* The finished example is provided to model adding color and details to the work.=Students can use their own creativity to make changes to their work and add other=details. This makes the lesson a true artistic process. The game sheet is the=prompt, but the students make the creative choices.* Markers work well for adding color to this artwork. Sharpies are ideal, but=washable markers also work. Crayons can be used, but it is harder to get details=when layering and working with small drawings. Colored pencils work as well.* Students could also paint their work. Watercolor cakes and tempera work well. If=students are going to paint their work, carefully consider what type of paper will be=used. Thin paper doesn't take paint well. Copy paper would not be recommended=with painting.* Black markers make everything pop! When they are finished adding color with=whatever method chose, have the students trace ALL of their drawing lines with a=black marker. Black permanent markers are bolder than washable ones. The lines=look crisper and tend to provide a better contrast.* Templates are provided so the drawing can be differentiated.

Wbo was Joan Miró?Miró’s was born in Barcelona. He is most known for his surrealist painting and sculpturs. Miro's father was a watchmaker and goldsmith. Both his father’s background as an artisan and the landscape would be of great importance to Miró’s art. Miró followed his parents’ wishes, attended a commercial college. He then worked for two years as a clerk in an office until he had a mental and physical breakdown at 18 years old. His parents took him for metal recuperation. He attend an art school in Barcelona. His teacher at this school advising him to touch the objects he was about to draw, a procedure that strengthened Miró’s feeling for the spatial quality of objects. He experimented with the boldly colourful style, but his art was geometric, influenced by the work of Paul Cézanne and the Cubist artists. From early in his career Miró sought to establish means of metaphorical expression—that is, to discover signs that stand for concepts of nature in a transcendent, poetic sense. He wanted to portray nature as it would be depicted by a child equipped with the intelligence of an adult; in this respect, he had much in common with the Surrealists and Dadaists, two schools of modern artists.

Miró painted “dream pictures” and “imaginary landscapes” in which the linear configurations and patches of colour look almost as though they were set down randomly, as in The Policeman (1925). In paintings such as Dog Barking at the Moon (1926), he rendered figures of animals and humans as indeterminate forms.
