GOD’S SUMMONS Confronted with God’s power and majesty, the first response of the prophet Isaiah was to acknowledge his sinfulness. “Woe is me, I am doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips,” he said aloud. Likewise, with his empty fishing nets dramatically filled at Jesus’ instruction, Peter fell to his knees and cried out, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” Next, Peter got up. He docked his boats then left to follow Jesus. Isaiah also had a dramatic change of heart. When he heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” Isaiah answered, “Here I am, send me.” We are summoned daily by the Risen Lord. We are reminded of the saving power of the gospel and know in our heart of hearts that, as St. Paul wrote, believing in anything else won’t lead to anything. What will it take for you to move past your sinfulness? What will it take for you to get off your knees? What will it take for you to bring to realize what is unimportant and to accept your call to be God’s messenger? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

PRAYER FOR OUR PRIESTS

Gracious and loving God, we thank You for the gift of our priests.

Through them we experience Your presence in the Sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for Your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding and strength they need to follow in the footsteps

of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of Your Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of Your

divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.

Amen

LUNCHKINS

Please join us for Lunchkins on Feb 13 in the CC at 11:30am if possible. No admission, no agenda-just a gath-ering of friends for fellowship and a chance to meet new friends. FEBRUARY 10, 2019—FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Both Middle and High School Students gather after the 5:30pm Life Teen Mass. Edge Nights (6-8th Grades) will gather upstairs in the Youth Room and Life Nights (9-12th grades) will meet upstairs in the RCIA Room/balcony. The sessions will begin at 6:30pm and end at 8pm.

Attendance will be taken each Sunday evening!

February 3rd- Super Bowl Social 8th-10th- SEARCH RETREAT- 9th through 12th Graders, Dedeaux 10th- Edge- “We are Family”- The goal of this night is

for the youth to learn that God loves us so much He created us to not only be His children, but to actually be like Him. The lives of Adam and Eve teach us how much we are loved and how we sep-arate ourselves from God when we do not trust Him. We also learn that God is a loving Father who never abandons us.

Life Teen- “Meet the Parents”- The goal of this Life Night is to help teenagers recognize that orig-inal sin is a real inheritance that we gained from Adam and Eve, but that Christ has given us a new inheritance that can replace the hold of sin and death through grace.

17th- Edge and Life Teen- “Holy or Hypocrite” - The goal is to acknowledge hypocrisy and judgment within the Church and to challenge teens to recog-nize the Church as the path to holiness for all peo-ple.

24th- Edge- “Our Hope and Our Promise”- The goal of this Edge Night is to provide the middle school youth with a clear understanding of who Abraham was, what God asked of him, how it pertains to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, and what it means for them as individuals.

Life Teen- “Yes.”- The goal of this night is to help teens understand that faith requires obedience; we cannot have faith in God but refuse to follow His call in our lives. Using the scriptural examples of Abraham and Mary as models of obedience and as witnesses to the power of faith, teens will be chal-lenged to be open to the will of God in their lives.

ABOUT ST. JOSEPH’S HELPING HANDS

St. Joseph Helping Hands is a group of parishioners who provide a helping hand to those in need. Services are limited but their goal is to help friends and neighbors who may have fallen through the cracks-folks on limited in-come who cannot afford to hire someone to do a small job but can afford the materials. They do almost anything a handyman would do-clean yards, mend fences, patch sheetrock, minor electrical repairs, replace doors, paint, repair wheelchair ramps, etc. Their services are free. They do not have any source of funding for materials-donations are accepted. A form to request work may be found on the display cases in church or contact Liz Ruth (president) at 228-314-4179. (Corrected Phone No.) The St. Joseph’s Helping Hands meetings are the 4th Thurs of every month at 6pm in the church office confer-ence room. Report for assignments on the first Sat of each month at 8:30am in the church’s parking lot.

PETITIONS OF PRAYER INFORMATION Names for the sick list come from hospital visitation lists; also from telephone calls made to the parish office. We are aware that there are many others in the parish and community who are suffering and, therefore, we ask those who are praying to include in your prayers “all in our par-ish and community who are in need of healing, physical or spiritual.” We regret that space does not allow us to list each and everyone’s name in the bulletin each week. The names remain on the list for a period of four weeks before being removed unless a new request is re-ceived for the person.
