKIt's a big if.

Axel frowns, anxious... They wait... Finally --

ZAZIK (CONT’D)I'm calling it, Axel. They're not going to take the deal.

Axel stares out the window. Conflicted... Still, we wait...

ZAZIK (CONT’D)...Axel?

Axel is crestfallen. She opens her mouth to speak when --

MISTER SIXWait!

A string of numbers appear on their data-readout. They stare.

ZAZIKNo way...

MISTER SIXThey transferred... half of the original payment. So, if we did the job for double, they would still owe us three times this amount when we're done.

Zaz is in disbelief. Axel beams at him

ZAZIKI've never seen that much money in our accounts before...

(beat)So, what now? Do we leave?

Axel is surprised. Six looks back at them both.

AXELWhat?

ZAZIKWe got money. And you know we can't repel an entire invasion party.

AXELWe don't need to repel them. We just need to get in, find the target, get the cargo and get out.

ZAZIKYou always make it sound so easy. And no, that's not a compliment!

AXELZaz. That's not how we do business.

Zaz stares. But inside, he knows it's true. He SIGHS.

ZAZIKI know.

Axel looks at Six.

MISTER SIXIt's your call, Captain.

Axel turns back at Zaz. And they can both feel it. A point of no return...

AXELTake us in.

Six is already on it.

ZAZIKThey better come through with the money. I want enough to coat the entire ship in platinum!

Axel puts a hand on his shoulder.

AXELI promise, Zaz, I will make sure --

ZAZIKNo, stop. I don't need promises...

(beat)I just need the money.

AXELAnd I'll make sure you get it.

Zaz looks grumpy. Axel gives him a knowing smile.

AXEL (CONT’D)You mad at me?

(gets silent treatment)Well, take it out on the pirates.

ZAZIKOh, I will!

(marches off)I'll grab weapons!

Axel eagerly turns and takes the co-pilot's seat. Excited.

EXT. SPACE AROUND CARGO FRIGATE

A DAZZLING EXPLOSION erupts in front of us -- a fighter blown up by one of the Frigate's laser-canons. We're in the battle, now: A DOGFIGHT swarms around the frigate as the cargo vessel's escort fighters attempt to defend against the attack. But the pirates outnumber them -- taking out all defenses blow by blow.

Two of the larger pirate ships have docked. We CLOSE IN on the third, hanging back at a safe distance.

INT. ZEN'S PIRATE FREIGHTER - COCKPIT

A SILHOUETTE lounges in the captain's chair of a busy, crowded cockpit. They reach an aquamarine AMPHIBIAN HAND down to pick up a bottle of some bubbling liquid. When they raise the glass to sip, we see:

ZEN YAZA. The NAUTOLAN Pirate Captain. Cocky smile and a taste for theatrics.

Another fighter EXPLODES just outside their window. The ship RUMBLES from the blast. Otherwise, the crew is unfazed.

It's just another day in the life of a pirate.

ZEN YAZA(mock sympathy)

Oh, dear. Who'd we lose?

PIRATE #1 (O.S.)Fang Three. Bamillo.

ZEN YAZADidn't he owe someone money? Well, you're not getting it, now...

Zen glances back at his crew, who ripple with LOW LAUGHTER. He smiles, amused with himself and looks back at the battle.

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)These are impressive canons. But ironically, they just make me all the more curious to know what's so valuable inside.

An ALIEN LACKEY is checking a console.

PIRATE #2Scans suggest lighter cargo. Maybe rations. Arms. Military equipment.

ZEN YAZAAh. The Republic warfront is a hungry beast, isn't she? Things must not be going all that well if they have to sneak their shipments through the wilds like this, eh?

Again, the crew shares a LAUGH. Zen grins. In his element.

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)Send a signal out to the nearest Mandalorian fleet. Inform them we've captured a cargo ship with enemy supplies and that we'd be happy to split the plunder.

The crew ripples with excitement.

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)But I'm calling it right now, I want one of those canons.

Another PIRATE is frowning at her console. Zen spots them.

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)Problem, lieutenant?

PIRATE LIEUTENANTSir... I think there's another ship in the sector.

The crew hushes. For the first time, Zen looks alert.

12.

ZEN YAZAHow big? Is it Republic?

Pirate Lieutenant shakes her head, perplexed.

PIRATE LIEUTENANTNo, it's a scrap piece. But...

(beat, eyes widening:)They're moving in to board!


Amidst the DOGFIGHT and LASER-CANNON FIRE, we find the Howling Demon stylishly SWOOP and SWERVE through the battle, making a beeline for the cargo frigate.


The crew rumbles in surprise. Zen stands -- moves closer to the window, his eyes scanning the battlefield.

ZEN YAZAWhere?

PIRATE LIEUTENANTNo one can get a good lock on them, they have some kind of scrambler.


The cockpit SHUDDERS as the ship passes a LASER BLAST.

AXELScrambler still works, right?

MISTER SIXI fixed it.

AXELIt was damaged?

MISTER SIXIt still is. But it's working partially, now. We'll be fine as long as no one gets a visual --


The Demon ZOOMS past a Pirate Fighter which suddenly SWERVES and follows in quick pursuit --

PIRATE LIEUTENANTSomeone picked up a visual! They're on their tail, now.

Zen scans the battle outside -- clocks a fighter breaking formation to chase down a dull-gray blur.


MISTER SIXUh oh.

Axel sees it on the console, too, grimaces and bolts off from the seat, running out of the cockpit --

INT. HOWLING DEMON - CORRIDOR

Zazik walks out of an ARMORY CLOSET, locked and loaded, blasters in all four arms. He sees Axel running. Holds out two of the blasters for her.

