On Thursday of this week, Year 3 visited Ashdown Forest. They had a wonderful day with the sun shining and children being Stone Age People using sandstone to make pointed arrows from wood, building dens for shelter, foraging for food and tracking bears in the woods! As always children were wonderfully behaved and engaged.

New to Reception—September 2022 On our website are arrangements for how we will be organis-ing visits for parents/carers of children who are due to start school in September 2022.

With a number of Covid cases in schools, we will not be or-ganising large groups of parents to attend at one time. We have put our virtual tour back online. We will arrange small group visits for those who are new to the school, so that the Year 6 students can help the viewing of our facilities. These will be outside tours looking in to some areas of the school. Parents are asked to contact the school to register for a spe-cific time a day to visit.

Harvest Liturgy We know that this year there are many people in need of our practical support as well as our prayers. As a school we have therefore decided to support a Brighton charity called 'Voices in Exile' by collecting dry foods and toiletries during the period that we would usually collect for Harvest. (Please see separate email about exact items) The charity sup-ports refugees, asylum seekers and anyone who has no access to public funds, such as the homeless and destitute. There is also a link to the Voices in Exile website if you wish to find out more about the charity: https://www.voicesinexile.org/

We invite you all to send in appropriate donations which will be collected in class. Please send any donations in by the end of Tuesday.

Squid Game– Warning

We have been aware that some children have been watching ‘Squid Game’ or have seen elements of it through other games or social media channels. ‘Squid Game’ is violent and has scenes of a sexual nature that are not remotely appropriate for primary-age children. The plot involves rich people taking advantage of the desperation of the poor. Children watching content like this that is not meant for them could be linked to anxiety and mental health, as well as emotional and social difficulties. We would urge parents and carers to check their child is not watching this or playing games linked to it.

School Discos– Thursday 21st October

Year 1,2 & 3– 5.30-6.30pm

Year 4,5 & 6—7.00-8.00pm

We will send wristbands home with the children on Monday. Please write an emergency name and contact number for your child and attach it to your child’s wrists before dropping off at the disco as this will help speed up the process. Please also send a drink bottle with your child.

If you are able to help volunteer at the disco, please email: [email protected]

Uniform clearance autumn sale everything 50p each at the disco evening Thursday 21 Oct 5.30 to 6.30 Then 7 to 8 pm In classroom in foundation. Please bring correct change if possible and your own bag. Please drop off you children and come and stock up on some uniform.

EYFS Toy Donations We would really like to replenish the toys we have in our classroom. If you have any old or unwanted toys please feel free to send these in with your child or drop them to the office. Here are some ideas of toys we would love. Thank you in advance, The EYFS Team

The search for a new official mascot for the England men’s and women’s teams has begun. Armed either with pens and paper or fancy design software, we want to see pupils’ amazing ideas! Character, animal or person, we want to see their imaginations go wild and for them to then tell us why their entry would be the perfect official mascot for the England men’s and women’s teams. So, once they have created their brilliant mascot, fill out the online form below. All we ask is that it is made into a jpeg file. If it isn't already in that format, it's easy enough to do - just take a picture on a phone and then upload it. Good luck!
