LIFT UP YOUR HEART��

Today we celebrate the glorious Ascension of Christ, our Brother and our Savior, into heaven. It is not a day for sad-ness or narrowness. It is a day for joy and openness. It is a day for renewing our hope in the goal towards which Christ leads us, namely, a share in his own glory in the Father’s kingdom.� But the things that drag us down and keep us down are our sins. Let us confess them humbly and trustingly.� I confess to almighty God. . . ��

1st READING (Acts 1:1�11). This describes the ascension of Jesus into heaven and his promise to send the Holy Spirit on his apostles.��

2nd READING (Ephesians 1;17�23). Paul describes the meaning of the ascension, which is that God has raised Je-sus above all earthly powers, and made him, not only head of the Church, but lord of creation.��

GOSPEL (Mark 16;15�20). Before ascending to his Father, Christ instructs his apostles to preach the Gospel to the whole world.�

SO THEN THE LORD JESUS, AFTER HE SPOKE TO THEM, WAS TAKEN UP INTO HEAVEN AND TOOK HIS SEAT AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD. BUT THEY WENT FORTH AND PREACHED EVERYWHERE, WHILE THE LORD WORKED WITH THEM AND CONFIRMED THE WORD THROUGH ACCOMPANYING SIGNS. Mark 16:19�20�

The Men’s Group will celebrate their last Marian monthly social on May 20th by honoring Mary as Mother of the Church. The 10:30 am mass will begin with the children carrying some of the images of BVM that we celebrated throughout this past year to high-light how she is honored throughout the world as our spiritual mother. The social after the 8:00 and 10;30 am masses will feature a variety of ethnic food. We know nothing of the mystery of the beyond. We have no more maps of the other side. All we have is his word. His word assures us of its existence.��

He has gone before us. For the time be-ing a ‘cloud’ hides him from our view. But he has told us where he now is we shall one day be.��

On the strength of that word let us go forward in joyful hope.�
