Celebrate the Resurrection

April 5, Easter Sunday

Bring fresh cut flowers to place on the cross

throughout the morning.

6:30 am Youth Sunrise Service on the front

lawn – Breakfast to follow.

8:45 am Contemporary Worship Service.

11:00 am Traditional Worship Service.

Wow! It has been quite a month. We finished up our five week Soup for

the Lenten Soul program (thanks to all who prepared soup and helped

serve and to Diane Hollingsworth, Joe Little, Mary Pena and K.C. Creamer

for leading our study.) We began our upward soccer season (thanks to

Mike and Deanna White for coordinating this great ministry.) We have

walked with families through the loss of loved ones, cared for each other

during illnesses and celebrated a marriage. We celebrated Palm Sunday

with the waving of palm branches on Sunday morning and hunting Easter

eggs that afternoon (thanks to the music ministry for a great worship cel-

ebration and to Kathy Greenhill and crew for wonderful Easter Eggstrava-

ganza.) This week promises to be just as “full” with the chancel choir’s

offering of “Whispers of the Passion”, our Good Friday prayer vigil and, of

course, Easter Sunday. It is you who have made it all possible as you have opened your hearts, your

minds and your doors to serve others.

I sometimes get tired thinking about it, and we haven’t even gotten to the summer months. But it is a

“good tired.” It is evidence that we are living into our vision statement: “We are a vibrant, intergenera-

tional and culturally diverse community of faith whose purpose is to bring people into relationship with

Jesus Christ.”

I thank you for all you have done to make this past month a “life touching” experience for so many, and I

thank you in advance for the many ways you will continue to serve Christ in the future. Lisa Callaway

United Methodist Women will host Deven Shei from

the Wounded Warrior Project at 10:30AM in fellowship

hall overflow. The Wounded Warrior Project is dedi-

cated to making sure that the military members and

their families have the support they need. They pro-

vide housing, plane fares, special equipment, counsel-

ing and any other needs that will allow the military

and their family dignity and care. They do not want

their sacrifice to be forgotten.

Manna Bag Assembly March 22, 2015!

On March 22nd, we made a bunch of MANNA Bags

(a little less than 100)! Everyone together became

the branches that are joined by the Vine”! It was a

Holy time and we were clothed with compassion for

our brothers & sisters. Jesus was beside us & I ‘m

sure He was smiling! To the Youth, Elders, and all

the in betweeners—Thank You! Mother Theresa

said, “We can do great things, only small things

with great love”. Paul wrote: “Pray for us that the

message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be

honored.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1

I love you—Trina WIlliams

Faith Night Circle

The Faith Circle met Tuesday, March 24th. A

presentation was given by Marilyn Rambo to show

us how much can be accomplished by writing let-

ters to our Representatives and our Senators. The

Bread for Life program has been instrumental in

combating hunger throughout the world. The em-

phasis this year is on hunger here in America, with

a focus on child nutrition programs. The Federal

government provides 19 out of 20 grocery bags

that feed people who are hungry. Only one bag is

from churches and charitable food programs. It is

vital that the people who are in control of the gov-

ernment programs see their importance and know

that we support them.

On the last Friday of the month, we deliver softly

used magazines, books, & clothes to V.A. as well as

cookies, 3 in a bag. Contact Jon-Ann Andrews at

713-665-8213 if you can help.

The Sunday after Easter,

April 12, 2015 St. Philip's

will be honored to host

the duo Cring and Clazzy.

Cring and Clazzy will be

performing "567: go tell it

from the Mount", on Sun-

day, April 12th, 2015 at

the 8:45 a.m. and 11:00

a.m. services.

The musical "567" is a meshing of the great

thoughts, and feelings from the Sermon on the

Mount, found in Matthew 5,6,7, mingled with cur-

rent insights and even an occasional contemporary

twist.

Cring and Clazzy join together to leave the audi-

ence laughing, crying, and having entangled them-

selves in a great goulash of entertainment and inspi-

ration. With musical stylings ranging from Dixieland

to hints of pop, "567: go tell it from the Mount" is an

inter-generational, entertaining musical and theatri-

cal journey into the heart and purpose of each and

every human.

April 12th, 2015 , 8:45 & 11:00 a.m. services.

The ponies arrived at Day School on Thursday March 26, 2015

The Tiny Texan Photograpy group came to school and took photos of the children on “Ginger” the brown

pony and then they got a ride on “Tony” the white pony.

For the most of the month of March, the Mother’s Day Out, Preschool and Pre-K have been talking about

farms, farm animals, and seed planting. Ms Trina brought us 2 beautiful Cran-Razz Butterfly Bushes to be

planted around the cross. The children eagerly await watching the monarch butterfly life cycle.
