Other Requirements:
• Experiential Learning and Career Exploration Activities
• These activities are planned learning activities that take place outside of the traditional classroom setting
• Relate to the Manufacturing sector. They may include job shadowing, job twinning, worksite tours, and attendance at career conferences or competitions.
‘Reach Ahead’ Experiences• These experiences provide students with another
opportunity to extend their learning into the educational and professional side of the Manufacturing sector. They may include
· attending a manufacturing trade show· visiting a range of manufacturing enterprises · visit and observe hands on activities presented by
equipment vendors· visit Durham College’s – Whitby Campus - followed by a debriefing, an assignment, or a task that
allows the student to reflect on their experiences.
Development of Ontario Skills Passport (OSP)
• The OSP is a web-based resource that provides a common language for describing the Essential Skills and work habits important for work, learning, and life.
• Essential Skills are the generic skills used in virtually all
occupations and all facets of daily life, and include • Reading Text, Writing, Document Use, Oral
Communication, Money Math, and Finding Information.
• Employers and cooperative education teachers will be responsible for the
completion of the OSP checklist.

summer school – You must complete 2 credits in the Manufacturing Sector.
• You need to get a placement on your own that relates to Manufacturing
