A message from the Headmaster and Director of Learning and Teaching Excellence

Tim Browning, Headmaster

Emily FitzSimons, Director of Learning and Teaching Excellence

Welcome from Tim Browning:

I am delighted to share the combined results achieved by our Year 12 cohort in 2017, studying either the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program.

50 percent of students achieved an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 90 and above; placing them in the top 10 percent in Australia. As a School we are very proud of these results. They reflect the incredible determination of students, the tireless support of their families, and the passion and skill of our staff at St Peter’s College.

Among the boys there were many exceptional individual achievements in both courses. I would like to congratulate the two students who are the joint recipients of the Young Exhibition for the Dux of the School: Isaac Tennant and Andrew Zhang.

Each student is on their own unique and personal learning journey and I hope every student is proud of what they have achieved. We look forward to hearing from the boys as they begin their journey into adulthood, careers and other life-changing adventures.

Tim Browning,

Headmaster

Welcome from Emily FitzSimons:

It has been an honour and privilege to watch these young men achieve such great academic heights. Year 12 is the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication – and I am so proud of all they have achieved.

Four IB students deserve a special mention for achieving a rarity, known as a Bilingual Diploma. This means that five of their six subjects were studied in their second language, which is most impressive. Congratulations to Xiaoyu (Thomas) Song, Xinyan Zhang, DeYu Zhao and Sikai Zhu.

In addition to our highest achievers, I would particularly like to acknowledge those boys who overcame personal challenges. Whether they achieved a personal best, gained entry to their course of choice or earned a pleasing grade through sheer hard work, we applaud them. It is this resilience and growth mindset that will reward them richly in the years ahead. For now, they can be very proud of all they have achieved.

I wish everyone in the graduating class of 2017 a bright and happy future.

Emily FitzSimons,

Director of Learning and Teaching Excellence

Students must receive an A+ in a subject to earn a Merit but not all A+ grades are a Merit. Merits are given sparingly and only to the very highest achievers of A+ students, as determined by the SACE Board.
