SCRIPTURE CORNER THE INEXPRESSIBLE MYSTERY The God of the universe is mysterious. Science has not been able to solve the mystery of how the uni-verse came into being or explain exactly what continues to give it creative energy and masterful design. No religion asserts that it has found words to name fully the ineffable mystery of God, for no matter what name we use, God always transcends our limited ability to understand. God is a mystery to be believed, not known. And yet, we Christians believe that our name for God best expresses that inexpressible mystery: God is the Most Holy Trinity of three persons united in a communion of love, pouring forth that creative, saving, sancti-fying love into the world. Today’s scriptures celebrate the mystery of the Trinity and give us clues for living that mystery in our lives. ——Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
NEW PARISH OFFICE HOURS FRIDAYS
Memorial Day-Labor Day, The parish office will close at 12 noon every Friday.
FATHER’S DAY COLLECTION The diocese has asked us to support a special collection on Father’s Day. It is important for you to know that this collection is for retired diocesan priests in this diocese. Diocesan priests are provided a modest pension in their golden years by an endowment to which parishes pay a yearly assessment. In addition, priests who are in their senior years receive a small pension through Catholic Sharing Appeal. In our diocese, the population of priests is aging. The endowment fund has seen a decline over the years in in-vestment returns. The cost of living has increased. These factors led to the decision to take up this special collection. There are two other collections during the year—one is for Aged and Infirm Priests and the other is for Retired Religious. Neither of these collections provides funding for aged and retired priest of this diocese. As we honor fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other men who have nurtured us on this Father’s Day, please con-sider a generous gift to assure a worthy pension for our spiritual Fathers—the priests who serve in the Diocese of Biloxi. If you have misplaced your envelope, extra envelopes or a plain envelope may be found on the display cases in church—just mark your donation “Help for Aging Priests.”

GREETINGS FROM FR. DOMINIC As little boys, my cousin and I escaped Vietnam on my dad's fishing boat. The uncer-tainty frightened the bravest but faith in the Lord and his Blessed Mother drove us to move for-ward with confidence, esp at sea where you are but a speck amidst its vastness. On the boat we had a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, a source of immense consolation for refugees without a
home except for hope of one day reaching heaven. As a child I remember praying the Rosary with my elders... the rumbling engine providing monotonous music, the waves and wind joining in. We would sing a song to Mary, entitled "Oh Mother, Our Bright Star". It was the first song I memo-rized as a 3 year old. Thanks to Mary's intercession and pro-tection, after 5 days at sea, we made it safely to our refugee camp. Not a single person suffered illness. That was 39 years ago. On the 100 anniversary of our Lady’s appearance to the little shepherds, we want to go visit her and pay our filial respect and thank her for everything she's done for us. Besides visiting our Lady of Fatima, we also wanted to walk as pilgrims along the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James). What a wonderful journey. The walk was tiring but the purpose makes it so beautiful and enjoyable. Meeting new friends along the way was a highlight as well. One thing I made sure I did was to pray for my family and friends, especially all my parishioners from St. Thomas and Sacred Heart.

SUMMER SCRIPTURE STUDY CALLED BY GOD Jesus says, "Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock." (Rev 3:20) How do you respond when God is knocking on your door? This study will look at how that question has been answered by key characters in scrip-ture: Moses, Jonah, Ruth, Isiah, the First Disciples, Saul, and Lazarus. How did they respond to God's call? And what lessons can we apply to our lives today? When: Wednesdays, Star ted May 10th and continuing through June 28th. Time and Place: 7:00pm, 2nd floor in the parish office complex. For information, call or text Dave Gauthier, 228-596-8835. No registration is necessary. Plan on attending any or all of the sessions.
LITURGICAL DANCERS FUNDRAISER The Our Lady of Lavang Marian Liturgical Danc-ers (Vietnamese teens in the Diocese of Biloxi), have per-formed the liturgical dances at our annual Diocesan Ro-sary Rally and have also performed the traditional Viet-namese dances at other charitable events in the dio-cese. They have entertained us several times with their beautiful dances at our St. Thomas' Annual Senior Citi-zens' Dinner. They have never been to Disney World and would like very much to go there this June. They and Sis-ter Cecilia and Sister Mary are making the Sisters' famous Vietnamese egg-rolls to raise funds to help them pay for part of their Disney's trip. They are selling 1 frozen bag of 20 egg-rolls for $20. If you would like to order some egg-rolls to sup-port these young ladies and help them get to Disney World, please contact Sister Cecilia at (228) 243-0947 or email: [email protected]. Thank you in advance for you support and generosity.
