Can you imagine a world where everyone had the same interests and were good at the same things? I can, and I'm glad it's not the world we live in. We'd never make new friends, go to different places or think up new ideas. How boring would that be!

Standing out from the crowd doesn't always mean being as loud as you possibly can or wearing the brightest clothes. It's about being confident to speak your mind, even if what you think is different to everyone else.

I think it’s important that we get involved in the clubs and activities that are available here at the Academy. There is a huge choice, from rugby on the school field to the Chess challenge in the LRC. They all allow us to show our unique talents.

Another way for all of us to stand out from the crowd is by taking the initiative to do that little bit extra, whether that be helping others achieve their potential, raising money for charity or volunteering in the community. Each show that you are trying to get the most out of the amazing opportunities you have.

As part of the senior team I would suggest members of the Sixth Form could assist younger pupils with their subjects. Those who take part would be showing their willingness to help others, an essential in life and a great addition to your CV.

So no matter what your academic achievements are or your ambitions for the future you should make the most out of your time here and allow your individuality to shine.
