How to Register to be a Parishioner of St. Theresa Often, in the sacramental life of the Church, Catholic faithful will need to prove residency in a parish. Registra-tion with the parish office allows us to track your sacra-mental data and keep you connected with the life of the
church. In order to register, come to the parish office Monday – Friday 9:30am – 3:30pm to fill out a registration card. Yellow registration cards can also be obtained at all of the Church entrances – these can be mailed to the par-ish or given to an usher during a church liturgy.

August 13, 2017 Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Parishioners, This Tuesday, August 15, 2017, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this day, we recall that at the end of her life on earth, Our Lady was assumed, body and soul, by the power of God into heaven. Our Lord granted to Mary this privilege so that no decay would come to harm the body which was the vessel that contained his Beloved Son for nine months. The Assumption IS a Holy Day of Obligation this year. (It is one of those that depends on which day of the week it falls.) Masses will be offered according to the following schedule: Vigil Mass, Monday evening at 7:30pm; Masses Tuesday at 6:15 and 8:30am; 12:15, 4:30, and 7:30pm. Please note that the Vigil Mass will be the novus ordo Mass offered in Latin, with our newly formed Latin schola providing the music. As summer break begins to wind down, we are looking ahead to the start of a new school year. Our Religious Education program is still in need of some teachers, aides, and volunteers to fill other vital roles. If you might be able to help, I want to encourage you to contact the RE office to see how you might best be able to assist us in passing on the Faith to our young people. You don't need a theology degree to teach -- just a desire to help pass on to a new generation the rich treasure that is our Faith. Adults- Plan Ahead to Volunteer Want to volunteer at the many St. Theresa’s children based programs/events (i.e. fall picnic, STTACK, Merci-ful Harvest, school functions)? St. Theresa’s encourages and welcomes your involvement however it requires that all volunteers be VIRTUS trained (volunteer training & paperwork). The VIRTUS paperwork may take up to 4-6 weeks to clear.

Why not try us over the summer. We now meet every Wednesday after-noon from 1-3pm in the Louis Martin room of the parish center.
Students from 3rd through 12th grade are welcome to give it a try. Presently we have 11 members, with 2 who are in middle school and 4 in high school. We will pray the rosary, conduct our meeting, then perform a spiritual
work. Older students assist the younger ones.

NVJCYO—Northern Virginia Junior Catholic Youth Organization
NVJCYO has a member organization of approximately 45 parishes from the Diocese of Arlington. Their mission is to organize sports programs for parish youth throughout the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, to reinforce Catholic val-ues taught in parish schools and reli-gious education programs.

Consecration means to set aside for a sacred
purpose. Total Consecration to Jesus as set forth by St. Louis Marie de Montfort is a beautiful exercise to in-crease your spirituality and ability to truly serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Mary’s life was set aside for the sole purpose of serving our Lord. By follow-ing her example, we, too, can com-pletely give ourselves to Christ in a fundamental way that consecrates us to Him. We give our lives to Him in service and love.
Several things would happen: † You would be a complete person – made whole in God † You would acquire every feature of Jesus Christ with little pain or effort † You will renew perfectly the vows and promises of holy baptism † You will grow in holiness and in-crease your faith, hope, and love † You would be able to live out your vocation joyfully † You will find graces in your life mul-tiplying † You would not despair because of your sins † You would be doing the best thing you could do for all your loved ones.
In True Devotion to Mary, St. Louis Marie sets out his teaching on devo-tion to Jesus through Mary in general, and proposes a particular form of de-votion, involving a total dedication or consecration of oneself to Jesus through the hands of Mary. It is a prayerful and focused method of draw-ing closer to Jesus than ever before.
Join the Legion of Mary in beginning the 33 Days of Total Consecration on Monday, September 4 and ending on Saturday, October 7 this beautiful act of consecration was used by St. John Paul The Great: “Reading this book (St. Louis de Montfort’s True De-votion to Mary) was to be a turning point in my life…. This Marian devo-tion…has since remained a part of me. It is an integral part of my interior life and of my spiritual theology.”

St. Theresa 12-Days Pilgrimage to Ireland and Scotland Father Guest will lead our 7th Annual Pilgrimage to Ireland and Scotland. It will be from April 9 - 20, 2018. Baptisms
Parents desiring Baptism for their child must attend a class, preferably before the child’s birth. The clas-ses are held the first Thursday of each month at 7:30pm in the Louis Martin Conference Room in the Administration Bldg. After you attend the class, you may schedule your child for the Sacrament of Bap-tism (Sundays 1:30 pm).