ZAZIKHey, you want any grenades?

AXEL(sprinting by)

Have to get to gunnery!

ZAZIKWhat!? I thought we were scrambling our signal or whatever?

(Axel's almost gone)DO YOU WANT GRENADES!?

AXELYes! Always!

As Axel disappears around a corner, the ship suddenly SHUDDERS from an attack. Zazik stumbles, catches himself.

INT. HOWLING DEMON - GUNNER POSITION

Axel hops into the gunner's seat, FLIPS a switch, and --

A ROUND BLAST DOOR retracts around the bubble she's in, revealing a wide view of space. And there: the Fighter, hot on their tail, FIRING mercilessly at them.

14.

Axel SWIVELS up and begins FIRING back. But as soon as she starts firing, the cannon suddenly STOPS, SEIZES UP --

AXELWhat the --

A PLUME OF STEAM ejects into Axel's face -- she YELLS, COUGHS, stumbles out of the chair --

AXEL (CONT’D)AGH! C'MON!


The Demon PLUNGES towards the frigate. The fighter still hot in pursuit. Another pirate fighter joins the chase, as well.


Axel gets up off the floor, aggravated. Mister Six's VOICE comes through the ship-wide intercom:

MISTER SIX (INTERCOM)We've got more on our tail.

AXELSomething's wrong with the gunnery bay -- drop them a gift basket!


Mister Six reaches for another terminal. PULLS a lever.

MISTER SIXDropping a gift basket.


A panel OPENS on the Demon's Aft hull -- THREE CLUSTERS of BLINKING OBJECTS crudely tied together TUMBLE out into space:

BOOM-BOOM-BOOM! Like mines, the 'gift-baskets' EXPLODE as soon as they reach the fighters on their tail -- one fighter is engulfed in flames instantly, but another manages to SWERVE around the blasts, smoking but still on them.


The crew MURMURS. The Captain is genuinely impressed.

15.

ZEN YAZACrafty...

PIRATE LIEUTENANTWe have more fighters closing in.

Zen watches the growing number of fighters chasing the Demon as it approaches the frigate. A thought forms in his mind.

ZEN YAZAWait... Call them off.

Hesitant beat. The crew glances at Zen. But now, he's smiling. For the first time in a while, he's fascinated...

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)Take us in for boarding, as well.


The gaggle of fighters now chasing the Demon abruptly stop firing and break away from their pursuit.


Axel wrenches open a panel in the turret which SPARKS -- Axel YELLS, stumbles backwards, wafting away the smoke.

AXELUseless piece of --

MISTER SIX (INTERCOM)Captain, they've stopped pursuing.

Axel stands up, confused. Glances out the round window just in time to see the two fighters flying away. She frowns.

MISTER SIX (INTERCOM) (CONT’D)We're docking now.

Zazik suddenly pokes his head in. Winces at the smoke.

ZAZIKDocking now. What happened here?

AXELI don't want to talk about it.

Axel leaves, walking by Zazik, snatching two blaster pistols from two of his hands. Zazik HUFFS, straightens A LARGE BACKPACK strapped tightly in a crisscross pattern around his chest, between all four arms. Zaz follows Axel...

16.

EXT. CARGO FRIGATE - SPACE

The Demon swiftly SWOOPS in and LEVELS itself atop a closed door in the frigate's hull.

INT. HOWLING DEMON - DOCKING HATCH

Axel and Zazik are armed and ready, both kneeling in front of a LARGE, SEALED HATCH in the floor. The Demon CREAKS ominously around them as it initiates docking.

MISTER SIX (INTERCOM)Ten seconds.

AXELHey Six? You're a sitting mynock if you stick around here for too long. Drop us off and keep flying around. Don't let them get a lock.

MISTER SIX (INTERCOM)Understood. Five seconds.

ZAZIKThere's already a force on board.

AXELYeah.

The hatch at their feet HISSES as docking is finalized.

ZAZIKThink any are waiting down there?

AXELMaybe?

The hatch suddenly SWINGS open -- a ROUND, BLINKING OBJECT abruptly pops up through the opening into the Demon --

ZAZIKGRENADE!

With an unarmed hand, Zazik expertly CATCHES the grenade before it can even land -- THROWS it straight back through the hatch from which it was tossed --

BOOM! Axel and Zazik shield their faces as it EXPLODES just out sight -- SEVERAL DEATH-CRIES from down below. Zaz smirks.

ZAZIK (CONT’D)Ladies first.

17.

AXELYou shut your mouth.

And, guns ready, Axel drops through the hatch and --

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS

-- LANDS in a wide, brightly lit corridor filled with smoke.

She crouches, alertly scanning her surroundings -- two pirates lie dead nearby. She clocks a PIRATE hiding around a corner -- she SHOOTS one of her blasters -- he CRUMPLES.

Another PIRATE rushes her from behind, VIBROSTAFF raised, but before he can strike -- he is suddenly YANKED backwards by --

Zazik is there. With three powerful hands, he RAGDOLL-TOSSES the pirate at the WALL and SHOOTS the body with both blasters for good measure.

Beat. The smoke clears. There's no one else here...

AXELGood so far.

ZAZIKYeah, yeah...

AXEL(to comms)

We're in, Six. Stay close.


Zen Yaza watches as his freighter closes into the cargo frigate. The battle outside is waning. The pirates have won.

