From Sister Teresa, Pastoral Associate Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

We have begun the Lenten season, this is a new gift from the Lord, who, by his infinite mercy, puts in our hands a unique opportunity to reorient our life and walk in continuous conversion.

This Sunday's Gospel tells us the temptations of Jesus, who, guided by the Holy Spirit, is taken to the desert to be tempted by the devil. Jesus does not fall into temptation and refutes each one with the power of the Word.

A different thing happens to us, so we must remain very close to the Lord to help us emerge victoriously from temptations. To make us a little more aware of what the devil can do so that we fall into his claws, I want to share one message given by Pope Francis in one of his masses celebrated in the Chapel of Santa Marta in the State of the Vatican: He said: "There is a "seductive" enemy who takes advantage of our curiosity and our vanity "by promising" well-wrapped gifts "in a beautiful" package, without letting us see what's inside "; which is like "a rabid and chained dog" that we should not be approached - because otherwise "bites you, destroys you" - and with whom you should never talk, on the contrary, you must fight with the weapons of prayer, penance, and fasting."

In our daily lives the temptation is still current, "the Devil walks like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, resist firmly in the faith" reminds us St. Peter (1Pe 5,8-9), for this reason, we cannot lower our guard; This resisting him firmly in the faith means that inside and out we must be vigilant about the different ways in which the evil spirit wants to enter our lives to win the fight. The temptation is one of the most arduous and persevering works of the evil one; therefore, "Dear Brothers: Blessed is the man who endures the test because, after it, he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who They love him. (Sant 1,12-15).

Brothers, let us challenge each other for the advice of the Pope and for what the apostles said in their different letters, let us seek to transform our lives and to please God who does not stop showing us his love. Let us live this time of Lent as the only one, the first, and the last opportunity in the making our most significant conversion effort.

Apreciados hermanas y hermanos en Cristo

Hemos iniciado el tiempo cuaresma, este es un nuevo regalo del Señor, quien por su infinita misericordia

pone en nuestras manos una nueva oportunidad para reorientar nuestra vida y caminar en continua

conversión. El Evangelio de este domingo nos relata las tentaciones de Jesús, quien guiado por el Espíritu

Santo es llevado al desierto para ser tentado por el diablo. Jesús no se deja tentar y refuta a cada

tentación con la fuerza de la Palabra.

Cosa distinta nos sucede a nosotros, por lo que debemos mantenernos muy pegados al Señor para

que nos ayude a salir victoriosos. Para concientizarnos un poco más de lo que puede hacer el demonio para que caigamos en sus garras, les comparto uno de los

puntos dichos por el Papa Francisco en una de sus misas celebrada en la Capilla de Santa

Marta en el Estado del Vaticano: “Hay un enemigo «seductor» que se

aprovecha «de nuestra curiosidad y nuestra vanidad» prometiendo «regalos bien

envueltos» en un bonito «paquete, sin dejarnos ver qué hay dentro»; que es como «un perro rabioso y encadenado» al que no

hay que acercarse —porque de otra manera «te muerde, te destruye»— y con el que no

hay que dialogar nunca, al contrario, combatir con las armas de la oración, de la

penitencia y del ayuno”.

En nuestro cotidiano vivir la tentación sigue siendo actual, “el Diablo anda como león rugiente buscando a

quien devorar, resistirle firmes en la fe” nos recuerda San Pedro, (1Pe 5,8-9), por este motivo no podemos bajar la guardia; este resistirle firmes en la fe quiere

decir, que interior y exteriormente debemos estar vigilantes a las diferentes formas de como el mal

espíritu quiere entrar en nuestra vida para ganarnos la lucha. La tentación es uno de los trabajos más arduos

y perseverantes que realiza del maligno por lo tanto, “Queridos hermanos: Dichoso el hombre que soporta

la prueba, porque una vez aquilatado, recibirá la corona de la vida que el Señor ha prometido a los que

le aman. (Sant 1,12-15).

Hermanos, dejémonos interpelar por los consejos del Papa y por lo dicho por los apóstoles en sus diferentes

cartas, busquemos transformar nuestra vida, y agradar a Dios que no deja de mostrarnos su amor. Vivamos este tiempo de cuaresma como el único, el

primero, y el último, poniendo nuestro mayor esfuerzo de conversión.
