Find the unit on your network, open a web browser pointed to that IP address, and then log into it.

Its best to start with a fresh conguraon by going to the Advced menu and enteringfactory resetin

the CLI command box and clicking Submit.

This will pop up a CLI command window with the results of the command.

Next, enter applyinto the CLI command box and click Submit.

Then, enter saveinto the CLI command box and click Submit.

Lastly enter reboot systeminto the CLI command box and click Submit. This command will not receive

a response.

Close the CLI command window and aer a minute or so, refresh the main browser window. When the

unit is back up, you should log back in again.

Once logged in, click Qck C, and then click Cewhen the following warning appears.

First, set the country to your locaon, and then click Submitand accept any popups that appear to

conrm the seng.

Next, set up the unit for a stac IP address on your network, and click Sbt when done.

This will require a reboot of the system.

While your gateway reboots, open a new browser window and connect to your STAC VIP. Log in as

an administrator and open the conguraon page. Create a new SIP provider with the type ofSIP

Gateway. Congure the name and color as you wish. Refer to the STAC VIP User Manual if you need

help with this.

In the Acct Isecon, note the Usee. This is assigned by the STAC VIP, and you will

need it to congure your gateway device. Set a password, and note it as you will also need this for

conguring your gateway.

In the SIP Sessecon, set the IP address to the stac address where you congured your gateway

earlier. Also, note theGte Bd Pt, which is assigned by the STAC VIP.

Next, assign the SIP gateway provider to one or more lines. Consult the STAC VIP user manual for more

details.

Log back into your Vega gateway device, once again click Qck Cand go to the VIP secon.

Make the following sengs under VIP Devce C, substung your STAC VIP address in

place of the ... address shown, and substung the username and password from your

STAC VIP gateway cong for the Rest d Atec IDand Atec Pssd.

Once you have made all of the required changes, click Submit.

Note that the Vega user interface is quite fussy and aempts to disable (gray out) various

elds on this page, and that you may need to re-set previously made sengs in order to

enable elds for data entry.

Next, click Exet C on the le, and then Dl Pl. On the right, click Cll Peset Gs.

Add a new group as follows:

Next, modify the T_FXOdial plan.

Delete all of the entries except for Plan ID #, but selecng them and clickingDelete.

Change the sengs for the remaining plan as follows and click Submit.

Next, go back to the Dial Plan screen and modify the T_SIPdial plan.

Delete all but the rst entry in the dial plan.

Then, edit the remaining rst entry as follows:

When you are done, click Submit.

Next, go to the POTS conguraon secon under Exet C. Under Pt ID Allselect ONunder the

Caller ID column. Click Submitwhen you are done.

Providing you correctly chose your country seng earlier, usually the FXO Port Hardware Proles

defaults are correct, however you may specically wish to check the following:

Next, go to SIPunder Exet C. Click on MdunderSIP Ples.

Change the Reqest-URI Ptunder SIP Ple 1 Px Petes 1to the Gte Bd Pt(as

noted in the STAC VIP confguraon, page 6)and click Submit.

Change the Rest Reqest-URI Ptunder SIP Ple 1 Rest Petes 1to the

Gte Bd Ptand click Submit.

Next, go back to SIP Plescreen and click on Mdunder C?to edit the values for SIP Rest 1.

Change the Ptto the Gte Bd Ptand click Submit.

Next, under the Advancedsecon, enter in the following into the CLI Command eld and click Submit:

You should get a popup dialog with the following:

Lastly, click throughAl Ces, then Save, then Rebt Sste.

Wait for the system to reboot.

Connect up to six POTS lines to the rst six FXO ports on your gateway box. Test operaon with STAC

VIP by calling into the numbers and nong that STAC VIP lines show ringing.

You can test outgoing calls by clicking Cllon a STAC VIP line, entering in a number to dial, then clicking

the green Cll buon.

TECHNOTE ADDENDUMS

Since the rst release of this technote, there have a couple of issues reported. The following pages sh

the steps to change the seng for resolving these issues.

CHOPPY AUDIO

Under the Mediaseng, in the Med Cblttable, the g711Alaw64k entry needs to have a

change made to it. If Pcket Teis 30,you will hear choppy audio. To x: Click Mdon that item

and change it to 20. Aland Savethe changes.

GATEWAY STUCK IN INITIALIZING STATE AFTER A STAC VIP RESTART

In the SIPmenu, click Mdon SIP Ple 1(shown in red below):

Scroll down to the boom of the Mdpage and look for Rest Ex Te(s). Its set to 600

seconds ( minutes) by default. Reducing this to60seconds makes the gateway re-register once

per minute with the VIP, thus it comes back from inializing more quickly without requiring a reboot.

Sbt, Al, and Sve the changes.
