Wicklow Feile Champions 2017
Huge congratulations to our U14 Camogie team who came out as overall winners in the County Feile on Good Friday in Ballinakill.
In the group stages we beat Bray Emmetts, narrowly defeated Knockananna and beat Glenealy convincingly. In the semi-final we played Avondale again winning
well. The final was a very different game when we took on Donard with two very evenly matched teams putting on a fine display of camogie.
It was neck and neck all the way through with Donard winning by a single point with 3 minutes on the clock, however a late goal by our corner forward Emma Daly brought the Wicklow Feile Cup home to Kiltegan and deservingly so. This great team of young players have been developing over many years and it is great to see just rewards for their efforts.
Panel: Rebecca Donegan, Hope Tallon, Katie Boland, Emma Byrne, Miriam O’ Keefe, Sophie Bermingham, Lauren Kavanagh, Amber House, Moya Cremin, Faye Corrigan, Ciara Boland, Kristen Mallin, Roisin Timmins, Leah Donegan, Sorcha Gartland, Emma Daly, Clare Corcoran, Matyna Mielnik.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Moya Cremin who has a hand injury at the moment and is in a cast.
This is only the beginning of the journey for Feile. Kiltegan will participate in the National Feile in Wexford on the weekend of June 16th-18th. Our club will be holding a number of fund-raising events during May to help cover the costs of buses, food and gear. (Advertisements on fundraising events in the coming weeks.) The last time a Kiltegan team qualified for Feile was in 1999 (18yrs ago). We as your local camogie club would ask for your support in these efforts.
Well done to our U16s who seen off Eire Og/Kilcoole on Wednesday night in the league on a scorline of 3-0 2-0.
Our U12’s play in their first blitz of the year this Friday night – enjoy it girls and do your best !
Training for all Juveniles on Wednesday nights @6:30pm. All new members welcome.
“Best Wishes to Michael Dwyers Hurlers who take part in the Wicklow Feile Qualifiers this week-
end. “
Kiltegan GAA club had a great week on the playing field. Our Senior football
team had back to back wins in the sen-ior football league against Carnew and Newtown, and our junior team beat Donard/Glen in division 4 of the junior football league. Congratulation to Kiltegan U14 Camo-gie team on winning Co. Feile Champi-onship on Friday. Our club wish to convey their sympathy to the family & relatives and friend of Paudie Doyle, Rathvilly, who was in-terned in Rathvilly cemetery last Mon-day week.
Paudie transferred from Rathvilly GAA club to Kiltegan when The Talk of the Town opened in 1972. He played full forward when the first Kiltegan team won their first ever football medal when they won the Junior football league in 1993. He was elected chairman of the club in 1974, lost out at the AGM in 1975, elected chairman again in 1976 to 1978 when he went back to his club in Rathvilly where he also served as chair-man. He was a sub in the 1975 junior championship team, and was also a selector of various teams from 78 to 98. Paudie was a great club man and helped the club in many ways during his time in Kiltegan, A great GGA man. May he rest in peace.
