Marriage Tip: We shouldn’t need a terrorist attack to prompt us to voice our love to others and make amends to those we have hurt. Does your beloved need to hear words of love or apology from you? Do it today. We have no guarantee of tomorrow. Visit: www.foryourmarriage.org Baptism Prep Classes - meets on Tuesday, Sept 20 from 7 – 9 pm in the lower level of the Parish Office Bldg. You need only one godparent and this person must be Catholic; to have celebrated Confirmation; is at least 16 years of age, and is practicing the faith (attending mass each week and celebrating the sacra-ments.) RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Weekly instruction classes have begun, but it isn’t too late to register. Call Carolyn for more information. Biblical Roots of the Mass – A 5-week study is begin-ning that will help you discover the riches of the Mass and new prayer translations. Don’t wait until Advent to study these changes; they are significant and full of theological beauty. Classes begin soon; call Carolyn to register.

THE NEW TRANSLATION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL

The Creed (“I believe …”)

New: “We believe” will now be“I believe.” The change from the plural, “we”, to the singular, “I”, now unites us with the entire Church. After Vatican II, English was the only language that translated the words to “We be-lieve.” “I believe” is an exact translation of the Latin, Credo. The use of “I believe” makes the faith statements that we profess in the Creed more personal. As individuals, we cannot speak for the collective beliefs of others pre-sent, we can only make a personal act of faith, i.e. I believe in God the Father Almighty….

Due to the change of the Auction to September 24th—all religious education classes that were scheduled to begin on September 25th have been delayed and will now begin on October 2nd.

Parishioner of the Month!

Meet Lexi Steward, a fourth grade student

at SJRCS and a parishioner at St. John the

Evangelist Catholic Church in Frederick.

Lexi is very involved at her parish as an altar server, assisting her brother’s Sunday School Class, and is a member of the St. John girl scout troop. Lexi is also a stellar student at SJRCS. Lexi’s artwork was chosen by WHAGTV Hagerstown (NBC 25-Alive) - allowing her to be the weather kid caster this summer. You may have watched her on the news! The newscasters asked her a few questions, including what school she went to, and then she read the weather. Her artwork was also displayed on the televi-sion. Great, Job Lexi! You are already a great student, and you would make an excellent weather person!

Fore! The 14th Annual Monsignor Echle Memorial Golf Tourna-

It will be properly retired in a ceremony on Veteran’s Day conducted by the 4th degree Knights of the Fr. Michael J. McGivney Assembly PARISH NURSE NOTES: Jesus’ command to the Apostles as he was preparing to leave them was to preach and heal in His name. So we as His followers need to be actively involved in healing each other as part of our commission. One of the ways to do this is to be involved in Health Ministry. God made us in his image and likeness so that just shows that taking care of our bodies is a way we should be honoring His creation. Health Ministry is a group of people interested in promoting healthy lifestyles and helping those who are struggling with health issues to learn how to help themselves feel better and become healthier. Fr. Jason and I are looking for people of St Peter’s who would be willing to learn more about Health Ministry and how we can become a center for healing and wholeness. We are looking for anyone who can give even a limited amount of time to help us introduce a new program about improving our lives. Would you like to teach a class on healthy snacks for kids or how to get moving, how to improve stamina and balance, to do a bulletin board design about fighting type 2 Diabetes? Are you a good planner who could assist in starting a walking group or lead a small group in improving their choices for better eating or how to stop smoking? There are many people with varied talents in our midst. Please consider helping us – even if it is one time for two hours. Call Marybeth Terrell at 301-845-6572 or email [email protected] THEOLOGY OF THE BODY: Immersion in the Theology of the Body, Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, 7 PM - 9 PM and Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, 9 AM - 4:30 PM at Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, Parish Center.
