Peace

The peace Jesus gives to us through the Holy Spirit is more than we can ever imagine:

Peace means the cessation of all warfare, but it also means much more. Peace means a feeling of inner well-being, but it also means much more. Peace means an end to psychological tensions, but it also means much more. Peace means halting interpersonal conflicts, but it also means much more. Peace means the settling of silence on the soul, but it also means much more.

In Valyermo, California , the Benedictines converted a 400-acre ranch into a religious community called St. Andrew's Priory. As you enter the grounds, you find that the land is posted: "No Hunting Except for Peace."

The world is hunting for peace. What will we give it?

Ponerse bajo la autoridad de Jesus, ser su discipulo. Para un discípulo - como ese joven médico - Jesús da seguridad y exigencies, para nuestras vidas. Vemos esto mientras celebra-mos su ascension a la derecha del Padre. "Derecha" significa "poder" y "autoridad" - palabras que Jesús expresa a sus discipu-los en la primera lectura. En la segunda San Pablo describe a Jesus a la derecha con todo bajo sus pies. Así vislumbramos como el drama termina. En la Fiesta de la Ascensión vemos que pertenecemos a un cuento - el drama de la historia humana que llega al triunfo de Jesús. Como sus discípulos tú y yo tenemos un papel en ese drama.Pues, un cuento bueno incluye conflicto y cambios inesperados. A veces digo eso a jóvenes, por ejemplo, en confesión cuando me cuenta de sus tristezas, confusion y su-frimiento. Les digo que Dios tiene un plan para ellos, que ha crea-do a cada uno con un propósito, un papel para jugar. Dios es el mayor contador de cuentos. Cada persona tiene su parte. No hay personas ajenas. Pienso en Rosie Cotton - un per-sonaje menor en El Señor de Los Anillos. Se casa con Samwise cu-ando el regresa de sus aventuras. No tiene la belleza de Arwen ni la valentia de Eowyn. Pero para mí El Señor de Los Anillos no sería igual sin Rosie Cotten.Algo semejante aplica a ti, mi hija bella - y a ti, mi hijo valiente. Cuando el drama llega a su cumbre - el día del triunfo final - si tú no estes, no será el mismo cuento. Al fin del cuento todo se aclarará: Por que cada personaje tiene que enfren-tar su propio crisis, conflicto y dolor.En la fiesta de la Ascension vislumbramos como termina el cuento. La próxima semana sa-bremos como empieza. No lo pierdes. Es un buen cuento - y tú eres parte de el. Les invito ponerse bajo la autoridad de Jesus, ser su discipulos. No quitar todo tu dolor y preguntas. Pero te dará un papel en su gran drama - sin ti no será el mismo cuento. Amén.

Baccalaureate Service: Everyone is invited to the WHS gymnasium on Wednesday, May 23, at 7 PM for the WHS Baccalaureate Service. This worship service is led by

graduating seniors as a Christian send-off ceremony. All se- niors are asked to arrive by 6:45 PM and should wear their graduation gowns with stoles but no caps or cords. The entire community is encouraged to come show their support and to worship God in a spirit of unity!
