2018
He is Lord, he is Lord!He is risen from the dead, and he is Lord!
Every knee shall bow, every tongue confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord!
He is King, he is King!He will draw all nations to him, he is King;
and the time shall be when the world shall singthat Jesus Christ is King!
He is Love, he is Love!He has shown us by his life that he is Love;
all his people sing with one voice of joythat Jesus Christ is Love!
He is Life, he is Life!He has died to set us free and he is Life;
and he calls us all to live evermore, for Jesus Christ is Life.

As part of Science week all the classes at St. Mary’s took part in Science workshops led by Professor Bubbleworks.
These workshops explored topics such as rockets, bubbles and slime.
“I felt happy, excited and impatient, I just couldn’t wait!” Victoria Y6
“When our teacher announced what we were doing for our workshop we were all delighted!” Angelica Y6
“I had so much fun! I think it is just fascinating that such simple things can make a fun thing to play with.” Anna Y6
“I found the workshop fascinating. I also enjoyed the revision on the states of matter.” Suki
“After 10 seconds all the pots had popped and made a loud sound!” Eva 5C
“When we took the pin out the rocket flew everywhere- WHOA!” Fortune 5C
“The coke fizzed up and exploded!” Jessica 5C
Consultation Update
Thank you for all of the feedback following the two meetings yesterday. It was good
to meet with you and answer your questions. The powerpoint from the presentation
will be going up onto the Consultation page of our website later today.
Governors will continue to use Anna’s expertise to ask you (audit) about your
capacity and skills in helping the school. We also want to get you updated figures for
what the deficit, saving and surplus will be and present these to you in a clearer
format in the summer term.
Best wishes for the Easter holiday and have a Holy Easter.
Jesus at Prayer - Year B Linking School, Parish and Home
Religious Education
Key Idea: Jesus at Prayer This topic is intended for the Spring Term or 2017/2018. It presents pupils with the story of the Exodus and within it, the Passover. As a Jew, Jesus would have celebrated Passover with his family; in preparation for Easter this resource teaches pupils about the story that is the foundation for our own Eucharist. Attitudes and Spiritual Dispositions
Spiritual Outcomes: It is hoped that pupils will develop:
• A sense of the truths contained in Scripture.
• An appreciation of/for our connection to the Jewish people
• Respect for the faith and practices of the Jewish people
• An openness to learning from other faiths
Activities to try at home You are the first educator of your child in faith. Your child’s learning in religious education will be much greater if you and the school are engaged in talking about the same ideas and beliefs. This topic takes pupils on a journey back in time to the Exodus. Pupils will be invited to consider the symbolism of the journey the Israelites took and the ritual of Passover which continues to give thanks for the many blessings the people have received.
• Talk to your children about what they have: foster a sense of appreciation and thankfulness for the many blessings ands privileges they enjoy.
An idea for prayer at home
Prayer Activity
Blessed are You, Lord our God, ruler of the universe, who has kept us alive, sustained us and enabled us to celebrate this joyous occasion. May we remember all those who live in fear or oppression; help us to work towards their release and freedom. Amen. Adapted from the Haggadah, the prayer of the Passover meal.
St George’s Day
We will be celebrating St George’s day on Monday 23rd April. Children who are
in Scouting organisations can wear their uniforms to school on the 23rd. There will
be a special menu too. Choices on ParentPay will not change so please look further
down the newsletter for the substituted options.
The names of children who have achieved 100% attendance for the
spring term will appear in one of the first newsletters of the summer term.
Their attendance badges will be given out at assembly.
Most of your Operation
DIY challenges have
been mastered.
In RE, all of you will take pride in your work and are able to
talk about your work, your
learning and your faith.
All of you are able to use
a range of bits and bobs
(concrete resources) in
maths to help you gain
confidence in maths.
All of you will have the
chance to talk about what
you want to learn.
Teachers will make sure
this learning is covered in
lessons.
Lots of you will have the chance to be a ‘Learner
Leader’. Learning Leaders help others to gain in
confidence and skills in all subjects.
More of you will be
working on Go!
challenges in all
learning. W h a t

2017
2018
All of you will have excellent attendance. More
of you will be awarded attendance badges every
term.
We will all have a fair chance to learn and grow together and to do the best we can. We do this by knowing and loving Jesus more everyday
and by following his teachings in a joyful way.
Our class target: Our class target:
Packed lunches on School Visits
From January children on trips should
bring their packed lunches in a simple
gym type bag (of the type pictured) rather
than in a plastic bag. This gym bag can be
reused rather than thrown away. As a school community we
want to be more careful about our use of plastic in the future
guided by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudate Si.
The children in 4E have been focusing lots on Operation DIY
recently. We have been talking about doing some of the tasks and making sure that we continue to do them. To encourage this, we have asked children to bring in some
photographs of them doing the tasks and we have displayed them in the classroom.
We have been focussing on some of the Year 3 and 4 tasks in
school, for example ‘Use the 4 B’s to show resilience’ and ‘Use and reference a Bible’. We are still encouraging children
to bring the photographs in and continue to carry out the tasks at home so that they become creative and independent
pupils at home as well as in school.
How is your child/ren getting on with their
Operation DIY challenges?