Zen spots the Whispering Demon pulling away from the frigate before it maneuvers behind DRIFTING DEBRIS and vanishes.

Zen smiles.

ZAZIK (V.O.)So, question.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CORRIDOR

Axel and Zazik move briskly down an empty hallway, triggers at the ready. BLASTER-FIRE echoes from another corridor...

18.

ZAZIK (CONT'D)How are we finding the client?

AXELWe're here to pick up cargo. Let's find a cargo bay.

ZAZIKThis is a big cargo ship, Captain.

Axel nearly rounds a corner -- immediately JUMPS BACK -- Zazik freezes. Axel is peering around the corner, gestures for Zazik to do the same. He leans around and sees:

FOUR PIRATES are down the corridor, FIRING at SECURITY DROIDS for the frigate. No one has noticed Axel or Zaz. Yet.

ZAZIK (CONT’D)Want me to use Big Bantha?

AXELWe don't have to take them out.

ZAZIKNot unless we need to go that way. We don't know where the client is or their cargo. We don't even know how big the cargo is!

AXELThe cargo?

(Zaz nods, Axel recalls:)I'm pretty sure they said it was only one box... Yeah. One box.

ZAZIKOne box can still be heavy.

Axel can't disagree. She glances around the corner, then gestures for Zaz to follow. They move away from the SHOOTOUT.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CARGO BAY 9

A large warehouse-sized chamber, stacked with a maze of crates and cargo containers. And entering in one corner...

We FIND Axel and Zaz sneakily taking cover behind a row of boxes. Several PIRATES are in this room, examining the cargo, DISCUSSING LOUDLY IN ALIEN TONGUE what they're finding.

ZAZIKAny one of these boxes could be what we're looking for.

19.

AXELWell, then where's the client?

ZAZIKCould've been him.

A dead cargo worker lies nearby. Just then --

A DOOR OPENS and BLASTER FIRE sounds off nearby -- Axel and Zaz instinctively duck. A security droid has entered, attacking the pirates, but it is almost instantly SHOT DOWN.

An uneasy calm returns. Zazik looks around.

ZAZIK (CONT’D)This is Cargo Bay Nine of twelve! We're never going to find the client in this mess.

CLINK -- something small drops right behind them. Axel and Zaz freeze and look over... There's nothing. Then --

CLINK, CLINK -- something small hits the crates they're hiding behind. Zaz looks around, confused. But Axel spots it: A SMALL CREDIT COIN has landed on the crate in front of them. Axel looks up, trying to identify where it came from just as -- ANOTHER CREDIT hits Zaz on the head.

ZAZIK (CONT’D)Ow!

The Pirates look around, alert. Zaz freezes, too.

ZAZIK (CONT’D)(quiet)

Someone is throwing money at us.

Axel scans the room... Then she spots it. She points:

A FIGURE is hiding on an upper landing. The figure gestures for them to come up. Zaz clocks a ladder nearby.

But two of the pirates are coming around to check out the noise. Axel motions for Zaz to follow -- Zaz nods, reaches out to GRAB the coins the figure threw and pockets them.

They stealthily move their way towards the ladder, using the cargo as cover between them and the pirates, now on alert.

They reach a large container, the ladder just on the other side of an open aisle. But one of the pirates has just turned into the aisle, doing a sweep. Axel falters. Glances up at the figure overhead. She seems to make some gesture --

SOMETHING CRASHES elsewhere in the room. Someone YELLS. The Pirate perks up, turns around and rushes away, CALLING to his allies. Axel frowns, but doesn't waste her opportunity -- she darts for the ladder and climbs, Zaz at her heel.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CARGO BAY RAFTERS

Axel climbs up onto the rafters to see the figure is a WOMAN, her face covered by a scarf. Only her eyes are visible...

AXELAre you the client?

She nods. Zazik climbs up, as well.

AXEL (CONT’D)Where's the cargo?

She motions for them to follow her. They exchange glances. She hurries off. They follow.


A door SLIDES OPEN -- Zen Yaza enters, flanked by an entourage of pirates armed to the teeth.

A security droid rounds a corner, takes aim -- Zen's pistol is already up -- FIRES once, the droid FALLS.

Another PIRATE pushes forward the injured cargo frigate's SUPERVISOR. Zen approaches him.

PIRATE #1The supervisor, Captain. He confirmed this frigate is making shipments to and from the warfront on behalf of the Republic.

CARGO FRIGATE SUPERVISOR(furious)

Sir, this is an official ambassador vessel of the Trader's Guild --

Zen BLASTS the Supervisor in the chest -- he CRUMPLES.

ZEN YAZAWe don't need any prisoners. But where are our adventurous looters?

PIRATE #1We're not sure. They took out Hotchkie's squad.

21.

Beat. Zen doesn't bat an eye. He glances off to the side.

ZEN YAZAWhat happened there?

We see a LARGE CRATE has inexplicably crashed to the ground, as if it fell from high atop a shipping container:

An oozing heap of SLIMY, DEAD BLUE-SCALED FISH have poured out of it across the floor. One of the pirates is knee deep in it -- the others are awkwardly trying to help him out.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - MAINTENANCE CORRIDOR

The unknown woman leads Axel and Zaz down a narrow back-of-house maintenance corridor. Zaz is particularly cramped.

AXEL(to comms:)

Six? Standby with the Demon. We've found the client, going for the package now.

The woman reaches a door. Opens it and steps through into:

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - MAINTENANCE OFFICE

They all exit the door into an octagonal room filled with blinking terminals. Zazik grabs Axel's shoulder, wary.

