Today’s Meditation From time to time, newspapers and magazines will offer, as an item of “filler,” various laws that are still on the books but seem silly to us in our day and age. In one California city, it is illegal to have two indoor bathtubs in one house. Clean water, a precious commodity when the law was written, is now readily available, so the law seems silly. But the human value of
protecting and preserving precious resources is still around, evident in many conservation laws that seem sensible to us. So it is with the laws of religious tradition. What Jesus scorns today is others’ attitude toward ritual laws, an attitude that becomes nearly idolatrous when laws are observed for their own sake. Jesus teaches that observation of external ritual laws is of value only when they are emblems of our internal disposition toward the will of God. Our whole lives must follow the one ultimate law of God: to love God completely and to love neighbor entirely. Roman Catholicism is a tradition rich with customs, traditions, and even laws. As we continue to listen to the voice of Christ, we must always look into our own hearts and underneath our ritual practices to make sure that love of God and love of neighbor are what we prize above all.

We Welcome all Visitors!
Welcome to St. Stanislaus Parish. We are happy you chose to be with us today. If you are traveling, we pray for your safe journey. If you live in the Wilmington area, we hope you will return soon to worship with us.
Our Mission Statement
In recognition of God’s love and presence in every human being, the members of Saint Stanislaus Parish embrace the challenge to serve God and all His people. In fellowship with one another, we nurture our Catholic Faith through the celebration of the sacraments and reflection on the word of God. As a welcoming and culturally diverse Faith Community, we strive to proclaim and live the good News of Jesus Christ while providing for the spiritual and physical needs of those less fortunate.
Update for 2018 If you have placed a loved one on our prayer list and they are now no longer in need of prayers please call Rebecca in the office to have their name removed so that we may update our prayer list. If you have someone to add to the list you may also call Rebecca to add them. Thank you.
May all those in need of our prayers and their caretakers
feel God’s Love for them!
Our Prayer List
There is an appointed time for everything, and time
for every affair under the heavens.
—Ecclesiastes 3
A time to mourn:
St. Stanislaus Parish extends our deepest sympathy to Anna Evanko and family as they mourn the loss of their father and husband, John , who passed away on August 20, 2018. May God be with his family at this difficult time. We also extend our sympathy to Ernie and Mania Swart and family who lost their mother and grandmother Ruth Burton Swart, on July 23, 2018. Ruth would have been 102 years old on September 22nd. May Our Lord welcome her home to his Father’s Kingdom.

Prayer for Labor Day
On this weekend, when we rest from our usual labors, loving Father, we pray for all who shoulder the tasks of human labor—in the marketplace, in factories and offices, in the professions, and in family living.
We thank you, Lord, for the gift and opportunity of work; may our efforts always be pure of heart, for the good of others and the glory of your name.
We lift up to you all who long for just employment and those who work to defend the rights and needs of workers everywhere.
May those of us who are now retired always remember that we still make a valuable contribution to our Church and our world by our prayers and deeds of charity.
