“Imagining Heaven”
Have you ever tried to picture heaven? Have you ever thought about how you stand, although distant, in the presence of heaven? St. John in the Book of Revelation gives us a wonderful image of heaven. He writes of a place where countless numbers of people are joyfully crying out in a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing” (Rev. 5:12). As believers trans-formed by Easter Joy we are called to have the same presence before the Lord. We are charged to daily show our reverence, our love, our daily devo-tion by joyfully crying out to Him. This means daily worshiping the Lord by using all of our power, our positions, our relationships, our things, and our very wisdom to honor God. We are called to direct our health, our finances, our families and our gifts to constantly give glory to God. As part of the Communion of Saints we, together with the angels and saints, are Easter people charged with the mission to constantly give the proper worship due to our Lord in heaven. We are to give worthy praise each day by giving all of our power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor and glory to God. And in this dai-ly walk of praise, the blessings that are returned will be so amazing that you will not be able to contain sharing that anointing with others. Imagining heaven helps us to know our mission to joyfully cry out in worship before the Lord. But, when we celebrate the sacraments, enter into prayer, sit before the Lord in quiet prayer at Eucharistic Adoration heaven and earth unite in one glorious hymn of praise. Look around you, look within you, look ahead of you and seize the opportunities you have to use your life as an instrument of worship and praise to the Lord.

Stewardship Thought Paul and Barnabas encountered both violent rejection and
joyful acceptance of the message that they preached. We, too, may meet with mixed reactions when we use our gifts
in the service of God. But, the Gospel assures us, the re-
ward for those who follow faithfully is eternal life.
Please remember in your daily prayers the sick and suffer-ing of our parish family.

church website www.stjudepearl.org or the St. Jude Parish App—you can watch your giving grow this sea-son… and throughout the year! When you create a login, your gift and pledge history will be stored so that you can access it at anytime. This will allow you to accurately assess how much you’re giving to what so that you can make informed decisions and plan your future gifts. It also helps us in the church office; there’s much less processing for online gifts than for envelope gifts!

Jubilee Year of Mercy
April 17, 2016
Fourth Sunday of Easter
Good Shepherd Sunday: World Day of Prayer for Vocations
This Sunday celebrates Jesus as “the Good Shepherd.” When announcing this Jubi-
lee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis focused on
Jesus’ “lost sheep” parable in Luke. “[Who] among you,” Jesus asks, “having a hundred
sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds
it?” (Luke 15:4). A reasonable answer? “No responsible shep-herd who wants to keep the job!” Yet Jesus considers one
lost person supremely important and suggests blaming the
shepherd. The sheep didn’t “go astray,” the shepherd “lost” it. Thus, “when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders
with great joy” (15:5). That tender image of Jesus adorns the simple cross Pope Francis has always worn, the Good
Shepherd gently carrying the lost sheep home on his shoul-
ders. During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, may we, who once were lost ourselves but now are found, join Jesus in seeking,
finding, and gently carrying home at least one precious lamb. —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