ZAZIKHey, I thought the client we spoke to was a man?

MALE VOICE (O.S.)It was.

They turn. We see a pair of boots, toes up, are visible just on the other side of a terminal. Someone is sitting on the floor just behind it. The woman rushes over. Axel and Zaz approach uncertainly... And as they round the corner, we see:

A DUROS MAN on the floor, clutching at his side. He is badly injured. But he gives a smirk at the sight of them.

DUROS MANAppreciate you coming, Captain.

(Axel grimaces)Oh, you should see the other guy.

AXEL(to Zaz:)

You got a medpack?

Zaz nods and walks over, bends down.

DUROS MANIt's fine, we don't have time.

UNKNOWN WOMANMAKO. Don't be a fool.

Everyone looks at woman as she speaks for the first time. The Duro (MAKO) hesitates, then nods. Zaz quickly works to treat the wound. Axel glances between Mako and the woman.

AXELUh, Mako? It's good to finally meet you. I'm Axel. Captain of the --

MAKOI know. Let's exchange pleasantries when we're aboard your ship.

UNKNOWN WOMANWhere is your ship?

AXELIt's coming. Where's your cargo?

Mako pats a satchel draped at his side.

MAKOIt's safe.

Axel eyes the satchel, curiously. But now's not the time.

AXEL(to comms:)

Six? Where am I meeting you?

INT. HOWLING DEMON - COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

Six checks a terminal -- it shows a schematic of the frigate.

MISTER SIXThe hangar bay would have shut down before the vessel was boarded. You can reopen it manually from inside.

AXEL (COMMS)Got it.

Another BLINKING TERMINAL catches Six's attention.

MISTER SIXOh no.

AXEL (COMMS)Buddy, I hate it when you say that.

MISTER SIXIt seems the pirates have been broadcasting this location to an outside system.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - MAINTENANCE OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

Zaz gingerly helps Mako to his feet.

MISTER SIX (COMMS)(CONT'D)It's possible they may be calling for reinforcements.

AXELRight. Then we gotta move.

MISTER SIX (COMMS)The hangar bay is on the North concourse. Deck seven. See you soon unless you die.

The comms cut out. Axel rolls her eyes. Turns. Mako is up. But he needs to lean on Zaz's weight.

AXELYou good?

Mako makes eye contact with the woman. Something unspoken passes between them. She turns to Axel, defiant.

UNKNOWN WOMANHe'll be fine. We're not leaving him behind.

AXELI didn't say we were.

(to Mako)Sorry, who is she?

MAKOShe's with me.

Axel SIGHS. Spins one of her guns around her finger.

AXELFair enough. Ship's going to meet us at the hangar bay. We can open it from there.

UNKNOWN WOMANI'll lead the way.

AXELWith all due respect, we have the guns. Maybe you should take care of your guy and we'll lead the way.

The woman glares. But she does not argue. Zaz trades Mako to her and approaches Axel.

ZAZIKBig Bantha?

AXELNo, no, we don't want to attract anymore attention if we can.

Axel goes back to the maintenance door and opens it. Then stares at the long, dark hall ahead. She turns back around to face the woman and Mako.

AXEL (CONT’D)Wait. Which way do we go?


Pirate Lieutenant is still at her station, There is a BEEP. A message flashes on one of their terminals. She smiles.

PIRATE LIEUTENANTCaptain? The Mandalorian fleet has responded. They're sending a warship to meet us for the loot.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CARGO BAY 9 - CONTINUOUS

Zen grins and nods to the rest of his team.

ZEN YAZASounds like the Mandalorians have accepted our invitation! We'll be splitting the loot with them as a show of good business so if you see something you like, claim it now.

Pirates start eagerly pocketing everything they can.

Axel and Zaz hurry forward, Mako held up by the unknown woman following closely behind them. Axel points towards a corner. They turn it. Walk down another empty hallway until --

A security droid is BLASTED into the corridor. Axel and the others FREEZE. Two pirates enter the corridor, weapons raised. They turn, see Axel, and --

Axel and Zaz FIRE. A pirate goes DOWN, the other takes cover.


Zen, who is examining an open crate of canteens suddenly gets another call on intercom --

PIRATE #1 (COMMS)I've got them! North Concourse! They're trying to -- WAAGH!

The Pirate on the comm suddenly SHRIEKS and we --

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS

The Pirate continues to SCREAM as he is hoisted up in the air by Zaz. Zaz uses a free hand to WHACK HIM with one of his blasters. The pirate falls limp. Zaz DISCARDS him...

VOICE (O.S.)Over here!

Axel wheels around -- TWO MORE PIRATES charge from behind -- Mako raises his blaster, TAGS them both with one shot each.

AXEL(impressed)

Nice.

MAKOMove!

They bolt.


The pirates are on the move -- Zen races through aisle after aisle, weapon drawn, his crew at his heels. BLASTER FIRE and YELLS are coming in through the comm:

PIRATE #2 (COMMS)I'm hit!

PIRATE #3 (COMMS)Don't let the big one grab you!

PIRATE #4 (COMMS)AAAAGH!

Zen's anger grows. A few SECURITY DROIDS emerge along their path -- Zen SHOOTS one down -- keeps moving -- his crew continue SUPPRESSING FIRE on any more enemies in the way.

ZEN YAZA(to comms:)

How many of them are there?

PIRATE #3 (COMMS)Four!

Zen stops. Livid. A daring dock worker with a pole charges at Zen from out of cover. Zen SHOOTS them down with ease.

