SAINT KEVIN PARISH

Gift Card Program

The St. Kevin 18th Annual Auction is just around the cor-ner! This year, more than ever, we need everyone’s help to insure the auction’s success. Consider making a donation of a gift card to the auction. You’ll be supporting St. Kevin twice! Simply put your donation in an envelope with your name and address (so we can send you a thank you and tax form) and either place in the collection basket or drop off at the school or rectory.

Advertise in the Auction Program

We are now accepting advertisements for the 2015 Auction Program. Consider advertising your business or asking your employer to advertise. Do your children belong to a dance studio or other organi-zation that might like to advertise? Please pick up an Ad-vertisement Request Form and help us fill the Program. Nothing to advertise? How about a sponsorship? There are so many ways to show your support! Thank you for supporting the gift card program!

There is NO bingo in April. Bingo will re-

sume on Saturday, May 2nd.

The sign in from of church says it all B He is risen ! Alleluia ! Easter Season began with the celebration of the Easter Vigil and what a celebration it was. A word of sincere congratulations to Bryan Barrette and our choir and instrumentalists on the prayerful and powerful performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chrous” at both the Vigil and the 10:00 AM Mass. That difficult piece was performed with precise care and certainly gave the message loud and clear that Jesus is Risen. Now these coming days, both the Oc-tave of Easter and the entire Easter season, brings us to the joy filled celebrations of the Church commemorating the Risen Lord’s post resurrection events. In 40 days we will celebrate the Feast of Pentecost and the descent of the Holy Spirit and in 50 days the Ascension of the Lord closes the season as He returns to His Father in glory. He began His church in those days instructing His friends, the Apos-tles, and they took up the mantle and preached the Gospel without apology to all lands. We are here today because of them. So let us celebrate well as we bask in the glow of a Risen Savior. This week, on Wednesday night, we are privileged to welcome His Excellency, the Most Reverend Robert J. McManus, DD, Bishop of Worcester to celebrate the Sacra-ment of Confirmation. Bishop McManus is a native priest of Providence and a good friend who served as our Auxiliary Bishop for some years before he was appointed by the late St John Paul II to be Bishop of the Diocese of Worcester in Massachusetts. It is a great joy to welcome him “home” to Saint Kevin’s and to present to him our wonderful Confirma-tion Class, 36 young men and women, who have journeyed together this year under the guidance of our Confirmation Directors, Mr Brian Callahan and Mr Chris Tanguay with the help of our dedicated teachers. This is a wonderful class and we look forward to great things from them in the parish in the days ahead. Please keep these young people in your prayers as they affirm their faith, begun by their par-ents in Baptism, and now to be sealed by their words and the gift of the Holy Spirit. May God continue to inspire and guide them. Take a look in your pews this weekend and next and find those envelopes marked “TAKE THE CHILL OUT OF THE BILL” as we have our special second collection this weekend to help defray the cost of plowing during the past (we hope) unusually snowy winter. The total bill was over $30,000.00 due to the excessive snow, ice and large area that needed to be plowed, sanded and shoveled. We are so glad it was all done so well and all kept safe but now we need to pay for this good and needed service. Thanks for your generosity this weekend and any weekend that you can lend us a hand. Have a great Easter week God Bless.

Father Bob Marciano

We have received several calls from residents of Michael Drive and surrounding streets that traffic before and after our weekend Masses can be danger-ous. The callers tell us of speeding cars up and down the streets and in the area going to and from the church. Please use cautious and obey the signs for speed limits. There are children, elderly and handi-capped in the area and their safety is our concern. A special caution on Sunday morning while the children of our CCD program are in the area. At our request, Warwick Police will be monitoring the traffic and speeds on the weekends during Mass times. Thanks for your cooperation and let us always drive carefully.

Congratulations to the child who was baptized last weekend!
