Greetings From Your Rector
My Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
During the month of November, we will undertake our annual stewardship drive,
as we prepare for the coming year. This activity is not just an exercise that we
must do in order to cover the necessary budget, but rather an opportunity to ful-
fill our prayer of bringing God’s Kingdom to earth, as it is in heaven. It is an op-
portunity for us to live into God’s will, not only in providing a wonder-filled wor-
ship space and the necessary support for that experience, but it is also an oppor-
tunity for us to live into the very heart and mission of the church. That of loving
our neighbors through demonstrable action, the elderly and the sick through visit-
ation, the young and young at heart as they learn and experience Christ through
the many activities at St Luke’s, those that are searching and alone, seeking to
know Christ in their lives, and spiritually supporting those that know Christ and
seek to know him better.
All of these activities are sustained through our love and through
our annual church budget. It is the time of the year for us to be
thankful and to recognize how God has blessed us, so that we
might also be a blessing to others. On Sunday, November 22nd,
our children will lead us in worship and prepare our hearts for this stewardship
season. They will share with us their perspectives on stewardship and the doing
of God’s will. Psalm 8 tells us that, “Out of the mouths of children God is
praised.” The children will also be preparing their traditional “Stone Soup” to
demonstrate for us the wonder of accomplishment, when we all work together to
do God’s will! On that Sunday, November 22nd, there will be only one service at
10:00 a.m., followed by the sharing of soup and the breaking of bread together, as
we discuss our stewardship and plans for 2016.
In Christ,
STEWARDSHIP
"Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.
1 Peter 4:10 (NRSV)
November 1 is All Saints' Day! As we reflect upon the wonderful memo-ries of our loved ones, please add your prayers for our All Saints' Laby-rinth. The labyrinth walk is our pray-er with God providing us the strength and love to commune with Him as we pour out our lives to Him. Our hearts and souls intertwine with His as we focus on Him in our journey through the labyrinth circle of our lives.
Please join the Daughters of the King on December 1 at 6pm for Janet Robinson's presentation on Labyrinths. Janet is a Certified Laby-rinth Instructor from St. John's Ca-thedral. Reflection is at 5:30 pm in the Sanctuary and Dinner is at 6pm in the parish hall. We would love to have you join us welcoming Janet to St. Luke's and learning more about labyrinths!
If you have any questions about the labyrinth, please see Lydia Bush or call her at 362-8737. Contributions should be made to St. Luke's and notated as "All Saints' Labyrinth".
CELEBRATION OF NEW MINISTRY NOVEMBER 8TH
4:00PM
Bishop John Howard will be cele-brating the new ministry that is shared by the people of St. Luke’s and their new Rector. This will be a time to come together and dedicate ourselves to bringing the love of Christ to the world. The celebration will be followed by a covered dish supper, an opportunity to break bread together, and good fellow-ship. If you would like to bring a covered dish please call Maureen Menosky at 776-1817 or Ellen at 362-1837 so we can be sure of a variety of foods.
As of November 1st, we are still seeking a Sunday School (lead) teacher(s) for the 2 -5 grade class. Is God calling you? Listen to that quiet still voice calling your name! If you hear this call, please see Father George.
HELP WANTED! HELP NEEDED!
On November 22nd the Youth of St. Luke’s will again be preparing their “Stone Soup.” We are in need of a volunteer or volunteers to help pre-pare the soup stock in advance of the 22nd. St. Luke’s is world re-nowned for its great cooks, so this
presents a great opportunity to em-ploy those great talents. If you can help, please see Hal or Janet Airth.
St. Luke’s will once again prepare 10 thanksgiving bas-kets for the needy. A supply list will be
placed on the office doors for sign up donations. We also in-clude enough foods for about a weeks worth of meals. Items may be left by Ellen’s office. We will assemble the baskets on Sunday, Nov. 22nd after the BUDGET MEETING. Jim Weaver has stepped forward with a great interest and calling to help St. Luke’s grow our food minis-try. Jim has a heart for serving and is looking for others similarly dis-posed to help bring God’s love and assistance to those in need.
If you have an interest in this vital ministry of St. Luke’s, please see Jim or call him (386) 330-6856.
Deacon’s Corner Mother Tulia writes that they have found a new person to in-stall the windows and so they are hopeful that it will actually happen. Right now they are waiting for the glass. We can keep praying that the glass will become available soon. She also writes that the Daughters of the King will be receiving 3 new members soon. That is very encour-aging for them and for us as our DOK members were instrumental in starting theirs.
The ESL classes are going very well with a good number of regular stu-dents. We will continue classes un-til Thanksgiving and then stop until

T-Shirt Sale The youth will be selling St. Luke's T-shirts to raise money for a mission trip
to Cuba. The Youth will be taking orders starting Sunday, October 18, through Sunday, November 15. The shirts will be available in four col-ors: Charcoal Grey, True Red, Deep Purple, and Forest Green; and will be imprinted with an Episcopal shield on the front and a picture of St. Luke's and a Bible verse on the back. If you are interested, please see any member of the Youth group, Jackie Kent, or Hal or Janet Airth. The shirts will also be availa-ble for order after the 9:00 and 11:00 services on November 1st, and 15th. $18.00 each. Call Jackie at 362-6292 with any questions. Order forms are posted on the bul-letin board in the parish hall.
The Coffee Hour following the 11am service has been a tradition at St. Luke’s for many years. It is a great way to get a chance to visit with each other and to meet and greet those visiting and potential mem-bers. We find we are now often without someone who has signed up to host the coffee hour.
The vestry discussed this at our meeting this week and hope we can again get volunteers to host coffee hour.
The menu for the coffee hour can be very simple such as coffee, lem-
onade, and cookies. It is not meant to be a meal or heavy finger foods, just a light treat. We hope you will think about hosting an upcoming Sunday. You can call Ellen to sign up or check the schedule in the Parish hall to sign up.
ICS CREMATION & FUNERAL HOME
ICS is offering a free, no obligation information seminar with refresh-ments. While you eat, you can learn about what options are available and why it’s important for your family that you preplan your funer-al. If you are interested, let Ellen know the best time and day to have this program.
SAVE THE DATE-DECEMBER 12th The Daughters of the King once again extends an invitation to eve-ryone to join them for the Advent Quiet Day on December 12th, from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The bestsel-ling book, Can You Drink the Cup, by Henri Nouwen, will be the theme for prayer and meditation on this day. To continue, from last month, with a little DOK history and trivia, The Order of the Daughters of the King was birthed in a time when all Christians in America were respond-
ing to the call for “concerts of prayer” for revival of religion and the advancement of God’s Kingdom on earth. This movement brought millions of converts into the Church and it tied the Gospel with social work in a way that had not
been seen in the U.S. before. It brought a new commitment to prayer, to service and to evangelism. The Order was formed in the expectation that it could bring Christ’s light to the world. And since 1885 Daughters of the King have been shining!
Have you noticed that the daughters all wear an unusual looking silver cross? It is the emblem of the Order in the
form of a modified Greek Fleury Cross (that’s a cross with petals or flowers on the ends). “Magnanimiter Cucem Su-tine” is inscribed, meaning “With heart, mind and spirit uphold and bear the cross.” At the base of the cross are the letters “FHS,” initials that stand for the Motto of the Order: “For His Sake.” The vision of a Daughter of the King is
to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to become reflections of God’s love throughout the world. Now just imagine the impact that 30,000 Daughters - praying in concerts of prayer and serving together - are having

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God
is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good
work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” 2 Corinthians 9:7-