ZEN YAZA(to comms:)

I'm sorry. How many did you say?

PIRATE #3 (COMMS)Uh... Four?

ZEN YAZA(seething beat)

Well, do they have cargo with them? What are they trying to steal!?

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CORRIDOR OUTSIDE HANGAR BAY

Axel, Zaz, Mako, and Unknown Woman rush to a large door, pirates FIRING from down the hall. Mako reaches for the door console as Axel pops a shot off and ducks into cover:

AXEL(to comms:)

Six, we made it to the hangar bay.

INT. HOWLING DEMON - COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

MISTER SIXYou will need to manually open the bay doors before I can reach you. Look for an access hatch somewhere in the floor for the override.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - HANGAR BAY - CONTINUOUS

The door OPENS: our team rushes in, Axel and Zaz still firing out the door. As soon as they're all in, Axel blasts the door console on their side -- the door SEALS SHUT behind them.

AXELAccess hatch! Check the floor!

Axel turns around to survey the scene. The hangar bay is large enough to fit eight ships like the Howling Demon, but right now, it's mostly empty. A few fighters in disrepair...

Just then -- ANOTHER DOOR leading into the hangar on the other side SLIDES OPEN: FOUR PIRATES enter and begin FIRING!

Everyone dives for cover: Axel and Zaz behind a damaged fighter, Mako and the unknown woman behind some crates.

They still have eyes on each other. And as Zaz SHOOTS around cover, he spots: a large metal slab slightly raised in the middle of the ground. Out in the open.

ZAZIKUh, is that it!?

Mako follows his gaze as SIX MORE PIRATES arrive on scene.

MAKOUnfortunately, yes!

ZAZIKGreat!

(FIREFIGHT continues)How do we reach it?

AXELHey! Hey! Didn't we bring grenades?

Zaz turns to look at Axel. Then, grins.

The ATTACKING Pirates advance in a wide formation. A total of TWELVE Pirates have now entered the hangar bay. Just then --

Zaz and Axel stand up from cover and VAULT BLINKING GRENADES FROM EACH HAND (six in total) --

ZAZIKStay down!

The grenades scatter across the ground near the pirates who barely have time to FREEZE and look down before --

As Zen and his crew race down the corridor, the sound of LARGE BLAST echoes from somewhere nearby. Zen stops.

ZEN YAZA(to comms:)

Shark One? Come in Shark One.

Only STATIC. Zen looks pissed. He glances at his crew.

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)Did we bring shields?

TWO HEAVYWEIGHT PIRATES emerge from the group. Each ACTIVATES a STAFF that EMITS a SHIMMERING RECTANGULAR BARRIER.

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)Regroup everyone in. Let's be smart about this. Don't underestimate them, whoever they are.

PIRATE #3Do you want prisoners?

ZEN YAZA(beat)

I just want to know what they came here for.

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - HANGAR BAY

Smoldering pirate bodies litter the floor. Zaz KICKS one of them to make sure they're dead. Axel nods, impressed.

AXELWe're doing alright, huh?

(Zaz shrugs)Oh, come on.

ZAZIKClose the door before more get in.

Axel, grinning ear to ear, moves towards the open door as...

Unknown Woman has brought Mako to the raised platform. She reaches to grasp a round hatch, ROTATES IT -- a mechanism HISSES... She then LIFTS IT towards herself --

A MAINTENANCE HATCH in the floor OPENS and LOCKS in place. A shallow switchboard is exposed - a maze of wires and conduits. The woman stares, at a complete loss.

UNKNOWN WOMANMako, what am I looking at?

MAKOI'll talk you through it.

We RETURN to Axel as she approaches the open door. She raises a pistol towards the console and FIRES just as:

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CORRIDOR OUTSIDE HANGAR BAY - CONTINUOUS

Zen Yaza turns a corner at the end of the hallway. Locks eyes with Axel on the other end through the open door --


Axel's eyes widen in fear. She nervously raises an arm and --

INT. CARGO FRIGATE - CORRIDOR OUTSIDE HANGAR BAY - CONTINUOUS

Axel gives an awkward wave at Zen before disappearing behind the door which RAPIDLY SEALS SHUT.


Axel moves away from the sealed door, apprehensively.

ZAZIKWhat?

AXELThink I just met the boss.

ZAZIKCan they get through?

AXELNo, I sealed the door.

BANG! The door Axel just sealed EXPLODES IN A FIERY BLAZE --

TWENTY PIRATES sail through the smoke, THREE SHIELDBEARER HEAVYWEIGHTS taking the lead to create a energy barrier wall in front of their comrades -- Axel and Zaz get into cover -- the unknown woman stays in cover behind the open hatch...

But Mako is caught in the open, standing next to the hatch. He tentatively raises his hands in the air. The unknown woman shoots him a worried look. Mako discreetly shakes his head.

The room falls into an uneasy SILENCE... And then --

ZEN YAZA (O.S.)No need to die just yet. Drop your weapons. Let's chat for a bit.

Beat. Mako tosses his blaster to the ground. Stares down the small army of pirates that have taken formation on the other end of the hangar bay. And Zen Yaza emerges from the smoke.

ZEN YAZA (O.S.) (CONT’D)Nice to know one of you is cooperative... Are you the leader of this little expedition?

Mako makes uncertain eye contact with Axel who grimaces.

AXELNo! That would be me!

Zen looks towards the crates from where the voice came.

ZEN YAZAAh! Well, pleasure to meet you, my friend! I must say, your audacity is rather refreshing.

AXEL(beat)

...Thank you?

