Donors & Sponsors

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Inspire DePaul campaign! With your monetary contributions, we were able to raise $1,440 that helped pay for the performance rights for [title of show]!

BDT would also like to thank the Student Activity Fee for providing us additional

funding and the Office of Student Involvement for helping us navigate these

unprecedented times.

[title of show] was never originally meant to be performed during a pandemic, but man it definitely is the perfect production to create during a pandemic. I pitched the idea of presenting [title of show] for their Spring musical to the Blue Demon Theatre team board back in February 2021 for this exact reason. [title of show] is a production that doesn’t ask for much more than a talented cast and crew. The cast consists of five characters, the set design requires a minimum of five chairs and a keyboard, the costumes can be pulled from anyone’s closet, the choreography is not elaborate, and the comedic story can still be told while remaining six feet apart. It was the perfect show to produce during a time in life where confusion and worry fills the air. As you watch this film-style production of [title of show] take the time to reflect and think about your dreams, your passions, and your valued friendships. Achieving your dreams and believing in yourself cannot be successfully completed without the help of supportive friends, music, sarcasm, and good jokes. I was unsure about how I was going to make this show come together in the middle of a pandemic, but with the help of my cast and crew, we ended up creating something worth sharing.

Directing [title of show] has been the highlight of my junior year at DePaul University. I accepted the position at a time when Chicago had limited sunshine, classes were getting difficult, and motivation was getting lost. I desperately needed the opportunity to create and challenge myself and I am grateful every day that the Blue Demon Theatre team saw potential in me. This is my first big directing project, meaning I really stepped out of my comfort zone. Over the past few months I’ve learned that directing is something I really enjoy and plan to continue in my future. The most impossible of dreams can come true in a scary part of life with a solid support system by your side, as I am living proof because I am living one of mine. Thank you for taking the time to support our talented cast and crew, Blue Demon Theatre, and the theatre industry as a whole. Thank you for being “part of it all.” Gianna DeTomaso (she/her/hers)
