CIP/SIP SystemsMany installed CIP/SIP systems use a manual/automated by-pass system with

relatively low capacity steam traps to control the flow of cleaning fluid and condensate.It can be seen from the above diagrams that there are significant pipework

savings when using a BT6HC instead of the traditional system.The BT6HC can be used on a variety of applications within clean steam and

hygienic systems. Its high cold capacity makes it an excellent choice for joint CIP/SIPsystems and also for drainage of large process vessels where initial condensate

and air volumes are very high but normal running loads are low.

Filtered SteamA filtered steam station produces steam to be

used for direct injection into food products, culinarysteam, or for use in sterilizers and autoclaves.

Thermostatic TrapsThermostatic traps are most widely used in process applications,

as they can be designed to be freedraining and operate close to steamtemperature at any given pressure.A large orifice helps eliminate thepossibility of fouling in the presenceof contaminated condensate orcleaning solutions, while minimalcondensate retention and excellentair venting capabilities associatedwith thermostatic traps ensurerapid heat-up and optimumsterilization.

Thermo-Dynamic® TrapsThermo-Dynamic® traps are

BT6 Steam Trap

The BT6 Thermostatic steamtrap offers a polished 316Lstainless steel finish for maximum corrosion resistance.Quick release Tri-Clamp®

compatible end connectionsand center body clamp assuresease of maintenance, reduces downtime and provides compatibility with other processsystem components. FT16 /FT46 Steam Trap

The FT16 and FT46 are high capacity traps designed forapplications requiring continuous drainage of high condensate loads in cleansteam systems.These float andthermostatictraps preventback-up andmaximizeprocess efficiency. Athermostatic air ventefficiently removes airand other incondensiblegases, maximizing heattransfer; therefore,reducing heat up times.

BTM7/BTS7 Steam Traps

The BTM7 (maintainable) and BTS7(sealed) are constructed of 316L stainless steel in a lightweight,compact design allowingeasy installation at lowinitial cost. The BTM7and BTS7 are availablewith screwed, extendedtube end, or Tri Clamp®

compatible end connectionsfor use in either tubing or piping sys-tems. Typical applications include sterilizers, autoclaves, and block andbleed systems.

BTD52L Steam Trap

The compact BTD52L Thermo-Dynamic® steam trap is available in a wide range of sizes with screwed, Tri-Clamp®

compatible or extended tube endconnections. Clean, tight shut-off at steam saturationtemperature without awater seal eliminateswaste of valuable cleansteam. Typical applications includemains drainage, andin-line filter sterilization. Actualmaterial certification isavailable as standard forthe BTD52L tube end and Tri-Clamp®compatible versions.

SRV6 User benefits

In order to overcome steam main heat losses,reduce the pipework size, and ensure optimumgeneration efficiency, pressure in a system isnormally higher than that required by individualuser equipment.

To satisfy the requirements of these users,a pressure regulator must be used to reducepressure either within the distribution system,or at each point of use.

The SRV6 Pressure Regulator

The SRV6 is a direct acting regulatordesigned to reduce pressure in clean and puresteam, liquid and gas systems. Available in 1",1-1/2" and 2" sizes, the SRV6 is manufactured in316/316L stainless steel, with all wetted partsmechanically polished to 20 microinches Ra, thenelectropolished. The angle pattern design ensuresthat the valve is self draining, while Tri-Clamp®

compatible connections ease removal and ensurecleanliness. Diaphragm restraints and valve travelstop, which are standard features, preventsexcessive diaphragm movement under vacuumconditions, which extends service life and reducesmaintenance costs.

How the SRV6Pressure Regulator Works

Downstream pressure is set by compressingthe control spring. On start-up, flow passesthrough the main valve resulting in a downstreampressure buildup. As the downstream pressurebegins to rise it acts on the underside of thediaphragm, opposing the spring force and causingthe main valve to move closer to its seat. Thismovement throttles the flow, ensuring that thedownstream pressure is accurately controlled atthe desired set point.

SRV461/463Pressure Regulator

The simple and accurate pressurecontrolling SRV461(threaded)/463 (flanged)regulators with 316 Ti wettedparts ensure corrosionresistance against aggressivesteam and process fluids. Thevalve head is supplied with a soft O-ring seal for tight shut off on steam andliquid service. The SRV461/463 rangeis available in sizes 1/2" to 2".

DP163 Pressure Regulator

The DP163 is a self-powered, pilot operated,pressure reducing valve constructed entirelyof stainless steel. Its self-acting operationeliminates the cost of an external powersource. Color coded, interchangeablesprings allow quick and easy change ofdownstream pressure range eliminatingthe need to isolate the valve or break thesteam line. Downstream pressure issensed either internally or through anexternal sensing pipe. The DP163 isavailable in sizes 1/2" to 3" withflanged connections. Typicalapplications include main line pressurereduction or where high accuracy ofcontrol is required.

SRV2 Pressure Regulator

The SRV2 is a direct actingpressure reducing valve with all316/316L wetted componentssuitable for use in steam,compressed air and othergas services. The compactdesign of the SRV2 makesit ideal for point of useapplications such assterilizers and autoclaves,offering a cost effectivealternative to morecomplicated pilot or pistonoperated valves. The SRV2is available with threadedconnections in 1/2", 3/4" and 1"sizes. Three control spring rangesallow operation over a wide span ofdownstream pressures.

Loss of production, incomplete sterilization,or product contamination are all conditions thatcan result from poor steam quality and purity.Spirax Sarco steam filters are designed to helpeliminate these costly and avoidable occurrencesby ensuring both moisture and solid contaminantparticles, such as pipe scale and rust, are filteredfrom the steam supply.

The CSF26 Steam FilterThe CSF26 Steam Filter is an all 316L

stainless steel unit with a removable sinteredstainless steel element available in sizes up to3". A single closure device allows for ease ofmaintenance, while a cleanable element ensuresoptimum efficiency and prolonged life.

Available TypesAvailable in a range of sizes from 1/2" to 3",

the CSF26 is supplied with a 2.8 micron absoluterated element. Also available, are complete filterstations which are in accordance with 3-Aaccepted practice guidelines. S6 & 1808 SS SeparatorSeparators remove moisture fromsteam and gas systems byproviding a drain point for waterdroplets moving along the pipe walland deflecting suspended moistureout of the main flow. The separatortherefore ensures steam/gas isdelivered to its point of use dry —particularly important for equipmentsuch as sterilizers. High efficiencyat wide ranges of flow rates alsominimizes the effects ofcondensate such as erosion,corrosion and wiredrawing ofvalve seats.