ZEN YAZAI've met many scoundrels in my day, but never have I encountered a soul mad enough to barge in on the hard earned looting of a pirate. You're either very bold or very desperate.

AXELBit of both, if I'm being honest. Listen, we had a prior commitment we had to honor. We aren't here to steal from you. We're just here to take care of a simple job.

As Axel calls out from her cover, Mako cautiously looks towards Unknown Woman --

MAKO(discreet)

Blue... wire....

Unknown Woman looks at the console before her. Several wires are different shades of blue.

UNKNOWN WOMANYou're kidding.

ZEN YAZATell me, stranger. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?

Axel peeks out from behind cover.

AXELAxel. Captain of the Howling Demon.

ZEN YAZAI've never heard of you.

AXEL(insulted)

Well, I've never heard of you!

ZEN YAZAOh, Captain, you misunderstand me. I'm delighted to make your acquaintance! From one thief to another, networking opportunities like this are a rare treasure.

Axel abruptly stands completely out of cover --

AXELI am not a thief!

The pirates fix their weapons on her. But nobody fires. Mako uses the distraction to take a step back. Nearby, Unknown Woman is trying to cross two wires together --

MAKO(discreet)

Getting there?

UNKNOWN WOMANDon't push it!

AXELAs I said, we were here to honor a job. This gentleman --

(Mako FREEZES)-- had cargo for us to pick up. We're just trying to earn our keep.

ZEN YAZAAh. And where is this cargo for which they've risked life and limb?

Beat. Everyone looks to Mako.

ZAZIKI'd actually like to see it, too.

Mako frowns. Glances towards Unknown Woman. Then reaches into his satchel -- the pirates ready their weapons.

MAKOEasy, boys...

Slowly, carefully... Mako withdraws a HUMBLE RECTANGULAR BOX. Axel stares at it, then looks at Zaz who appears just as puzzled as she is. Zen echoes what everyone is thinking:

ZEN YAZAThat's it? That's the cargo?

AXELYeah... I guess so.


MISTER SIXCaptain, I'm ready to enter the hangar bay when you get the override on the door working...


MISTER SIX (COMMS)... But the pirate's reinforcements might arrive any moment. I suggest you hurry as much as is convenient.

Axel licks her lips, nervously.

AXELTell you what. We can keep this all very simple. I'll make you a deal.

ZEN YAZADelightful! I was just about to say the exact same thing!

AXELOh, well by all means.

ZEN YAZANo, no. Ladies first.

Axel scowls. Yeah, she hates this guy. Zaz stifles a CHUCKLE.

AXELI have a deal with my client. All we want is the box. You let us leave with that and we won't tell a soul about what happened here.

ZEN YAZAFantastic! Two problems. One, I don't mind the publicity -- in fact, I usually welcome it. And two, if that box was on this ship, I'm afraid it belongs to me.

Mako takes another step back, looks towards the woman as she SPARKS two wires together. Nothing happens. Zen continues:

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)So. Here is my counter proposal. You hand over that box, whatever it is. And I'll rob your client here for you and pay you the reward they already promised.

Mako looks back at Axel, who is grim. Zen continues:

ZEN YAZA (CONT’D)And in return, I would also be happy to extend an invitation for you, your ship, and your crew to join the pirate brotherhood of Captain Zen Yaza.

Dramatic pause. Axel glances at Zaz. Nods something meaningful. Then looks back at Zen, frowning.

AXELI'm sorry, Zen Who?

Zen gives her a coy smile. He sees through her bravado. He nods towards his men -- they begin to ADVANCE. Mako takes another step back, worry quickly growing. He glances at the woman. She SPARKS two wires again -- but nothing happens.

ZEN YAZAAxel... Axel, there really aren't a lot of options here. But I admire your tenacity. It's exactly the kind of gumption I want working for me. Join me and you'll get a fair share of the loot from the rest of this ship. Don't? Well, I already told them I don't need prisoners.

Axel bristles, nervous. Readying herself for what comes next.

AXELRight, well. I see two problems with your plan. Number one: as I said before, we aren't thieves. We don't want any of your stolen loot.

Zaz makes a face to himself: "Depends on the loot".

ZEN YAZAOf course, of course. And two?

AXELRight. Two... Do you know what a Big Bantha is?

Beat. Zen is genuinely confused. And then -- CHAOS ERUPTS:

Axel SPRINTS towards Mako who has no idea what's coming --

JUST AS -- The Unknown Woman SPARKS the wires a third time and the sealed hangar door begins OPENING with a THUD --

JUST AS -- Zaz LEAPS out from behind cover, rotating a dial on the strap of his backpack -- a module SHIFTS in the pack and PHYSICALLY DROPS a HEAVY REPEATING BLASTER ATTACHMENT:

ZAZIKLOOT THIS YA SMOKE RATS!

Zen, eyes wide, has just enough time to LEAP into cover before Zaz UNLEASHES ALL HELL on the pirate lineup with the 'Big Bantha': Pirates FALL left and right -- a few manage to duck into cover -- the Shieldbearers position their barriers to take the full brunt of the attack, but the barriers are already weakening (blue draining to orange) --

As the pirates frantically FIRE BACK, Axel DIVE TACKLES Mako to the ground -- but a stray blaster bolt NICKS Axel in the shoulder as she and Mako disappear behind cover --

ZAZIK (CONT’D)AXEL!

Zaz CUTS FIRE for a moment -- SWITCHES a gear and -- the 'Bantha' RAMPS UP and BURSTS OUT a new volley of RAPID-FIRE!

