PASTOR’S CORNER In this weekend's 1st Reading and Gospel we hear about the multiplication of loaves to feed a great crowd. Last week the Gospel spoke of how Jesus desires us to rest with him and this week Jesus speaks of his desire to feed his people. We not only need to take time to rest physically, emotionally and spiritually but also need to make sure we are feeding ourselves in all three areas. It is easy to miss how Jesus feeds the great crowd by teaching them before he feeds them physically. This signifies that Jesus fed them spiritually which allowed the crowd to have sufficient faith in God to believe that the bread could be multiplied. We need to ask ourselves how we allow ourselves to be fed spiritually each week. The best way we can be fed each week spiritually is by coming to Mass. God nourishes us in our body, mind and spirit in every mass. God feeds us in all three aspects through the Eucharist which is physical bread that nourishes us, emotionally cleanses us and spiritually refreshes us to know we are not alone and God is near. Other ways to be fed spiritually are through bible studies, faith sharing groups, daily scripture readings and time in our Adoration chapel to name a few. We need to take time to be fed spiritually every day and not just on Sundays. When we have allowed ourselves to be fed spiritually, then we can start to trust God in new ways. The one who gave Jesus the bread and fish used in the miracle of the multiplication was a boy. This boy heard Jesus teaching and was then moved to give all the food he had to Jesus trusting that God would provide. The disciples reaction to the small amount of food is similar to how we would probably react. There is not enough and so it is easy to slide into

despair. We need to imitate the faith of that boy by trusting that God can make something great out of the small amount we feel we can give God. When we take our small amount of talents, time and treasure to God then God is given permission to multiply them into something greater then we could have ever imagined. The question is have we allowed God to feed us enough spiritually that we will now trust God with what we have?

************************* We are in the beginning stages of organizing a pilgrimage to Italy in mid- September of 2016. The purpose of the pilgrimage is for the Jubilee Year of Mercy and to celebrate with Deacon Sean DeWitt after he is ordained a priest. If you have interest in this trip please e-mail the office so we can give you more information as we receive it. We will begin to replace our failing church air conditioners units next week so by the end of July we will have one side of the new HVAC system finished. We will have daily Mass in the chapel on July 28-30 due to the HVAC work in the church. Our weekend Masses will not be affected as all work will be done by the weekend Masses. May we allow God to feed us physically, emotionally and spiritually, Fr. Charlie

MISSION God has created me to do some definite service. God has committed some work to me which has not been committed to another. I have a mission. —John Henry Newman

In the Gospel, Jesus supersedes both the apostles’ and the crowds’ expectations: with little he feeds many…Jesus is the sign of God’s lavish presence and love. Your donation to the Society of SVdP is indeed a sign of God’s extravagant love to the lonely and the poor. God Bless You! Your support & prayers go a long way to help many in our community who are struggling or have very little. Many times when we are called for a home visit, the request is for very little help when the family needs much more…furniture, fans, smoke alarms. They are extremely grateful when we are able to provide more than they expected due to your support and that of the community. Their heartfelt hugs, tears and gratitude belong to you who make the sacrifices to help them. The SVdP meeting is Tuesday, July 28 at 7:00 pm in the Education Center. Join us if you would like to learn more about SVdP. Special Needs (ext. 209): Pantry: Canned or Packaged Chicken, Tuna, Soups, Ravioli, Chili, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Kernel Corn, Pinto Beans, Refried Beans, Peas, Carrots, Mac & Cheese; Peanut Butter, Spaghettios, Pasta, Cheese/Peanut Butter Crackers, Oatmeal, Cereal

MSSION 2015 TRIP Eighteen of our young people went to San Juan, TX and changed hearts, minds, and dwelling places. They came back with a greater vigor and passion that they brought with them as a result of the great work that God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit is doing in them.

Here they stand in front of the statue of St. Martin de Porres in the National Basilica of our Lady of San Juan del Valle.

Parish Financial Council

Special thanks to Glenn Rosilier and David Boone for their years of service on the Parish Finance Council. In their term they established the Finance Council norms, developed the annual budget, created the parish financial reports format, kept the Parish finances compliant with Diocesan requirements, and helped grow the Parish’s financial strength. We have been blessed to have had the counsel of such strong, faithful stewards! Picture Note: The verdict is still out as to what Glenn will venture into next, but he is all smiles! David is now serving on the Parish New Facilities Building Committee, he is thinking!
