Literacy

Do you remember all the animals in story that took a fruit from Handa’s basket? Listen to the story again, paying attention to the animals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocnRQi89nK8 These animals are known as ‘Safari Animals’.

How many animals did you count? Have you seen or heard of these animals before? What fun facts do you know about any of the animals from the book?

with long legs and a tall neck.

Remember: Cursive handwriting – every letter starts on the line with an entranc e stroke up.

All sentences begin with a capital letter A There must be a finger space between each word

All sentences end with a full stop

Use your phonic knowledge to help you build new words. Here are some sound mats to help you.

How did Jesus ‘rescue’ people who were lonely? Watch the story of Zacchaeus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIQeriw-USs

How special do think it was for Zacchaeus that Jesus chose to go to his house? Why do you think that Jesus wanted to visit Zacchaeus? Who would you like to have come to your home?

Jesus knew Zacchaeus’ name, which surprised everyone! Cut out a large speech bubble and use paint/felt tips/croyons etc to create a collage of the names of the

people in your family. This symbolises how Christians believe that God knows everyone’s name and loves all people.

Art

When on a safari, you can’t get too close to the animals, so having a pair of binoculars always comes in handy. Make your very own safari binoculars using materials in your home.

Why not look out your window or stand in your garden and use the binoculars to search for any animals nearby.