A Shieldbearer's barrier FIZZLES OUT -- they CRUMPLE under Zaz's fire -- a second Shieldbearer goes down just as --

The Hangar Bay doors continue to OPEN, revealing: THE HOWLING DEMON waiting just behind -- the ship ENTERS the hangar --

Zen clocks it from behind cover.

Axel rolls on the ground, clutching her SIMMERING shoulder -- Mako wincing on the ground beside her -- suddenly, Unknown Woman is there, worriedly checking Mako --

MAKOI'm fine, check her!

Unknown turns to Axel and bends over her --

UNKNOWN WOMANHow bad is it?

AXEL(wincing through pain)

Agh! You tell me!

The woman takes off her veil for a better look -- and now we clearly see her face for the first time: A STRIKINGLY BEAUTIFUL WOMAN (20s) is looking down at Axel, concerned. At the sight of her, Axel FREEZES. All thoughts floating away.

UNKNOWN WOMANIt looks like you'll be fine... That was brave of you.

AXEL(awkward beat)

...Thanks.

To Axel's surprise, Unknown smirks. But just then --

A HIGH-PITCHED WHINE captures their attention -- Mako, Axel, and Unknown look up in time to see: Zaz's blaster is still FIRING. But it's now BELLOWING STEAM --

AXEL (CONT’D)ZAZ, YOU'RE OVERHEATING!

We see an overheating indicator lights on the back of Zaz's pack FLASHING RED -- and suddenly -- as the Demon LANDS beside them -- the 'Big Bantha' in Zaz's hands suddenly SEIZES UP -- the BLASTER FIRE DIES AWAY --

The weapon GRINDS to a halt. Leaving only SILENCE...

ZAZIKKriff --

(into comms:)Six, you better open up!

The Demon's loading ramp begins to LOWER -- Zaz runs to help Axel to her feet. Unknown Woman helps Mako to his -- but as they all turn towards the opening Demon --

Zen Yaza has stepped out of cover. Four of his Pirates are still standing, all weapons raised. Zaz and Mako raise theirs, uncertainly. Axel clutches her shoulder. Everyone is still, waiting to see who will make the first move...

MISTER SIX (O.S.)Captain?

MECHANICAL STEPS descend the ramp -- the pirates point their weapons at -- Six, stiffly marching down.

MASTER SIXCaptain, my scans indicate there are still hostiles in the area.

Six freezes as he spots the pirates.

AXELYeah. Thanks, Six. We got it.

Zen takes stock of the damage. Less enthused than before.

ZEN YAZAAnd here I thought I was being careful not to underestimate you.

AXELDon't feel too bad. People always find a way to underestimate us.

ZEN YAZAAs you might expect, your continued massacring of my men will have to change the nature of my offer.

Axel steps forward, bolder than ever.

AXELWe're done here. Keep your plunder and we'll keep our cargo. No one needs this to escalate.

A machine damaged in Zaz's firestorm SPARKS VIOLENTLY.

ZEN YAZAI'd say we're well past that, Captain, wouldn't you?

AXELSo, you've seen the firepower we can bring. Believe me -- there's plenty more where that came from.

Axel glances at Zaz whose eyes widen. Axel gives him a desperate 'go with it' look before turning back to Zen. But as she continues her bluster...

We FOCUS ON Unknown Woman. Her gaze distant. A look of apprehension growing on her face... And then we hear...

DISEMBODIED WHISPERS... Coming from everywhere and nowhere. Only she seems to sense them. Only she seems to be hearing something no one else can... And her eyes widen.

AXEL (O.S.) (CONT’D)Count the room, Captain. It's an even match, but I don't like those odds for you.

UNKNOWN WOMANWait...

AXEL (O.S.) (CONT'D)And I know you've called for reinforcements! But by the time they get here, we'll be long gone!

UNKNOWN WOMANAxel.

It's the first time she's heard Unknown use her name. Everyone looks at Unknown. She looks anxious.

UNKNOWN WOMAN (CONT’D)Mandalorians are coming.

Ominous beat. The temperature in the room changes almost instantly. Axel's bravado evaporates. Mako is alert.

ZAZIKWhat are you talking about?

MAKOAre you sure?

Unknown gives Mako a meaningful look. Again, something unspoken passes between them. Axel is completely taken aback to hear this and looks back at Zen for confirmation... Zen just smiles, apologetically.

ZEN YAZAAlas, it's true. How your friend here knows, however, is beyond me.

AXEL(beat, genuinely scared:)

Why?

ZEN YAZAThis frigate is carrying Republic cargo. And the Republic is at war, in case you didn't know.

ZAZIKYou're going to sell Republic cargo to the enemy?

ZEN YAZANot quite. I'm going to offer them a generous share of the loot as a gift. As I said, networking in this line of work is getting more and more complicated every day.

MAKOEVE...

It's the first time we hear her name.

MAKO (CONT’D)Eve? Eve, listen to me.

Axel and Zaz exchange glances, turn to see Mako beside EVE (Unknown Woman) who is trying to keep her cool. But it's a losing battle. Eve looks to him. Unable to hide her fear.

MAKO (CONT’D)If Mandalorians are coming, that changes things. You know what we need to do...

Beat. Eve looks between Mako and the Pirates. Then back at Mako. She takes a deep, calming breath. And in moments...

She is placid. Almost a different person. She steps forward with a deep set calm, stepping passed a speechless Axel and Zaz. She walks before Zen and his four remaining pirates.

She stops. Stares hard at them...

EVEYou will let us go...

