At the Supermarket

Today Mum took us to the supermarket. We helped

her tick the food on her shopping list.

We needed to get milk, eggs, fruit, cheese and

bread. I helped Mum find the bread and eggs. Then

we packed some apples and bananas into bags.

I found the milk and cheese in the fridge. The milk and cheese

come from cows that live on a farm.

At the checkout, I helped Mum with packing the food. Mum

always brings her own bags to pack. The supermarket is fun when I

get to help Mum.

Success Criteria

Can I state their

opinion?

What is your least favourite time of

weather? Why?

Write a short text convincing the reader the

type of weather you dislike the most. List

different reasons as to why you don't like

that particular type of weather.

For example: My least favourite type of weather is rain. I really don’t

like when it rains because you are unable to play outside with your

friends. Another reason why I do not like when it rains is because

everything around you is very wet and muddy, which can make your

shoes wet and soggy. I don’t like getting wet when I am trying to get

from my house to the car and school.

Remember to include:

- Your opinion (which type of weather do you dislike)

- List the different reasons

- Use adjectives and verbs

You might like to plan your ideas by drawing pictures and writing

words in the blank box above the lined paper.

and put a T for true and a F for false into the BEFORE box. Later we

will watch a video about it but first I want to know what you think,

not your parents, or your brothers or sisters. I made a few mistakes

and I learnt something from it.

Questions BEFORE AFTER

Playdough can be made in the kitchen

Sand is used to make glass

Meringue is made from cream

Rubbers are made from rubber

Red food colouring is made from bugs

Clothes can be made from plastic bottles

Socks can be made from bamboo

Doing science is FUN!

Now you have finished showing me what you know, let’s learn

something new together. Ask a parent, carer or older sibling to use

As you watch the video, write the right answers into the AFTER

Dear June,

The dog is called Duke. He is fluffy and cute.

The weather was great, everyday was hot. We went to a new swim

A letter from Stewart

Dear Andrew,

I am having a great time staying with Uncle Matthew and Auntie

Sue for a few days. They were amazed how tall I grew since my last

visit a year ago.

Uncle Matthew took me on a hike. We walked all the way to the

top of the mountain to see the view. He didn’t think I would make it

but I knew I could. When we got back we played cricket and I

threw the ball really hard.

Auntie Sue made stew for dinner and then we had a cake with

candles. I blew out the candles. I think I’m their favourite nephew, I

had a really great holiday. The time just flew by.

See you soon.

Kangaroo

Kangaroos are mammals and

marsupials that are found in

Australia including Tasmania. They

The kangaroo has large, powerful hind legs, large feet, a long muscly

tail for balance, and a small head. Male kangaroos can be seen

boxing when competing for the attention of a female.

Kangaroos are social animals that live in groups called ‘mobs’. They

are herbivores so they eat plants, leaves and different grasses.

Kangaroos can reach a weight of 90kg, and can hop at speeds of

up to 60km/h.
