Seth Maness (10-3) hurled 8.0 innings allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts for the win. He has 13 wins thisminor league season between Palm Beach and Springfield. Kolten Wong was 2-for-5 with a double, triple and an RBI. JermaineCurtis had two hits and has hit safely in 9-of-10 games raising his average to .316 on the season.

PALM BEACH CARDINALS (A) 2nd Half Record: 24-31, 4th (1st half: 31-36, 3rd) Florida State League, South DivisionPalm Beach committed four errors and surrended five runs in the 8th inning, dropping their fourth straight, a 9-4 decision to FortMyers (Twins). Seth Blair (0-2) allowed four runs on four hits over three innings for the loss. Cody Stanley was 3-for-5 with his 1sthome run of the season and two RBI. Ronny Gil extended his hitting streak to five games with a three-hit night.

QUAD CITIES RIVER BANDITS (A) 2nd Half Record: 25-28, 6th (1st half: 35-34, 3rd) Midwest League, Western DivisionQuad Cities lost on a one-out walk-off single to Cedar Rapids (Angels) 3-2. Heath Wyatt (4-6) took the loss. Boone Whiting threw5.0 innings allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts in a no decision. Nick Martini was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

BATAVIA MUCKDOGS (A) Record: 30-26, 2nd New York-Penn League, Pinckney DivisionBatavia continued to roll winning their fourth straight, rallying late with single runs in the 7th and 8th inning for a 3-2 win at Ma-honing Valley (Indians). Matt Young’s solo home run in the 8th put the Muckdogs ahead for good. Chris Thomas (1-0) earned hisfirst New York-Penn League victory, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts. Lee Stoppleman struck out fourbatters in 1.1 innings for his fourth save. Tyler Melling allowed two runs (1 ER) over 6.0 innings in a quality start no decision.

JOHNSON CITY CARDINALS (R) Record: 30-24, 3rd Appalachian League, West DivisionJohnson City won its third straight game, sweeping a doubleheader from Princeton (Mariners) 10-9 and 8-4. The Cardinals rallied for six runs inthe bottom of the 7th to win the first game in walk-off fashion. Bruce Caldwell scored on a passed ball in an inning that included four wildpitches and a clutch two-RBI double by Carson Kelly. Trevor Martin was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Cesar Aguilar (1-1) received thewin in relief. Martin homered again in the nightcap and Caldwell was 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI as Johnson City swept with an 8-4 win de-spite four errors. Joey Donofrio (2-2) earned the win in with 2.2 scoreless innigs in relief while Ronnie Shaban nailed down his 14th save.

GULF COAST LEAGUE CARDINALS Record: 32-21, 1st Gulf Coast League, East DivisionThe Cardinals reduced their magic number to clinch the East Division to two with a 5-0 shutout win over the Marlins. Four Cardi-nals pitchers combined on the three-hit shutout with six strikeouts. Burny Mitchem (2-0) earned the win with three no-hit inningswith five strikeouts. Fidencio Flores fanned six over four scoreless innings. Steve Bean was 2-for-4 while Luis Perez was 2-for-4with a triple and two RBI.