ZEN YAZANo, I don't think I --

PIRATE #3We will let you go.

Zen frowns at the pirate who said it. Then back at Eve.

EVEYou will let us go. Now.

PIRATE #4We will let you go now.

Zaz and Axel stare in disbelief. Mako is troubled. But not surprised. He looks towards the ramp, where Six awaits.

MAKOCaptain, I suggest we move.

Mako, still clutching his side, begins to strafe towards the open ramp where Mister Six awaits. Zaz moves to follow him, but Axel... Axel is frozen, hand still at her shoulder.

EVEDrop your weapons.

Two of the pirates obey. Their weapons CLATTER to the floor. The other two look as confused as Zen. They look towards their Captain for guidance. Eve glares, ominously.

Zen stares, as something finally dawns on him. He taps a button on his belt. A SMALL, ROUND SCOUT DROID discreetly rises behind his shoulder and faces Eve, a RED LIGHT flashing next to a large CAMERA LENS. Recording her....

ZEN YAZADo as she says boys...

The other two pirates hesitantly set down their weapons. Zen TOSSES his own, eyes glued to Eve. His shock is gone. Instead, a subtle smile is creeping across his face.

Eve glances behind her. Zaz, Mako, and Six are already at the ship. Eve nods towards Axel, who is still frozen.

EVEMove, Captain.

Axel moves towards the Demon. Regroups with Zaz. All eyes are still on Eve. Satisifed, Eve turns to join them at the Demon.

ZAZIKWhat the hell is going on?

AXELZaz... She's a Jedi.

Suddenly -- Zen QUICKDRAWS a sidearm and takes a POTSHOT at Eve while her back is turned -- but in one swift motion, Eve has already reached out a hand towards Mako --

The rectangular box he's been holding OPENS on its own and a SILVER OBJECT SOARS THROUGH THE AIR, STRAIGHT INTO EVE'S HANDS -- SHE IGNITES THE BLADE JUST IN TIME TO EFFORTLESSLY DEFLECTS BOTH SHOTS -- one of which BOUNCES back to hit Zen's hands and send the weapon FLYING out of his grasp!

But... the blade is no ordinary lightsaber. Eve wields a BLACK, FLATTENED BLADE GLOWING PURE WHITE HOT ENERGY.

AXEL (CONT’D)(frowning at the blade)

...or maybe not?

As Zen shakes the pain away from his hand, Mako raises his blaster and FIRES BACK -- the other two pirates jump into action to retrieve their weapons and just like that --

THE FIREFIGHT IS BACK ON -- but our crew is already escaping up the ramp of the Demon, Eve bringing up the rear with her dark blade still activated. Only Zen does nothing. Watching her go with an expression of utter fascination.

As our heroes disappear behind the CLOSING RAMP of the Demon and his pirates continue to FIRE, Zen gives a SHARP WHISTLE. The tiny SCOUT DROID rises up fully into the air and releases a TINY PROJECTILE at the Demon as it begins to take off --

We are CLOSE ON the Demon's hull as a SMALL BLINKING DEVICE attaches itself to the ship. Zen smiles, satisfied.


A BLINKING DOT comes up on one of the Lieutenant's terminals. She FLIPS a switch on the terminal and smiles.


The Howling Demon SOARS away from the cargo frigate. And just as TWO BEHEMOTH MANDALORIAN WARSHIPS EMERGE out of hyperspace -- the Demon ZOOMS OFF at lightspeed. And vanishes....

INT. HOWLING DEMON - COCKPIT - HYPERSPACE

The dazzling blue tunnel of HYPERSPACE is outside. Axel stands in the cockpit next to Six in the pilot's chair. Finally, she SITS BACK in the co-pilot's chair, exhausted. Her hand still at her shoulder...

MISTER SIXI will see to our guests. One of them requires medical attention.

AXELHey, wait! So do I!

MISTER SIX (O.S.)You are not a guest.

Axel's face falls. She shakes her head, then scoots back in her chair. Taking a quiet moment for herself...

INT. HOWLING DEMON - LOUNGE AREA

A humble lounge chamber in the Demon. Eve sits next to Mako, whose side-wound is being tended to by Six. Zazik watches them warily from an opposite corner, PLUGGING IN the 'Big Bantha' into a LARGE BATTERY PACK. Axel enters. Zaz looks up:

ZAZIKHow's the shoulder?

AXELI'll live. How's our boy, here?

ZAZIKSame. Recharge will take some time.

They both look down at the 'Big Bantha'. Then up at each other. Zaz is antsy. Axel knows why. She turns to Mako...

AXELSo, about the rest of our payment.

Beat. Mako and Eve exchange glances. Mako looks at Axel.

MAKORight. Well, Captain, I'm afraid I have a confession to make. What I've already transferred to you is all I had on hand.

ZAZIKI knew it. I knew it was too good to be true. You promised us double!

Zaz is pissed. But Axel looks from Mako to Eve.

AN ERUPTION OF STEAM BURSTS from the wall just behind him.

Zen stands, hands behind his back, smiling wide. His lieutenant stands beside him. The four surviving pirates stand behind him looking terrified... And now we see --

A HOLOGRAM: A recording of Eve IGNITING her saber, DEFLECTING Zen's attack. The hologram is projected by Zen's Scout Droid. The light flickers across a sea of SLEEK, MENACING HELMETS.

A GROUP OF FULLY ARMORED MANDALORIANS are watching...

ZEN YAZASee anything familiar?

The hologram pauses on: Eve glaring, the black saber in hand.
