{A} QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:- Q1 What is diversity? Illustrate some examples. ANS 1: Diversity means that each individual is unique, having individual differences. These differences may be because of personal qualities, physical features, social or economic background or cultural factors. For e.g. 1. In our classroom there are many children from different cultures, speaking different language, following different religion and celebrating different festival. 2. In international cricket all the players belonging to different communities and regions play together as an Indian team.

Q2 How is India diversified in terms of language? ANS 2: India has vast diversity in language. There are officially 22 languages. In our constitution, the official languages of the union of India are Hindi and English.

Q3 Explain the diversity of India in terms of clothes and food. ANS 3:

CLOTHES:- If we travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari we can see the diversity in the clothes and costumes worn by the people. The traditional clothing of Indians includes sarees, ghagra choli, salwar kameez, dupatta for women and dhoti, lungi, pyjama and kurta for men. FOOD:- There is a huge variety of food eaten by the people in different regions depending on availability of food, raw material, spices and cooking traditions. Q4 Who coined the slogan “Unity in Diversity”? What does it mean? ANS 4: The slogan “Unity in Diversity” was given by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It means that despite all our differences we are one! Q5 What are the advantages of diversity? ANS 5: The advantages of diversity are: 1) It teaches us that there are different ways of doing the same thing. 2) It helps in building a progressive society which is willing to embrace the good features of other societies. 3) It helps us to learn about the variety of rich culture, languages, life style of others and helps us enrich our culture.
