Even on Vacation, there should be time for God!

At this time of year families begin to enjoy a long awaited

and well deserved vacation. When we consider that most people work fifty-weeks of the year, maybe seven days a

week and countless hours at their job; shouldn’t they enjoy

some time for fun, sun and relaxation. Hopefully, each of you have planned some of that time, even if it is staying at

home, visiting family, enjoying a more relaxed atmosphere. I am a firm believer that everyone needs time away; time to

re-charge; time set aside to put the job on the shelf.

My fear though, is that when people plan that well

deserved time off from the job, they also take time off from God, Mass and Prayer. As much as I believe that everyone

needs a change of pace – time to re-charge, I also believe that we need to be reminded Christ remains with us during

those days. Why not consider that our time of rest or vaca-tion can also be a time when we deepen that friendship,

strengthen that relationship with the God who loves us.

So, I offer the following suggestions: ~ Not only find the Catholic Church in whatever place

you may be vacationing, also be sure of the Mass times, so you can celebrate with the community at Sunday Mass. In

fact, you can visit the website www.masstimes.org to obtain Mass times in churches throughout the world.

~ While sitting on the beach, relaxing in the afternoon choose to do some spiritual reading.

~ If taking a walk, riding a bike, or out for a run – use your

I-Pod to listen to some religious or reflective music. ~ It might even be helpful to take a walk alone, with an

open mind and heart and listen to the voice of Christ (who will be walking with you) who will remind you that it is He

who gives you rest.

Enjoy your summer, enjoy your vacation, rest and relax!

But, stay in tune with Jesus, your ever-present companion!

God Bless You, Father Redcay

Prayer for Independence Day

Father of all nations and ages, we recall the day when our country

claimed its place among the family of nations; for what has been achieved we give you thanks, for the work that still remains we ask your help, and as you have called us from many peoples

to be one nation, grant that, under your providence,

our country may share your blessings with all the peoples of the earth.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Join us to Celebrate Independence Day… we gather to ask God’s continued blessings

upon our nation! Mass at 9:00AM ~ July 4th

J 2, 2017 13TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

During this year we will celebrate that we have been Called to be a Community of Saints. Each month, parishioners

will receive prayer cards of two different Saints, giving a brief de-scription of their lives and a prayer to that particular Saint.

For the month of June, St. Aloysius Gonzaga (feast day June 21) and St. Thomas (feast day July 3) will be our role models and in-

spiration to assist us to be “Saints in the making”.

Help us to update our parish records! Have you have moved recently, changed phone

numbers or email address? Help us to keep you in-formed of all that is happening at St. Patrick Parish. Contact the parish (610-647-2345) or email Barbara at [email protected] to share with us your

ARE YOU CALLED TO BE A TEACHER OF THE FAITH?

Our Parish Religious Education Program (PREP),

formerly known as C.C.D., provides religious

education and faith formation to our elementary

age parishioners who attend non-Catholic

schools. Our PREP classes provide this educa-

tion to approximately 375 St. Patrick’s parish children. We

are always looking for new catechists and aides, mostly on

Monday and Tuesday afternoons (4:45- 6:00) and Tuesday

evenings (6:30-7:45). We meet from September to early

May. Would you consider joining with us in this very

rewarding parish ministry? Each catechist follows the

Archdiocesan religion curriculum and has a detailed teach-

er’s manual. We provide training and support for new cate-

chists. You do not need to be a professional teacher for

this volunteer position. College students and those consid-

ering a teaching career are welcome.

Please consider being a teacher of the faith this year and

reap the rewards of passing on the faith to a new genera-

tion of Catholics! If interested please contact Sr. Eileen at

610-296-8899 or [email protected]. Thank

you and please pray for our parish children!
